ON THE THREE-DIMENSIONAL PAULI EQUATION IN NONCOMMUTATIVE PHASE-SPACE

Abstract

In this paper, we obtained the three-dimensional Pauli equation for a spin-1/2 particle in the presence of an electromagnetic field in a noncommutative phase-space as well as the corresponding deformed continuity equation, where the cases of a constant and non-constant magnetic fields are considered. Due to the absence of the current magnetization term in the deformed continuity equation as expected, we had to extract it from the noncommutative Pauli equation itself without modifying the continuity equation. It is shown that the non-constant magnetic field lifts the order of the noncommutativity parameter in both the Pauli equation and the corresponding continuity equation. However, we successfully examined the effect of the noncommutativity on the current density and the magnetization current. By using a classical treatment, we derived the semi-classical noncommutative partition function of the three-dimensional Pauli system of the one-particle and N-particle systems. Then, we employed it for calculating the corresponding Helmholtz free energy followed by the magnetization and the magnetic susceptibility of electrons in both commutative and noncommutative phase-spaces. Knowing that with both the three-dimensional Bopp-Shift transformation and the Moyal-Weyl product, we introduced the phase-space noncommutativity in the problems in question.

Ehrenfest's Theorem for the Dirac Equation in Noncommutative Phase-Space

Ilyas Haouam

In this article, we investigate Ehrenfest's theorem from the Dirac equation in a noncommutative phase-space where we calculate the time derivative of the position and the kinetic momentum operators for Dirac particles in interaction with electromagnetic field and within a noncommutative setting. This allows examining the effect of the phase-space noncommutativity on Ehrenfest's theorem. Knowing that with both the linear Bopp-Shift and Moyal-Weyl product, the noncommutativity is inserted.

Continuity Equation in Presence of a Non-Local Potential in Non-Commutative Phase-Space

Ilyas Haouam

We studied the continuity equation in presence of a local potential, and a non-local potential arising from electron-electron interaction in both commutative and non-commutative phase-space. Furthermore, we examined the influence of the phase-space non-commutativity on both the locality and the non-locality, where the definition of current density in commutative phase-space cannot satisfy the condition of current conservation, but with the steady state, in order to solve this problem, we give a new definition of the current density including the contribution due to the non-local potential. We showed that the calculated current based on the new definition of current density maintains the current. As well for the case when the non- commutativity in phase-space considered, we found that the conservation of the current density completely violated; and the non-commutativity is not suitable for describing the current density in presence of non-local and local potentials. Nevertheless, under some conditions, we modified the current density to solve this problem. Subsequently, as an application we studied the Frahn-Lemmer non-local potential, taking into account that the employed methods concerning the phase-space non-commutativity are both of Bopp-shift linear transformation through the Heisenberg-like commutation relations, and the Moyal-Weyl product.

Dynamics of dipoles and quantum phases in noncommutative coordinates

Ö. F. Dayi

The dynamics of a spin-(1/2) neutral particle possessing electric- and magnetic-dipole moments interacting with external electric and magnetic fields in noncommutative coordinates is obtained. Noncommutativity of space is interposed in terms of a semiclassical constrained Hamiltonian system. The relation between the quantum phase acquired by a particle interacting with an electromagnetic field and the (semi)classical force acting on the system is examined and generalized to establish a formulation of the quantum phases in noncommutative coordinates. The general formalism is applied to physical systems yielding the Aharonov-Bohm, Aharonov-Casher, He-McKellar-Wilkens and Anandan phases in noncommutative coordinates. Bounds for the noncommutativity parameter θ are derived comparing the deformed phases with the experimental data on the Aharonov-Bohm and Aharonov-Casher phases.

Quantum and pseudoclassical descriptions of nonrelativistic spinning particles in noncommutative space

Tiago C. Adorno, Mario Cesar Baldiotti, Dmitri M Gitman

We construct a nonrelativistic wave equation for spinning particles in the noncommutative space (in a sense, a $\ensuremath{\theta}$ modification of the Pauli equation). To this end, we consider the nonrelativistic limit of the $\ensuremath{\theta}$-modified Dirac equation. To complete the consideration, we present a pseudoclassical model (\`a la Berezin-Marinov) for the corresponding nonrelativistic particle in the noncommutative space. To justify the latter model, we demonstrate that its quantization leads to the $\ensuremath{\theta}$-modified Pauli equation. We extract $\ensuremath{\theta}$-modified interaction between a nonrelativistic spin and a magnetic field from such a Pauli equation and construct a $\ensuremath{\theta}$ modification of the Heisenberg model for two coupled spins placed in an external magnetic field. In the framework of such a model, we calculate the probability transition between two orthogonal Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen states for a pair of spins in an oscillatory magnetic field and show that some of such transitions, which are forbidden in the commutative space, are possible due to the space noncommutativity. This allows us to estimate an upper bound on the noncommutativity parameter.

Dirac equation with a magnetic field in 3D non-commutative phase space

梁麦林, 张亚彬, 杨瑞林 +1 more

For a spin-1/2 particle moving in a background magnetic field in noncommutative phase space, the Dirac equation is solved when the particle is allowed to move off the plane that the magnetic field is perpendicular to. It is shown that the motion of the charged particle along the magnetic field has the effect of increasing the magnetic field. In the classical limit, matrix elements of the velocity operator related to the probability give a clear physical picture. Along an effective magnetic field, the mechanical momentum is conserved and the motion perpendicular to the effective magnetic field follows a round orbit. If using the velocity operator defined by the coordinate operators, the motion becomes complicated.

WIGNER FUNCTIONS FOR THE LANDAU PROBLEM IN NONCOMMUTATIVE SPACES

Omer Faruk Dayi, LARA T. KELLEYANE

An electron moving on plane in a uniform magnetic field orthogonal to the plane is known as the Landau problem. Wigner functions for the Landau problem when the plane is noncommutative are found employing solutions of the Schrödinger equation as well as solving the ordinary ⋆-genvalue equation in terms of an effective Hamiltonian. Then, we let momenta and coordinates of the phase space be noncommutative and introduce a generalized ⋆-genvalue equation. We solve this equation to find the related Wigner functions and show that under an appropriate choice of noncommutativity relations they are independent of noncommutativity parameter.
