Abstract

Multipartite entanglement is an indispensable resource in quantum communication and computation; however, it is a challenging task to faithfully quantify this global property of multipartite quantum systems. In this work we study the concurrence fill, which admits a geometric interpretation to measure genuine tripartite entanglement for the three-qubit system [Xie and Eberly, Phys. Rev. Lett. 127, 040403 (2021)]. First, we use the well-known three-tangle and bipartite concurrence to reformulate this quantifier for all pure states. We then construct an explicit example to conclusively show that the concurrence fill can be increased under local operations and classical communication (LOCC) on average, implying it is not an entanglement monotone. Moreover, we give a simple proof of the LOCC monotonicity of the three-tangle and find that the bipartite concurrence and the squared concurrence can have distinct performances under the same LOCC. Finally, we propose a reliable monotone to quantify genuine tripartite entanglement, which can also be easily generalized to the multipartite system. Our results shed light on the study of genuine entanglement and also reveal the complex structure of multipartite systems.

Geometric genuine multipartite entanglement for four-qubit systems

Ansh Mishra, Soumik Mahanti, Abhinash Kumar Roy +1 more

Xie and Eberly introduced a genuine multipartite entanglement (GME) measure ‘concurrence fill’ (Xie and Eberly, 2021) for three-party systems. It is defined as the area of a triangle whose side lengths represent squared concurrence in each bi-partition. However, it has been recently shown that concurrence fill is not monotonic under LOCC, hence not a faithful measure of entanglement. Though it is not a faithful entanglement measure, it encapsulates an elegant geometric interpretation of bipartite squared concurrences. There have been a few attempts to generalize GME quantifier to four-party settings and beyond. However, some of them are not faithful, and others simply lack an elegant geometric interpretation. The recent proposal from Xie et al.. constructs a concurrence tetrahedron, whose volume gives the amount of GME for four-party systems; with generalization to more than four parties being the hypervolume of the simplex structure in that dimension. Here, we show by construction that to capture all aspects of multipartite entanglement, one does not need a more complex structure, and the four-party entanglement can be demonstrated using 2D geometry only. The subadditivity together with the Araki-Lieb inequality of linear entropy is used to construct a direct extension of the geometric GME quantifier to four-party systems resulting in quadrilateral geometry. Our quantifier can be geometrically interpreted as a combination of three quadrilaterals whose sides result from the concurrence in one-to-three bi-partition, and diagonal as concurrence in two-to-two bipartition.

Genuine multipartite entanglement measure

Abstract Quantifying genuine entanglement is a crucial task in quantum information theory. In this work, we give an approach of constituting genuine m -partite entanglement measures from any bipartite entanglement and any k -partite entanglement measure, 3 ⩽ k < m . In addition, as a complement to the three-qubit concurrence triangle proposed in ( Phys. Rev. Lett. 127 040403), we show that the triangle relation is also valid for any continuous entanglement measure and system with any dimension. We also discuss the tetrahedron structure for the four-partite system via the triangle relation associated with tripartite and bipartite entanglement respectively. For multipartite system that contains more than four parties, there is no symmetric geometric structure as that of tri- and four-partite cases.

Quantifying genuine tripartite entanglement by reshaping the state

Dong-Dong Dong, Li-Juan Li, Xue‐Ke Song +2 more

Although genuine multipartite entanglement (GME), as one quantum resource, is indispensable in quantum information processing, most of the existing measures cannot detect GME faithfully. In this paper we present a GME measure, namely, the minimum pairwise concurrence (MPC), by introducing pairwise entanglement, which characterizes the entanglement between two single-qubit subsystems of a multipartite system without tracing out the remaining qubit. The pairwise entanglement can be obtained by combining the entanglement of the reduced subsystem and the three-tangle. Compared with existing measures, the MPC measure outperforms the previous ones in many aspects. Due to its fine properties, it thus is believed that the MPC could be a good candidate for achieving potential quantum tasks and also could facilitate the understanding of GME.

Quantification of Entanglement in Three-Qubit Systems

Zikra Aram

This study presents an analytical investigation of entanglement quantification in three-qubit pure states through the Acín canonical representation, which serves as a generalization of the two-qubit Schmidt decomposition. Driven by the intricacies of multipartite entanglement and the shortcomings of current measures, we employ a global concurrence measure derived from the generalized concurrence of various bipartitions within the system. The characteristics of this measure are explored both analytically and numerically across a range of SLOCC entanglement classes, such as product, biseparable, GHZ-type, and W-type states. When compared to the three-tangle and tripartite negativity, our findings indicate that this measure yields complementary insights into multipartite correlations. The outcomes underscore the significance of this measure in elucidating the structure and distribution of entanglement within three-qubit quantum systems.

Multipartite k ‐Entanglement Measures and Coherence

Zi‐Han Chen, Hui Zhao, Shao-Ming Fei +1 more

ABSTRACT Characterizing the entanglement in multipartite quantum systems remains a central challenge in the theory of quantum entanglement. We establish a comprehensive framework for constructing ‐entanglement measures by leveraging bipartite entanglement measures and general ‐entanglement measures () with arithmetic and geometric averaging schemes. Numerical examples demonstrate that these measures outperform the existing ones, such as ‐ME concurrence, geometric mean (k‐GM) concurrence, and the generalized ‐entanglement measure by inducing distinct entanglement orderings and offering superior resolution. Furthermore, we reveal the operational relationship between the ‐entanglement and the local quantum coherence, verifying that the persistence of entanglement is intrinsically constrained by the system's capacity to maintain the local coherence. Finally, to overcome the inherent limitation of the conventional three‐tangle in characterizing the genuine multipartite entanglement of the GHZ‐W mixed states, we design a novel GME measure. Numerical results confirm that this measure effectively eliminates the detection blind spots where vanishes, providing a complete and practical mathematical tool for the quantitative analysis of genuine multipartite quantum correlations.

We discuss the monotonicity of systematically constructed quantities aiming at the quantification of the entanglement properties of multipartite quantum systems, under local operations and classical communication. We provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the monotonicity of generalized multipartite concurrences which qualifies them as legitimate entanglement measures.
