Bohmian mechanics of Klein–Gordon equation via quantum metric and mass

Abstract

The causal stochastic interpretation of relativistic quantum mechanics has the problems of superluminal velocities, motion backward in time and the incorrect non-relativistic limit. In this paper, according to the original ideas of de Broglie, Bohm and Takabayasi, we introduce simultaneously a quantum mass and a quantum metric of a curved spacetime to obtain a correct relativistic theory free of mentioned problems.

About Some Problems Raised by the Relativistic Form of De-Broglie–Bohm Theory of Pilot Wave

Ali Shojai, Fatimah Shojai

The standard relativistic de-Broglie–Bohm theory has the problems of tacyonic solutions and the incorrect non-relativistic limit. In this paper we obtain a relativistic theory, not decomposing the relativistic wave equations but looking for a generalization of non-relativistic Bohmian theory in such a way that the correct non-relativistic limit emerges. In this way we are able to construct a relativistic de-Broglie–Bohm theory both for a single particle and for a many-particle system. At the end, the theory is extended to the curved space-time and the connection with quantum gravity is discussed.

Relativistic Bohmain Mechanics

Jafar Khodagholizadeh, Javad Kazemi, Alireza Babazadeh

In this paper we generalize the ideas of de Broglie and Bohm to the relativistic case which is based on the relativistic Schrödinger equation. In this regard, the relativistic forms of the guidance equation and quantum potential are derived. In our formulation of Relativistic Bohmian Mechanic, the quantum equilibrium hypothesis $(ρ=|ψ|^{2})$ and the probabilistic interpretation of the wave function are not an intrinsic feature of the theory as well as expected from the theoretical structure of Bohmian mechanics but still we can extract the statistical predictions of this theory. In fact with assuming the quantum equilibrium hypothesis in non-relativistic case and then acceleration to particles by an external field we go to the relativistic regime. So in this case the quantum equilibrium would not be established and theory will have testable predictions that can be experienced, or this will be compared to the result of relativistic quantum mechanics. In some simple cases such calculations have been done.

Fundamental Klein-Gordon Equation from Stochastic Mechanics in Curved Spacetime

Eric S. Escobar-Aguilar, Tonatiuh Matos, J. I. Jiménez-Aquino

Abstract This work presents an alternative approach to obtain the quantum field equations in curved spacetime, considering that sufficiently small particles follow stochastic trajectories around geodesic. Our proposal is based on a stochastic differential equation in which the noise term experienced by the quantum particles is a consequence of the stochastic background in spacetime. This fact allows the particles to describe erratic movements and locally the universe exhibits characteristics akin to a lake with gentle ripples rather than a flat unyielding surface. Building upon this foundational understanding, we investigate the influence of this background on quantum-scale particles without considering the metric to be stochastic, rather we let test particles move randomly around the geodesic of macroscopic particles. Their behavior aligns with solutions to the Klein-Gordon (KG) equation specific to this curved spacetime. As the KG equation, in its non-relativistic limit within a flat spacetime, reduces to the Schrödinger equation, consequently, we propose a compelling connection: the Schrödinger equation may emerge directly from a spacetime lacking local smoothness.

Quantum mechanics without quantum potentials

Adam Brownstein

The issue of non-locality in quantum mechanics can potentially be resolved by considering relativistically covariant diffusion in four-dimensional spacetime. Stochastic particles described by the Klein-Gordon equation are shown to undergo a classical diffusion process in spacetime coordinates, which is seen by transforming the quantum Cauchy-momentum equations to a Lagrangian frame of reference. Since the quantum potential term is removed under this transformation, the equations for momentum propagation along particle trajectories assume a classical form. A local stochastic de Broglie-Bohm interpretation for the Klein-Gordon system can subsequently be derived. We also introduce the concept of momentum equivariance to replace the second-order Bohm-Newton equations of motion, which break down due to non-linear terms of the stochastic Lagrangian derivative.

A geometrical dual to relativistic Bohmian mechanics - the multi particle case

Benjamin Koch

In this article it is shown that the fundamental equations of relativistic Bohmian mechanics for multiple bosonic particles have a dual description in terms of a classical theory of curved space-time. We further generalize the results to interactions with an external electromagnetic field, which corresponds to the minimally coupled Klein-Gordon equation.

Relativistic Bohmian mechanics revisited: A covariant reformulation for spin-1/2 particles

Mohamed Hatifi

We present a novel covariant relativistic guidance formula à la de Broglie-Bohm derived from conserved quantities associated with the Lagrangian of the Dirac equation in a 1+1-dimensional spacetime. In line with the standard guidance formula of Bohmian mechanics, this generalized guidance formula incorporates space-time derivatives of the Dirac spinor phases and consistently reproduces relativistic features such as mass-dependent trajectories and zitterbewegung. We formally show that this formulation explicitly reveals how the relativistic quantum potential affects the trajectories. Using numerical simulations, we compare these trajectories with those presented in the usual approaches. Finally, we show how the guidance formula naturally transitions to the standard de Broglie-Bohm theory in the non-relativistic limit and gives additional contributions in the expansions giving new insight into the zitterbewegung in pilot-wave theories.
