Effect of Spontaneously Generated Coherence and Detuning on 2D Atom Localization in Two Orthogonal Standing-Wave Fields

Abstract

Two-dimensional (2D) atom localization via the spontaneously generated coherence (SGC) and detunings associated with the probe and standing-wave driving fields in a three-level V-type atomic system are investigated. In the gain process, two equal and tunable peak maxima of position distribution in the x — y plane via the detunings are observed. However, one decreasing and the other increasing peak maxima in the absorption process via the SGC are achieved in the quadrants I and III of the x — y plane. A better resolution and more novelty for the 2D atom localization in our scheme are obtained.

Efficient two-dimensional atom localization via spontaneously generated coherence and incoherent pump

Tao Shui, Zhiping Wang, Benli Yu

We present a simple scheme of two-dimensional (2D) atom localization controlled by spontaneously generated coherence (SGC) and incoherent pump in a closed Λ-type three-level atomic system. Due to the position-dependent atom-field interaction, the conditional position probability distribution of the atom passing through the standing waves can be directly determined by measuring the phase-sensitive probe absorption-gain spectrum. The role of the SGC and incoherent pump in the precision and spatial resolution of 2D atom localization is studied. It is found that the probability of finding the atom at a particular position in one period of the standing waves can reach 100% via properly adjusting the parameters of the system.

Three-Level Λ-Type Atomic System Localized by the Parameters of the Two Orthogonal Standing-Wave Fields

Shun‐Cai Zhao, Qixuan Wu

Localization of the three-level Λ-type atomic system interacting with two orthogonal standing-wave fields is proposed. Two equal and tunable peaks in the 2D plane are obtained by the detunings corresponding to the two orthogonal standing-wave fields when the decreasing intensities of spontaneously generated coherence (SGC) arise in the three-level Λ-type atomic system, while one circular ring with shrinking radii in the 2D plane is obtained by the adjusted phases and wave vectors of the standing-wave fields when the increasing intensities of SGC occur in the three-level Λ-type atomic system. 2D atom localization with the single ring with shrinking radii realized by the multiple parametric manipulations demonstrated the flexibility for our scheme.

Two-dimensional atom localization via probe-absorption spectrum

Rahmatullah Rahmatullah, Sajid Qamar

A scheme for two-dimensional (2D) atom localization via probe absorption in a three-level $\ensuremath{\Lambda}$-type atomic system is suggested. The required atom-field configuration is obtained when the atom interacts with a weak probe field and two orthogonal standing-wave fields where each standing-wave field is obtained from the superposition of the two standing-wave fields along the corresponding directions. We study the effect of the probe field detuning and phase shifts associated with the standing-wave fields. Two equally probable position information of the single atom are observed in the conditional position probability distribution. However, a unique position of the single atom in the 2D $xy$ plane is observed for some arbitrary choices of the phases associated with standing-wave fields and by selecting slightly different wavelengths of standing-wave fields.

Precision in 2D atom localization via coherent manipulation of the Raman gain process

Rahmatullah Rahmatullah, Abdul Wahab, Sajid Qamar

A four-level N-type atom–field system exhibiting the Raman gain process is revisited for precision in position information of a single atom in a two-dimensional (2D) xy -plane. The atom interacts with two standing-wave fields where each standing-wave field is obtained via superposition of two orthogonal standing-wave fields, i.e., along the x and y directions, whereas a probe field is applied to observe the Raman gain process. The role of probe field detuning and phase shifts associated with the standing-wave fields in precision position information of a single atom in a 2D plane is investigated. The suggested scheme leads to enhancement in the spatial resolution in measuring the position of the atom, and a single atom localization peak in the xy -plane having a spatial resolution of the order of λ /10 is noticed.

Scheme of 2-dimensional atom localization for a three-level atom via quantum coherence

Zafar, Sajjad, Rizwan Ahmed, Majid Khan

We present a scheme for two-dimensional (2D) atom localization in a three-level atomic system. The scheme is based on quantum coherence via classical standing wave fields between the two excited levels. Our results show that conditional position probability is significantly phase dependent of the applied field and frequency detuning of spontaneously emitted photons. We obtain a single localization peak having probability close to unity by manipulating the control parameters. The effect of atomic level coherence on the sub-wavelength localization has also been studied. Our scheme may be helpful in systems involving atom-field interaction.

Two-dimensional atom localization based on coherent field controlling in a five-level M-type atomic system

Xiangqian Jiang, Jinjiang Li, Xiudong Sun

We study two-dimensional sub-wavelength atom localization based on the microwave coupling field controlling and spontaneously generated coherence (SGC) effect. For a five-level M-type atom, introducing a microwave coupling field between two upper levels and considering the quantum interference between two transitions from two upper levels to lower levels, the analytical expression of conditional position probability (CPP) distribution is obtained using the iterative method. The influence of the detuning of a spontaneously emitted photon, Rabi frequency of the microwave field, and the SGC effect on the CPP are discussed. The two-dimensional sub-half-wavelength atom localization with high-precision and high spatial resolution is achieved by adjusting the detuning and the Rabi frequency, where the atom can be localized in a region smaller thanλ/10×λ/10. The spatial resolution is improved significantly compared with the case without the microwave field.
