We investigate the effects of many-body correlations on the ground-state properties of a single-component ultracold Rydberg-dressed Fermi liquid with purely repulsive interparticle interactions in both three and two spatial dimensions. We employed the Fermi-hypernetted-chain Euler-Lagrange approximation and observed that the contribution of the correlation energy on the ground-state energy becomes significant at intermediate values of the soft-core radius and large coupling strengths. For small and large soft-core radii, the correlation energy is negligible and the ground-state energy approaches the Hartree-Fock value. The positions of the main peaks in static structure factor and pair distribution function in the homogeneous fluid phase signal the formation of quantum droplet crystals with several particles confined inside each droplet.

We investigate the ground-state properties and excitations of Rydberg-dressed bosons in both three and two dimensions, using the hypernetted-chain Euler-Lagrange approximation, which accounts for correlations and thus goes beyond the mean-field approximation. The short-range behavior of the pair distribution function signals the instability of the homogeneous system with respect to the formation of droplet crystals at strong couplings and large soft-core radius. This tendency to spatial density modulation coexists with off-diagonal long-range order. The contribution of the correlation energy to the ground-state energy is significant at large coupling strengths and intermediate values of the soft-core radius while for a larger soft-core radius the ground-state energy is dominated by the mean-field (Hartree) energy. We have also performed path integral Monte Carlo simulations at selected system parameters to verify the performance of our hypernetted-chain Euler-Lagrange results in three dimensions. In the homogeneous phase, the two approaches are in very good agreement. Moreover, Monte Carlo simulations predict a first-order quantum phase transition from a homogeneous superfluid phase to the quantum droplet phase with face-centered cubic symmetry for Rydberg-dressed bosons in three dimensions.
Interacting Fermi gas provides an ideal model system to understand unconventional pairing and intertwined orders relevant to a large class of quantum materials. Rydberg-dressed Fermi gas is a recent experimental system where the sign, strength, and range of the interaction can be controlled. The interaction in momentum space has a negative minimum at qc inversely proportional to the characteristic length scale in real space, the soft-core radius rc. We show theoretically that single-component (spinless) Rydberg-dressed Fermi gas in two dimensions has a rich phase diagram with superfluid and density wave orders due to the interplay of the Fermi momentum pF, interaction range rc, and interaction strength u0. For repulsive bare interactions u0>0, the dominant instability is a f-wave superfluid for ${p}_{F}{r}_{c}\ensuremath{\lesssim}2$ and a density wave for ${p}_{F}{r}_{c}\ensuremath{\gtrsim}4$. The f-wave pairing in this repulsive Fermi gas is reminiscent of the conventional Kohn-Luttinger mechanism but has a much higher Tc. For attractive bare interactions u0<0, the leading instability is p-wave pairing. The phase diagram is obtained from a functional renormalization group that treats all competing many-body instabilities in the particle-particle and particle-hole channels on an equal footing.
We investigate the ground-state properties and the collective modes of a two-dimensional two-component Rydberg-dressed Fermi liquid in the dipole-blockade regime. We find instability of the homogeneous system toward phase-separated and density ordered phases, using the Hartree-Fock and random-phase approximations, respectively. The spectral weight of collective density oscillations in the homogenous phase also signals the emergence of density-wave instability. We examine the effect of exchange hole on the density-wave instability and on the collective-mode dispersion using the Hubbard local-field factor.
Ground-state properties of a two-dimensional fluid of bosons with repulsive dipole-dipole interactions are studied by means of the Euler-Lagrange hypernetted-chain approximation. We present a self-consistent semianalytical theory of the pair distribution function g(r) and ground-state energy of this system. Our approach is based on the solution of a zero-energy scattering Schr\"odinger equation for the ``pair amplitude'' g(r) with an effective potential from Jastrow-Feenberg correlations. We find excellent agreement with quantum Monte Carlo results over a wide range of coupling strength, nearly up to the critical coupling for the liquid-to-crystal quantum phase transition. We also calculate the one-body density matrix and related quantities, such as the momentum distribution function and the condensate fraction.
Abstract We systematically explore isotropic self-bound liquid states and topological vortex excitations in two-dimensional binary Bose-Einstein condensates with tunable Rydberg soft-core interactions, modeled by the Gross-Pitaevskii equation incorporating the two-dimensional Lee-Huang-Yang quantum correction. Combining analytical Thomas-Fermi treatment with high-precision numerical simulations, we obtain stable fundamental and vortex-carrying quantum droplet solutions and investigate their collisional dynamics. The particle number N and Rydberg coupling strength κ are shown to systematically modulate the spatial and thermodynamic properties of both vortex-free and ring-shaped vortex liquids. In the repulsive regime κ > 0, our results agree quantitatively with those of magnetic quadrupolar condensates, confirming a common stabilization scenario for two-dimensional quantum fluids. More importantly, the Rydberg system distinguishes itself by offering fully isotropic, sign-switchable interactions and sustaining stable vortex droplets with winding numbers up to m = 4 over broad parameter ranges—features that are severely constrained in anisotropic quadrupolar counterparts.Collisions between moving zero-vorticity and vortex self-bound droplets are briefly discussed, demonstrate that their collisional dynamics are universal under the competing nonlocal repulsion and the logarithmic Lee-Huang-Yang effect.
The liquid and crystal phases of a single-component Fermi gas with dipolar interactions are investigated using quantum Monte Carlo methods in two spatial dimensions and at zero temperature. The dipoles are oriented by an external field perpendicular to the plane of motion, resulting in a purely repulsive 1/r(3) interaction. In the liquid phase we calculate the equation of state as a function of the interaction strength and other relevant properties characterizing the Fermi-liquid behavior: effective mass, discontinuity at the Fermi surface, and pair correlation function. In the high density regime we calculate the equation of state of the Wigner crystal phase and the critical density of the liquid to solid quantum phase transition. Close to the freezing density we also search for the existence of a stripe phase, but such a phase is never found to be energetically favorable.
