Abstract

Utilizing a tritter with variable parameter $T$ and induced by vacuum--one-photon superpositions $|0\ensuremath{\rangle}+\ensuremath{\alpha}|1\ensuremath{\rangle}$ with $\ensuremath{\alpha}=|\ensuremath{\alpha}|{e}^{i\ensuremath{\phi}}$, we propose a scheme to prepare a class of three-qubit pure states. These states take the form of ${|\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rangle}}_{123}={c}_{0}|000\ensuremath{\rangle}+{c}_{1}|100\ensuremath{\rangle}+{c}_{2}|010\ensuremath{\rangle}+{c}_{3}|001\ensuremath{\rangle}$. The coefficients $({c}_{0},$ ${c}_{1},$ ${c}_{2}, \text{and} {c}_{3})$ can be manipulated through interaction parameters $(|\ensuremath{\alpha}|,$ $\ensuremath{\phi}, \text{and} T)$. In line with Xie and Eberly's work [Phys. Rev. Lett. 127, 040403 (2021)], we investigate the genuine tripartite entanglement for ${|\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rangle}}_{123}$ by using the measure of concurrence fill. Drawing on Hao et al.'s research [Phys. Rev. Lett. 128, 120402 (2022)], we examine tripartite steering for ${|\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rangle}}_{123}$ under certain measurements based on the uncertainty relations criterion. We identify nine potential configurations exhibiting varying steerability across different parameter spaces. It is important to highlight that, while the state ${|\ensuremath{\psi}\ensuremath{\rangle}}_{123}$ exhibits entanglement, steering remains unattainable in a substantial portion of the parameter space.

Continuous variable tripartite entanglement and steering using a third-order nonlinear optical interaction

Tarek Peña-Armendáriz, Roberto Ramírez-Alarcón, L. Rosales-Zárate

Nonlinear optical devices are very useful for generating entanglement. One proposal for the generation of genuine tripartite entanglement [ Phys. Rev. Lett. 120 , 043601 ( 2018 ) PRLTAO 0031-9007 10.1103/PhysRevLett.120.043601 ] is to use a third-order nonlinear optical interaction. Here, we investigate a generalization of this, where we consider the quantum nature of all modes; moreover, we also investigate quantum steering, which is a stronger and asymmetric non-local correlation. We show that the final state presents not only tripartite continuous variable entanglement but also tripartite steering.

Experimental Examination of Entanglement Estimates

Songbo Xie, Yuanyuan Zhao, Chao Zhang +4 more

Recently, a proper genuine multipartite entanglement measure has been found for three-qubit pure states [see Xie and Eberly, Phys. Rev. Lett. 127, 040403 (2021)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.127.040403], but capturing useful entanglement measures for mixed states has remained an open challenge. So far, it requires not only a full tomography in experiments, but also huge calculational labor. A leading proposal was made by Gühne, Reimpell, and Werner [Phys. Rev. Lett. 98, 110502 (2007)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.98.110502], who used expectation values of entanglement witnesses to describe a lower bound estimation of entanglement. We provide here an extension that also gives genuine upper bounds of entanglement. This advance requires only the expectation value of any Hermitian operator. Moreover, we identify a class of operators A_{1} that not only give good estimates, but also require a remarkably small number of experimental measurements. In this Letter, we define our approach and illustrate it by estimating entanglement measures for a number of pure and mixed states prepared in our recent experiments.

Controlled teleportation of qubit states: Relation between teleportation faithfulness, controller's authority, and tripartite entanglement

Artur Barasiński, Jiŕí Svozilík

We consider the controlled quantum teleportation performed on a single copy of entangled three-qubit pure states and show how the fidelity of teleportation and the control power are related to the tripartite entanglement measures, namely, three-tangle and genuine concurrence. We characterize the states with extreme properties, and use them to derive tight lower and upper bounds on both the teleportation fidelity and control power for a given amount of entanglement. Furthermore, we discuss the usefulness of these two quantities for experimental detection and/or quantification of tripartite entanglement. In particular, we present the results which imply that the control power cannot be considered as a candidate for a degree of three-qubit entanglement complementary to the three-tangle as conjectured recently [K. Jeong, J. Kim, and S. Lee, Phys. Rev. A 93, 032328 (2016)]. Furthermore, we prove a mutual relation between teleportation fidelity and control power which provides attainable limits of the controller's authority for existing controlled teleportation schemes. Although those relations are derived for pure states, their extensions for mixed states are also examined.

Tripartite entanglement measure under local operations and classical communication

Xiaozhen Ge, Lijun Liu, Shuming Cheng

Multipartite entanglement is an indispensable resource in quantum communication and computation; however, it is a challenging task to faithfully quantify this global property of multipartite quantum systems. In this work we study the concurrence fill, which admits a geometric interpretation to measure genuine tripartite entanglement for the three-qubit system [Xie and Eberly, Phys. Rev. Lett. 127, 040403 (2021)]. First, we use the well-known three-tangle and bipartite concurrence to reformulate this quantifier for all pure states. We then construct an explicit example to conclusively show that the concurrence fill can be increased under local operations and classical communication (LOCC) on average, implying it is not an entanglement monotone. Moreover, we give a simple proof of the LOCC monotonicity of the three-tangle and find that the bipartite concurrence and the squared concurrence can have distinct performances under the same LOCC. Finally, we propose a reliable monotone to quantify genuine tripartite entanglement, which can also be easily generalized to the multipartite system. Our results shed light on the study of genuine entanglement and also reveal the complex structure of multipartite systems.

Svetlichny’s inequality and genuine tripartite nonlocality in three-qubit pure states

Ashok Ajoy, Pranaw Rungta

The violation of the Svetlichny's inequality (SI) [Phys. Rev. D 35, 3066 (1987)] is sufficient but not necessary for genuine tripartite nonlocal correlations. Here we quantify the relationship between tripartite entanglement and the maximum expectation value of the Svetlichny operator (which is bounded from above by the inequality) for the two inequivalent subclasses of pure three-qubit states: the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) class and the $W$ class. We show that the maximum for the GHZ-class states reduces to Mermin's inequality [Phys. Rev. Lett. 65, 1838 (1990)] modulo a constant factor, and although it is a function of the three tangle and the residual concurrence, large numbers of states do not violate the inequality. We further show that by design SI is more suitable as a measure of genuine tripartite nonlocality between the three qubits in the $W$-class states, and the maximum is a certain function of the bipartite entanglement (the concurrence) of the three reduced states, and only when their sum attains a certain threshold value do they violate the inequality.

Shreya Kumar, Alex E. Jones, Daniel Bhatti +4 more

We study three-photon quantum interference and entanglement using beam splitters, revealing scattering statistics influenced by distinguishability, mixedness, and symmetry. Furthermore, genuine tripartite-entangled states are generated, achieving up to (87.3±1.1)% fidelity, with implications for photonic quantum technologies.
