Nonclassical features of an open qubit cavity QED system

We investigate the dynamics of quantum correlations and measurement uncertainty in a two-qubit system coupled to a cavity-QED system, characterized by various parameters such as qubit and cavity frequencies under resonant and off-resonant conditions, with equal and unequal coupling strengths. We emphasize asymmetric qubit relaxation and dephasing mechanisms, accompanied by cavity decay. In certain scenarios, separable initial states can outperform entangled states in maintaining quantum correlations over longer periods. We further uncover a trade-off between quantum correlations, measurement uncertainty, and mutual information. Additionally, we demonstrate that asymmetries in coupling strengths or qubit frequencies can enhance quantum correlations and induce irregular oscillations, suggesting new strategies for engineering robust quantum resources in open quantum systems. In comparison, we find that qubit relaxation leads to less decay than qubit dephasing. In contrast, quantum correlations are preserved much longer with appropriate tuning of the cavity decay rate. Finally, the concept of quantum speed limit is employed to assess the resourcefulness of our configuration.

Chaotic vacuum Rabi oscillations with moving two-level atoms in cavity QED: a new kind of reversible spontaneous emission

Igor Leonidovich Kirilyuk, Leonid E. Kon’kov, Sergey V. Prants

We study nonlinear dynamics in the fundamental cavity QED system, consisting of a point-like collection of two-level atoms moving through a single-mode cavity, with a spatially inhomogenous field. In the semiclassical, strong-coupling and rotating-wave approximations, the model is shown to be integrable with atoms moving at exact resonance through a cavity with an arbitrary spatial profile of the mode along the propagation axis. The general exact semiclassical solution is derived in an explicit form, in terms of Jacobian elliptic functions. Numerical simulation confirms that perturbations, which are produced by a modulation of the coupling between moving atoms and a cavity mode, provide, our of resonance, a mechanism responsible for Hamiltonian chaos. Taking into account the interatomic quantum correlations, we go beyond the semiclassical model and derive a dynamical system, which is able to describe vacuum Rabi oscillation with moving atoms. At resonance, this system is again shown to be integrable with a general semiquantum solution found. Out of resonance, it can demonstrate chaotic vacuum Rabi oscillations, which may be considered as a new kind of reversible spontaneous emission.

Two-photon blockade in a cascaded cavity-quantum-electrodynamics system

Qian Bin, Xin‐You Lü, Shang-Wu Bin +1 more

We investigate theoretically the model of a cavity-quantum-electrodynamics (QED) system that consists of two two-level atoms coupled to a single-mode cavity in the weak coupling regime, where the system is driven by quantum light. The dynamics behavior of the entire system is tackled in the framework of a cascaded quantum system. We find that the two-photon blockade with two-photon bunching and three-photon antibunching can be obtained even when the strong system dissipation is included. This result shows that our work has potential for realizing entangled photon pairs in a weakly coupled cavity. Moreover, we also analyze the photon statistics of the system in the case of out-of-resonance coupling between cavity and two nonidentical atoms. Here, an unconventional photon blockade effect with suppression of two-photon correlation and enhancement of three-photon correlation can be realized, which shows many quantum statistical characteristics of a cavity QED system in weak coupling.
