Abstract

Abstract In this paper, we explore the properties of holographic entanglement entropy (HEE), mutual information (MI) and entanglement of purification (EoP) in holographic Lifshitz theory. These informational quantities exhibit some universal properties of holographic dual field theory. For most configuration parameters and temperatures, these informational quantities change monotonically with the Lifshitz dynamical critical exponent z. However, we also observe some non-monotonic behaviors for these informational quantities in some specific spaces of configuration parameters and temperatures. A particularly interesting phenomenon is that a dome-shaped diagram emerges in the behavior of MI vs z, and correspondingly a trapezoid-shaped profile appears in that of EoP vs z. This means that for some specific configuration parameters and temperatures, the system measured in terms of MI and EoP is entangled only in a certain intermediate range of z.

Non-conformal behavior of holographic entanglement measures

M. Ali-Akbari, M. Asadi, B. Amrahi

Abstract We evaluate the holographic entanglement entropy, HEE, holographic mutual information, HMI, and holographic entanglement of purification, EoP, in a non-conformal model at zero and finite temperature. In order to find the analytical results we consider some specific regimes of the parameter space. We find that the non-conformal effects decrease the redefined HEE and increase the redefined HMI and EoP in the all studied regimes. On the other side, the temperature effects increase (decrease) the redefined HEE (HMI) in the all studied regimes while it has no definite effect on the redefined EoP. Finally, from the information point of view, we find that in the vicinity of the phase transition the zero temperature state is more favorable than the finite temperature one.

Mixed state entanglement for holographic axion model

Yifei Huang, Zijian Shi, Chao Niu +2 more

Abstract We study the mixed state entanglement in a holographic axion model. We find that the holographic entanglement entropy (HEE), mutual information (MI) and entanglement of purification (EoP) exhibit very distinct behaviors with system parameters. The HEE exhibits universal monotonic behavior with system parameters, while the behaviors of MI and EoP relate to the specific system parameters and configurations. We find that MI and EoP can characterize mixed state entanglement better than HEE since they are less affected by thermal effects. Specifically, the MI partly cancels out the thermal entropy contribution, while the holographic EoP is not dictated by the thermal entropy in any situation. Moreover, we argue that EoP is more suitable for describing mixed state entanglement than MI. Because the MI of large configurations are still dictated by the thermal entropy, while the EoP will never be controlled only by the thermal effects.

Holographic mutual information and critical exponents of the strongly coupled plasma

Hajar Ebrahim, Gol-Mohammad Nafisi

This paper contains discussions on the entanglement entropy and mutual information of a strongly coupled field theory with a critical point which has a holographic dual. We investigate analytically, in the specific regimes of parameters, how these nonlocal operators behave near the critical point. Interestingly, we observe that although the mutual information is constant at the critical point, its slope shows a power-law divergence in the vicinity of the critical point. We show that the leading behavior of mutual information at and near the critical point could yield a set of critical exponents if we regard it as an order parameter. Our result for this set of static critical exponents is $(1/2,1/2,1/2,2)$ which is identical to the one calculated via the thermodynamic quantities. Hence it suggests that beside the numerous merits of mutual information, this quantity also captures the critical behavior of the underlying field theory and it could be used as a proper measure to probe the phase structure associated with the strongly coupled systems.

Entanglement measures for nonconformal D-branes

Arindam Lala

We study various entanglement measures associated with certain nonconformal field theories. We consider nonconformal $\mathrm{D}p$-brane backgrounds, which are dual to these field theories, for our holographic analysis. Restricting our interests in $p=1$, 2, 4, we explicitly compute properties of holographic entanglement entropy and the entanglement wedge cross section, ${\mathrm{E}}_{W}$, corresponding to two parallel strip shaped boundary subregions in these setups. We study low and high temperature behaviors of these quantities analytically as well as by using numerical methods. In all cases, the ${\mathrm{E}}_{W}$ decreases monotonically with temperature. We observe discontinuous jumps in ${\mathrm{E}}_{W}$, while the width of (as well as the separation between) the subregions reaches critical values in all the cases considered. However, the corresponding holographic mutual information ${\mathtt{I}}_{M}$ continuously decreases to zero for the aforementioned configurations. We also notice that the conjectured inequality ${\mathrm{E}}_{W}\ensuremath{\ge}{\mathtt{I}}_{M}/2$ still holds for nonconformal field theories as well. We analytically determine the critical separation between these subregions that triggers a phase transition in the holographic mutual information.

Information theoretic measures for Lifshitz system

Souvik Paul, Anirban Roy Chowdhury, Ashis Saha +1 more

A bstract In this work, we have studied various mixed state information theoretic quantities for an excited state of Lifshitz spacetime in 3 + 1-dimensions. This geometry is the gravity dual to a class of 2 + 1-dimensional quantum field theories having Lifshitz symmetry. We have holographically calculated mutual information, entanglement wedge cross section, entanglement negativity and mutual complexity for strip like subsystems at the boundary. For this we have used the results of holographic entanglement entropy and complexity present in the literature. We first calculate all of these mentioned quantities for the pure state of Lifshitz spacetime. Then we have moved on to calculate all these quantities for excited state of the Lifshitz spacetime. The gravity dual of excited state of Lifshitz systems in field theory can be obtained by applying constant perturbations along the boundary direction. Further, we would like to mention that for the simplicity of calculation we are only considering results up to the first order in perturbation. The change in the obtained holographic information theoretic quantities are then related to entanglement entropy, entanglement pressure, entanglement chemical potential and charge using the stress tensor complex. These relations are analogous to the first law of entanglement thermodynamics given earlier in the literature. All the calculations are carried out for both values of dynamical scaling exponent ( z ) present in the Lifshitz field theory.

Entanglement and mutual information in two-dimensional nonrelativistic field theories

Seyed Morteza Hosseini, Álvaro Véliz-Osorio

We carry out a systematic study of entanglement entropy in nonrelativistic conformal field theories via holographic techniques. After a discussion of recent results concerning Galilean conformal field theories, we deduce a novel expression for the entanglement entropy of ($1+1$)-dimensional Lifshitz field theories---this is done both at zero and finite temperature. Based on these results, we pose a conjecture for the anomaly coefficient of a Lifshitz field theory dual to new massive gravity. It is found that the Lifshitz entanglement entropy at finite temperature displays a striking similarity with that corresponding to a flat space cosmology in three dimensions. We claim that this structure is an inherent feature of the entanglement entropy for nonrelativistic conformal field theories. We finish by exploring the behavior of the mutual information for such theories.
