Disappearance of squeezing in superposition states and its manifestation in the energy density

Abstract

Abstract We have classified the superposition of squeezed wavepackets into two kinds and studied their quadrature squeezing. We have shown that the squeezing and higher-order squeezing in the quadrature disappear for the states of the first kind. However, for the second kind, it is possible to achieve the maximum amount of squeezing by adjusting the parameters in the superposition. The absence of squeezing for the superposition states is explained based on the expectation value of the energy density. We find that the expectation value of energy density in quantum wavepackets that shows no squeezing is positive. We have also studied the relationship between energy density and the squeezing in the decoherence dynamics of single and two-mode squeezed states. Our further analysis shows that different types of squeezed states, including states which are not wavepackets, exhibit negative energy density.

Quantum properties of a superposition of squeezed displaced two-mode vacuum and single-photon states

Faisal A. A. El-Orany, A.‐S. F. Obada, Zafer M. Asker +1 more

In this paper, we study some quantum properties of a superposition of displaced squeezed two-mode vacuum and single-photon states, such as the second-order correlation function, the Cauchy-Schwartz inequality, quadrature squeezing, quasiprobability distribution functions and purity. This type of states includes two mechanisms, namely, interference in phase space and entanglement. We show that these states can exhibit sub-Piossonian statistics, squeezing and deviate from the classical Cauchy-Schwartz inequality. Moreover, the amount of entanglement in the system can be increased by increasing the squeezing mechanism. In the framework of the quasiprobability distribution functions we show that the single-mode state can tend to thermal state based on the correlation mechanism. Generation scheme for such states is given.

Higher-order squeezing properties of two-mode squeezed states

Jiaxin Gong, P. K. Aravind

We have investigated the properties of two-mode squeezed states of various kinds: squeezed coherent states, squeezed number states, squeezed thermal states, and squeezed number-thermal states. The properties studied include characteristic functions, photon number distributions, and high-order moments. We show that a two-mode squeezed coherent state appears in either of its modes as a Glauber-Lachs superposition of a coherent signal with thermal noise; this generalizes the well-known thermofield result that a two-mode squeezed vacuum state behaves like a pure thermal state in either of its modes. We investigate the higher-order squeezing (in the sense of Hong and Mandel) of squeezed coherent-thermal and squeezed number-thermal states. Although the squeezing is found to increase with order in both cases, there are nevertheless interesting differences that can be traced to the fact that the Wigner function has a Gaussian form for the former but not for the latter.

Entropic Squeezing and Quadrature Squeezing for the Superposition State of the Vacuum and the Coherent State

Hongcai Li

The entropic squeezing and quadrature squeezing for the superposition state of the vacuum and the coherent state |α〉 is studied, and their relations is discussed. The results show that: if the parameter b and the coherent state's swing R are given different values, the entropic squeezing is content with the entropic uncertainty relation and the quadrature squeezing satisfies the Hersenberg uncertainty relation, what's more, both of them, the entropic squeezing is a more sensitive measure for the squeezing effect of the field.

Squeezing and slowed quantum decoherence in the double-slit experiment

Lucas S. Marinho, I. G. da Paz, Marcos Sampaio

We study the slowing of the decoherence effect in the double-slit experiment by considering an initially correlated Gaussian state. The effects of the decoherence are included in a specific propagator which we use to obtain the density matrix at the detection screen. We calculate the uncertainties in the position and momentum for the density matrix as a function of the decoherence at the detection screen. We show that for a contractive initial state and specific times of propagation the state at the detection screen is squeezed in position in comparison with the standard Gaussian superposition. For this squeezed Gaussian superposition state, we observe that the fringe visibility is more robust to the decoherence in comparison with the standard Gaussian superposition. Then, we calculate the negativity of the Wigner function and study its behavior as a function of the decoherence and correlation parameters at the detection screen. We observe that the negativity decreases more slowly for the squeezed Gaussian superposition.

Statistical and Squeezing Proprieties of Superposed Single-Mode Squeezed Chaotic State

Alemayehu Getahun Kumela

In this paper we have studied the statistical and squeezing proprieties of light produced by superposition of a pair of single-mode squeezed chaotic light beams. Applying density operator of single-mode squeezed chaotic state; we obtain the anti-normal order characteristics function which enables us to find the Q function. With the resulting Q function, we calculate the photon statistics and the Quadrature squeezing for single-mode squeezed chaotic light. Moreover applying Q function of single-mode squeezed chaotic state the superposed light beams would be driven. With the resulting Q function we calculated the photon statics and the quadrature squeezing for superposed light beams. To get the maximum squeezing to be 95%, for nth = 0 and r = 1.5.
