Abstract

We address de-Gaussification of continuous variables Gaussian states by optimal non-deterministic noiseless linear amplifier (NLA) and analyze in details the properties of the amplified states. In particular, we investigate the entanglement content and the non-Gaussian character for the class of non-Gaussian entangled state obtained by using NL-amplification of two-mode squeezed vacua (twin-beam, TWB). We show that entanglement always increases, whereas improved EPR correlations are observed only when the input TWB has low energy. We then examine a Braunstein-Kimble-like protocol for the teleportation of coherent states, and compare the performances of TWB-based teleprotation with those obtained using NL-amplified resources. We show that teleportation fidelity and security may be improved for a large range of NLA parameters (gain and threshold).

Quantum state engineering by nondeterministic noiseless linear amplification

Hamza Adnane, Matteo Bina, Francesco Albarelli +2 more

We address quantum state engineering of single- and two-mode states by means of nondeterministic noiseless linear amplifiers (NLAs) acting on Gaussian states. In particular, we consider the optimal implementation of a NLA proposed by Pandey et al. [Phys. Rev. A 88, 033852 (2013)] and we show that it provides an effective scheme to generate highly non-Gaussian and nonclassical states, when used outside the regime of high-fidelity amplification. Additionally, we show that in this regime also the amplification of a two-mode squeezed vacuum state (twin-beam) highly increases entanglement.

Analysis of continuous-variable quantum teleportation enhanced by measurement-based noiseless quantum amplification

Jaromı́r Fiurášek

Continuous-variable quantum teleportation enables deterministic teleportation of quantum states of optical modes. However, the state transfer is imperfect and limited by the amount of squeezing in the shared two-mode entangled state. Recently, it has been proposed and experimentally demonstrated that the performance of continuous-variable teleportation can be conditionally improved using a measurement-based noiseless quantum amplification [J. Zhao et al., Nat. Commun.14, 4745 (2023)10.1038/s41467-023-40438-z]. An inverse Gaussian filter with sufficiently high cut-off is applied to outcomes of the continuous-variable Bell measurement, which can increase the fidelity of state teleportation and the cost of making the protocol probabilistic. Here we provide a detailed theoretical analysis of this protocol and discuss its effects and limitations. We focus on teleportation of classes of Gaussian states with fixed covariance matrix and variable displacement. The measurement-based noiseless amplification conditionally improves the precision of estimation of the coherent displacement of the teleported state from the outcomes of continuous-variable Bell measurement. Therefore, more information about the teleported state is revealed and unity-gain teleportation becomes possible with a lower added thermal noise as compared to deterministic teleportation.

Teleportation of squeezing: Optimization using non-Gaussian resources

Fabio Dell’Anno, Silvio De Siena, Gerardo Adesso +1 more

We study the continuous-variable quantum teleportation of states, statistical moments of observables, and scale parameters such as squeezing. We investigate the problem both in ideal and imperfect Vaidman-Braunstein-Kimble protocol setups. We show how the teleportation fidelity is maximized and the difference between output and input variances is minimized by using suitably optimized entangled resources. Specifically, we consider the teleportation of coherent squeezed states, exploiting squeezed Bell states as entangled resources. This class of non-Gaussian states, introduced by Illuminati and co-workers [F. Dell'Anno, S. De Siena, L. Albano, and F. Illuminati, Phys. Rev. A 76, 022301 (2007); F. Dell'Anno, S. De Siena, and F. Illuminati, Phys. Rev. A 81, 012333 (2010)], includes photon-added and photon-subtracted squeezed states as special cases. At variance with the case of entangled Gaussian resources, the use of entangled non-Gaussian squeezed Bell resources allows one to choose different optimization procedures that lead to inequivalent results. Performing two independent optimization procedures, one can either maximize the state teleportation fidelity, or minimize the difference between input and output quadrature variances. The two different procedures are compared depending on the degrees of displacement and squeezing of the input states and on the working conditions in ideal and nonideal setups.

Continuous-variable quantum teleportation with non-Gaussian resources

Fabio Dell’Anno, Silvio De Siena, L. Albano Farias +1 more

We investigate continuous variable quantum teleportation using non-Gaussian states of the radiation field as entangled resources. We compare the performance of different classes of degaussified resources, including two-mode photon-added and two-mode photon-subtracted squeezed states. We then introduce a class of two-mode squeezed Bell-like states with one-parameter dependence for optimization. These states interpolate between and include as subcases different classes of degaussified resources. We show that optimized squeezed Bell-like resources yield a remarkable improvement in the fidelity of teleportation both for coherent and nonclassical input states. The investigation reveals that the optimal non-Gaussian resources for continuous variable teleportation are those that most closely realize the simultaneous maximization of the content of entanglement, the degree of affinity with the two-mode squeezed vacuum, and the, suitably measured, amount of non-Gaussianity.

Performance of a two-mode coherent superposed channel in continuous-variable quantum teleportation

Deepak, Arpita Chatterjee

Glauber's coherent state is denoted by $\ketα$ and its two-mode extension is represented by $\ket{α,β}$. In this work, we introduce a two-mode superposition operator $A=tab+ra^\dagger b^\dagger$, whose action on the two-mode coherent state produces the two-mode coherent superposed quantum state $\ketψ=(tab+ra^\dagger b^\dagger)\ket{α,β}$. We investigate the nonclassicality and quantum non-Gaussianity of this state by means of the Wigner distribution and Wigner logarithmic negativity. Once its intrinsic nonclassical and non-Gaussian structure is established, the state is employed as the entangled resource in the Braunstein-Kimble continuous-variable (CV) teleportation protocol. We compute the ideal teleportation fidelity for coherent and squeezed inputs and analyze how the strengths of nonclassicality and non-Gaussianity influence the teleportation efficiency. Our results identify specific parameter regimes where enhanced non-Gaussian features or increased nonclassicality enable fidelities beyond the classical threshold, thereby revealing the operational significance of engineered two-mode quantum states in CV quantum information processing.
