We present the development of a realistic geometro-hydrodynamical formalism of quantum mechanics for the spinning particle, that involves the vortical flows and is based on the idea that the spinor wave represents a new type of physical field, propagating in space-time and influencing a corpuscle embedded in the wave. We assume that this new field is created by the intrinsic spin of the particle and can produce new intrinsic forces and torques affecting the particle with spin. We derive and discuss the physical effects of this field.

Using the hydrodynamical formalism of quantum mechanics for a Schrodinger spinning particle, developed by T. Takabayashi, J. P. Vigier and followers, that involves vortical flows, we propose the new geometrical interpretation of the wave-pilot theory. The spinor wave in this interpretation represents an objectively real field and the evolution of a material particle controlled by the wave is a manifestation of the geometry of space. We assume this field to have a geometrical nature, basing on the idea that the intrinsic angular momentum, the spin, modifies the geometry of the space, which becomes a manifold, that is represented as a vector bundle with a base formed by the translational coordinates and time, and the fiber of the bundle, specified at each point by the field of an tetrad eμa, forms from the bilinear combinations of spinor wave function. It was shown, that the spin vector rotates following the geodesic of the space with torsion and the particle moves according to the geometrized guidance equation. This fact explains the self-action of the spinning particle. We show that the curvature and torsion of the spin vector line is determined by the space torsion of the absolute parallelism geometry.
It is shown that a natural extension of the hydrodynamical formalism of quantum mechanics for a Schrödinger particle to include vortical flows leads to the hydrodynamical formalism of quantum mechanics for a spinning particle. This latter formalism is then analysed in regard to its characteristic features, especially the subsidiary condition connecting the vorticity of flow with the inhomogeneity of spin field and the existence of spin stress. Also the formalism is brought to completion by establishing the global condition that quantizes circulation around a singular vortex line. The geometro-hydrodynamical formalism which is equivalent to the above hydrodynamical formalism but introduces a triad structure underlying the classical spin is reconstructed on its own footing. The geometrical property of the triad implies the invariance of theory with respect to the rotation of each triad around its symmetry axis by an arbitrary angle, and this necessitates the introduction of the electromagnetic potential, providing the geometrical interpretation of local gauge invariance. Applications of theory to various special cases and typical examples are deferred to Part II.
Abstract Using the hydrodynamical formalism of quantum mechanics for a Schrödinger spinning particle developed by Takabayashi, Vigier, and followers, which involves vortical flows, we propose a new geometrical interpretation of the pilot wave theory. The spinor wave in this interpretation represents an objectively real field, and the evolution of a material particle controlled by the wave is a manifestation of the geometry of space. We assume this field to have a geometrical nature, basing on the idea that the intrinsic angular momentum, the spin, modifies the geometry of the space, which becomes a manifold, represented as a vector bundle with a base formed by the translational coordinates and time, and the fiber of the bundle, specified at each point by the field of a tetrad eμa, forms from bilinear combinations of the spinor wave function. It has been shown that the spin vector rotates following the geodesic of the space with torsion, and the particle moves according to the geometrized guidance equation. This fact explains the self-action of the spinning particle. We show that the curvature and torsion of the spin vector line is determined by the space torsion of the absolute parallelism geometry.
The hydrodynamic representation of quantum mechanics describes virtual flow as if a quantum system were fluid in motion. This formulation illustrates pointlike vortices when the phase of a wavefunction becomes nonintegrable at nodal points. We study the dynamics of such pointlike vortices in the hydrodynamic representation for a two-particle wavefunction. In particular, we discuss how quantum entanglement influences vortex–vortex dynamics. For this purpose, we employ the time-dependent quantum variational principle combined with the Rayleigh–Ritz method. We analyze the vortex dynamics and establish connections with Dirac’s generalized Hamiltonian formalism.
A quantum-mechanical non-relativistic spinnig particle is represented equivalently with a non-linear vector field which defines a new kind of hydrodynamics of a spinning fluid. In this hydrodynamics, quantum effects are separated as non-linear terms which mean the occurrence of “internal potential” and “internal magnetic field”. Mathematically, the method is based upon the replacement of the original calculus in terms of a spinor ψ by the calculus in terms of tensors formed as the bilinear expressions in ψ*. This article (hereafter called I) and also the major part of the subsequent one (hereafter called II) which will appear in succession, are the translation of the paper which appeared in Soryusiron-Kenkyu 7, pp. 600–640, (January 1955) in Japanese, while a brief account of these works was reported in Prog. Theor. Phys. 12 (1954), 810. Very recently articles by Bohm, Schiller, and Tiomno appeared (Nuovo Cimento 1, Suppl. (1955), 48, 67), in which they investigated, independently of us, the similar hydrodynamical method for the purpose of a “ causal interpretation ” of quantum theory in the case of a non-relativistic spinning particle. However, their method stands upon Euler angle representation of the spinor (cf II), not directly concerned with the self-contained tensor formulation of the spinor equation and ψ. This replacement is ensured by setting up the identities which should hold among those tensor quantities.
The starting point of this research is a representation of a quantum particle according to the Schrodinger equation of the conventional quantum mechanics. In this representation, a quantum particle is described by a wave packet in the coordinate space and the conjugated wave packet in the momentum space. The problem is that while in the coordinate space the group velocity is in agreement with one of the Hamilton equations, the group velocity in the momentum space is in contradiction with the other Hamilton equation - a minus sign is missing. Group velocities in agreement with the Hamilton equations are obtained only when in the time dependent phase of a quantum particle wave packet, instead of the Hamiltonian coming from the conventional Schrodinger equation, the Lagrangian is considered. This suggests us to consider the relativistic Lagrangian in the time dependent phase. In this way, the conventional relativistic principle of invariance of the time-space interval gets the more physically understandable form of the invariance of the time dependent phase of a quantum particle - the time dependent phase of a quantum particle is the same in any system of coordinates. Based on the relativistic time dependent phase invariance of a quantum particle, from the group velocities of this particle the relativistic kinematics and dynamics are obtained. The interaction with an electromagnetic field is described by a modification of the time dependent phase with a scalar potential conjugated to time and a vector potential conjugated to the space coordinates. In this paper, we find that, according to the formalism of the general relativity, any matter element in a field of forces is accelerated only perpendicularly to its velocity. This means that the matter propagation of a quantum particle can be conceived in planes perpendicular to velocity, while the mater distribution can be considered in a Fourier representation - quantum waves. We study the quantum particle dynamics in gravitational waves and derive the graviton spin. We consider a quantum particle in electromagnetic field and obtain a Schrödinger-Dirac-type equation, with additional terms describing the velocity dependence of the particle dynamics.
