Abstract

Abstract We derive Heisenberg equations for arbitrary high order moments of creation and annihilation operators in the case of the quantum master equation with a multimode generator which is quadratic in creation and annihilation operators and obtain their solutions. Based on them we also derive similar equations for the case of the quantum master equation, which occur after averaging the dynamics with a quadratic generator with respect to the classical Poisson process. This allows us to show that dynamics of arbitrary finite-order moments of creation and annihilation operators is fully defined by finite number of linear differential equations in this case.

Irreversible quantum evolution with quadratic generator: Review

Alexander Evgen’evich Teretenkov

We review results on GKSL-type equations with multi-modal generators which are quadratic in bosonic or fermionic creation and annihilation operators. General forms of such equations are presented. The Gaussian solutions are obtained in terms of equations for the first and the second moments. Different approaches for their solutions are discussed.

Exact Dynamics of Moments and Correlation Functions for GKSL Fermionic Equations of Poisson Type

Iu. A. Nosal’, Alexander Evgen’evich Teretenkov

Gorini-Kossakowski-Sudarshan-Lindblad equation of Poisson-type for the density matrix is considered. The Poisson jumps are assumed to be unitary operators with generators, which are quadratic in fermionic creation and annihilation operators. The explicit dynamics of the density matrix moments and Markovian multi-time ordered correlation functions is obtained.

Open quantum dynamics with singularities: Master equations and degree of non-Markovianity

Abhaya S. Hegde, K. P. Athulya, Vijay Pathak +2 more

Master equations describing open quantum dynamics are typically first-order differential equations. When such dynamics brings the trajectories in state space of more than one initial state to the same point at finite instants in time, the generator of the corresponding master equation becomes singular while the dynamical map becomes noninvertible. The first-order, time-local, homogeneous master equations then fail to describe the dynamics beyond the singular point. Retaining time locality in the master equation necessitates a reformulation in terms of higher-order differential equations. We formulate a method to eliminate the divergent behavior of the generator by using a combination of higher-order derivatives of the generator with suitable weights and illustrate it with several examples. We also present a detailed study of the central spin model and we propose the average rate of information inflow in non-Markovian processes as a quantity that captures a different aspect of non-Markovian dynamics.

Derivation of the Redfield Quantum Master Equation and Corrections to It by the Bogoliubov Method

A. S. Trushechkin

Abstract Following the ideas N. N. Bogoliubov used to derive the classical and quantum nonlinear kinetic equations, we derive the Redfield quantum linear master equation, which is widely used in the theory of open quantum systems. This method allows one to calculate the joint state of a system and a reservoir at every instant of time, as well as to obtain quantum master equations as autonomous differential equations in an arbitrary order of perturbation theory. We prove that under certain conditions the expressions for the corrections of all orders are well defined. We also discuss the question of whether the quantum dynamics described by the derived quantum master equations is Markovian.

Heisenberg Equations of Motion

Z. Ficek, Mohamed Ridza Wahiddin

In the master equation method, we have already illustrated a powerful technique for the calculation of the dynamics of an atomic system interacting with the vacuum field. Another technique for calculating the dynamics of an atomic system coupled to the elec- tromagnetic (EM) field involves Heisenberg equations of motion for the system’s operators. A difference between the master equation and the Heisenberg equations is that the later involves dynamics of the operators, which allows to analyse the evolution of an atomic system in terms of the field and atomic operators. This creates some problems with handling the Heisenberg equations as, in general, operators do not commute and then in the course of solution of the equations we may face the problem of ordering of the operators. It is usually resolved by putting the operators in the normal order. We have gained some experience with the Heisenberg equations of motion in Chapter 6, Example 6.3, where we studied squeezing generation in the nonlinear degenerate parametric amplifier (DPA) process. Here, we illustrate the technique on the standard model of a two-level atom interacting with a multi-mode field. We then generalize the technique to some specific models such as Lorenz- Maxwell and Langevin equations, the derivation of which involves some approximations that can be applied only in some limited cases. We also present in detail the Floquet approach, which is usually applied to problems determined by differential equations with time- dependent coefficients.

Star product and ordered moments of photon creation and annihilation operators

Sergey N. Filippov, Vladimir I. Man’ko

We develop a star-product scheme of symbols defined by the normally ordered powers of the creation and annihilation photon operators, . The corresponding phase space is a two-dimensional lattice with nodes ( m , n ) given by pairs of non-negative integers. The star-product kernel of symbols on the lattice and intertwining kernels to other schemes are found in an explicit form. Analysis of peculiar properties of the star-product kernel results in new sum relations for factorials. Advantages of the developed star-product scheme for describing dynamics of quantum systems are discussed and time evolution equations in terms of the ordered moments are derived.
