Abstract

In this paper, we study the nonlinear kerr effect in an inverted Y-type five-level atom moving through an open cavity. Under realistic parameters, we show that the kerr-medium affects the atomic population inversion and the phase probability distribution. A remarkable feature of the present model is that the kerr nonlinearity with a multi-level atom allows for a large detection of the system dynamics. These results offer new possibilities for controlling the system dynamics using the time-dependent interaction.

On a moving four-level N-type atom interacting with two-mode cavity field in the presence of the cross-Kerr medium

N. H. Abdel-Wahab, Lamia E. Thabet

In this paper, some properties through the moving four-level [Formula: see text]-type atom interacting with a two-mode radiation field are presented. We study this system in the presence of the nonlinearity. The exact solution of this model is given by using the Schrödinger equation when the atom and the field are initially in an excited state and a squeezed state, respectively. We employed the results to perform a careful investigation of the temporal evolution of the cross-correlation function, the momentum increment, the difference mean photon numbers and the normal squeezing. The influence of the Kerr and the cross-Kerr medium parameters on these aspects is examined. It is found that the atom-field properties are affected by the changing of these parameters.

A moving four-levelN-type atom interacting with cavity fields

N. H. Abdel-Wahab

We study the non-resonant interaction of a moving four-level N -type atom with cavity fields in the presence of a nonlinear Kerr-like medium. The exact solutions of the considered models are obtained when the atom is initially in an upper state, while the field is in a coherent state. We derive an expression for the occupation numbers of the photon state. Also, the momentum increment of the atomic system is obtained. The influence of the detuning parameters or the Kerr medium on the evolution time of the momentum increment is examined numerically. The existence of the detuning parameters leads to the retraction of the revivals for the three atomic systems. On the other hand, the presence of the Kerr medium is conducive to increasing the regularity and periodicity of the collapse–revival phenomenon for the one- and two-mode systems, while chaotic behaviour occurs for the three-mode system.

A study of a nonlinear interaction between a two-mode cavity field and ♢-type four-level with field damping

A.‐S. F. Obada, M. M. A. Ahmed, A. A. Eied +2 more

In this paper, the effects of the field damping and Kerr-like medium on a system of a four-level atom in the [Formula: see text]-type interacting nonlinearly with a two-mode field are studied. Analytical solution of the system of differential equations resulting from the Schrödinger equation is obtained. The effects of detuning parameters, Kerr-like parameter, coupling function and damping rate are discussed for atomic population inversion, the second-order correlation function, Shannon information entropy, and linear entropy. Under justifiable all conditions, extreme entanglement states may appear periodically with the evolution of time. The arrival of the quantum system to a pure state can be controlled by variations of the Kerr medium and the damping parameters. The results also exhibit that the periods of strong and weak entanglement between the parts of the system are achieved during the periods of collapses and revivals of the atomic population inversion. Moreover, the photon distribution changes from non-classical to classical by increasing the damping rate.

Large Kerr index with amplification in an open four-level atomic system with twofold lower levels

Ali Raheli, Mostafa Sahrai, Abdolrahman Namdar +1 more

This paper presents a new freedom, which is the result of atomic injection and exit rates from a cavity associated with an open system, thus leading to a remarkable giant Kerr nonlinearity with applications in all-optical switching. The influence of atomic injection and exit rate from the cavity on nonlinear susceptibility of an open four-level Λ-type atomic system with twofold lower levels is investigated. It is found that large Kerr nonlinearity accompanied with probe gain can be obtained by adjusting the atomic injection rates and exit rate from the cavity, which is completely different from those presented in previous closed atomic systems. Phase control of Kerr nonlinearity in such an open atomic system is then studied.

A STUDY OF THE INTERACTION BETWEEN A FIVE-LEVEL ATOM AND A SINGLE-MODE CAVITY FIELD: FAN-TYPE

N. H. Abdel-Wahab

In this paper, a model describing the interaction of a five-level (85 Rb ) atom with one-mode cavity field including Kerr nonlinearity is discussed. Analytical solution for this model is presented when the atom is initially prepared in its upper state. The obtained results are then employed to examine the dynamical behavior of atomic inversion, field statistics and field squeezing when the input field is initially considered in a coherent state. It is found that the atom-field properties are influenced by the changing of the coupling constants, the detuning parameters and the Kerr medium.

A nonlinear quantum scheme of a single mode optical field and a four-level atom under energy dissipation effect

Bahaaudin Mohammadnoor Raffah, K. Berrada, Eied Mahmoud Khalil +1 more

Abstract In this interferometry the geometrical phase, von-Neumann entropy, and non-classical features of a field interacting with a four-level moving atom in the presence of a Kerr medium were investigated. We highlight the influence of intensity-dependent coupling and energy dissipation to examine the temporal behavior of the geometrical phase, the statistical properties of the field as well as the von-Neumann entropy. The results show that the evolution of system dynamics, atomic von-Neumann entropy, and geometrical phase are strongly influenced by the Kerr medium, field mode structure, and atomic motion. Using empirically available parameters, we test this result, and many new items are discovered.
