Abstract

We explore numerically the inverse participation ratios in the ground state of one-dimensional spin-1 $XXZ$ chains with the rhombic single-ion anisotropy. By employing the techniques of density-matrix renormalization group, effects of the rhombic single-ion anisotropy on various information theoretical measures are investigated, such as the fidelity susceptibility, the quantum coherence, and the entanglement entropy. Their relations with the quantum phase transitions are also analyzed. The phase transitions from the $Y$-N\'eel phase to the large-${E}_{x}$ or the Haldane phase can be well characterized by the fidelity susceptibility. The second-order derivative of the ground-state energy indicates all the transitions are of second order. We also find that the quantum coherence, the entanglement entropy, the Schmidt gap, and the inverse participation ratios can be used to detect the critical points of quantum phase transitions. Results drawn from these quantum information observables agree well with each other. Finally we provide a ground-state phase diagram as functions of the exchange anisotropy $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Delta}}$ and the rhombic single-ion anisotropy $E$.

Quantum phase transitions in a spin-1 antiferromagnetic chain with long-range interactions and modulated single-ion anisotropy

Jie Ren, Wen‐Long You, Andrzej M. Oleś

We study the phase diagram of a spin-1 antiferromagnetic chain with isotropic antiferromagnetic interactions decaying with a power law $\ensuremath{\propto}{r}^{\ensuremath{-}\ensuremath{\alpha}}$ $(\ensuremath{\alpha}\ensuremath{\ge}1)$ accompanied by modulated single-ion anisotropy. Employing the techniques of the density-matrix renormalization group, the effects of long-range interactions and single-ion anisotropy on a variety of correlations are investigated. In order to check the consistency, the fidelity susceptibilities are evaluated across quantum phase transitions. The quantum critical points are faithfully detected and orders of phase transitions are determined. The correlation-length critical exponent is extracted from scaling functions of the fidelity susceptibility. The presence of long-range interactions leads to a quantitative change of the phase boundaries and reduces the order of the phase transition under certain conditions. A direct first-order transition between the periodic N\'eel phase and the large-$D$ phase occurs for slowly decaying antiferromagnetic interactions.

Entanglement entropy and fidelity susceptibility in the one-dimensional spin-1 XXZ chains with alternating single-site anisotropy

Jie Ren, Guang-Hua Liu, Wen-Long You

We study the fidelity susceptibility in an antiferromagnetic spin-1 XXZ chain numerically. By using the density-matrix renormalization group method, the effects of the alternating single-site anisotropy D on fidelity susceptibility are investigated. Its relation with the quantum phase transition is analyzed. It is found that the quantum phase transition from the Haldane spin liquid to periodic Néel spin solid can be well characterized by the fidelity. Finite size scaling of fidelity susceptibility shows a power-law divergence at criticality, which indicates the quantum phase transition is of second order. The results are confirmed by the second derivative of the ground-state energy. We also study the relationship between the entanglement entropy, the Schmidt gap and quantum phase transitions. Conclusions drawn from these quantum information observables agree well with each other.

Ground-state fidelity of the spin-1 Heisenberg chain with single ion anisotropy: quantum renormalization group and exact diagonalization approaches

A. Langari, Frank Pollmann, Mohammad Siahatgar

We study the phase diagram of the anisotropic spin-1 Heisenberg chain with single ion anisotropy (D) using a ground-state fidelity approach. The ground-state fidelity and its corresponding susceptibility are calculated within the quantum renormalization group scheme where we obtained the renormalization of fidelity preventing calculation of the ground state. Using this approach, the phase boundaries between the antiferromagnetic Néel, Haldane and large-D phases are obtained for the whole phase diagram, which justifies the application of quantum renormalization group to trace the symmetry-protected topological phases. In addition, we present numerical exact diagonalization (Lanczos) results in which we employ a recently introduced non-local order parameter to locate the transition from Haldane to large-D phase accurately.

Quantum Phase Transition for One-Dimensional Spin-1 XXZ Model with Uniaxial Single-Ion-Type Anisotropy

Chunhuan Xiang, Honglei Wang

The quantum phase transitions for one-dimensional spin-1 XXZ model with uniaxial single-ion-type anisotropy are investigated by numerical simulation. The Gaussion transition occurred between the Larged-D phase and Neel phase, which is a gapped phase. The results of ground state energy, local order parameter and entanglement entropy agree with each other. The figures for all of the physical observable are shown in the text.

Ground-state phase diagram of S=1 XXZ chains with uniaxial single-ion-type anisotropy

Wei Chen, Kazuo Hida, B. C. Sanctuary

One-dimensional $S=1$ $\mathrm{XXZ}$ chains with uniaxial single-ion-type anisotropy are studied by numerical exact diagonalization of finite-size systems. The numerical data are analyzed using conformal field theory, the level spectroscopy, phenomenological renormalization-group, and finite-size scaling method. We thus present a quantitatively reliable ground-state phase diagram of this model. The ground states of this model contain the Haldane phase, large-D phase, N\'eel phase, two $\mathrm{XY}$ phases, and the ferromagnetic phase. There are four different types of transitions between these phases: the Brezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless-type transitions, the Gaussian-type transitions, the Ising-type transitions, and the first-order transitions. The locations of these critical lines are accurately determined.

Quantum coherence and spin nematic to nematic quantum phase transitions in biquadratic spin-1 and spin-2 XY chains with rhombic single-ion anisotropy

Rui Mao, Yan-Wei Dai, Sam Young Cho +1 more

We investigate quantum phase transitions and quantum coherence in infinite biquadratic spin-1 and -2 XY chains with rhombic single-ion anisotropy. All considered coherence measures such as the ${l}_{1}$ norm of coherence, the relative entropy of coherence, and the quantum Jensen-Shannon divergence, and the quantum mutual information show consistently that singular behaviors occur for the spin-1 system, which enables to identify quantum phase transitions. For the spin-2 system, the relative entropy of coherence and the quantum mutual information properly detect no singular behavior in the whole system parameter range, while the ${l}_{1}$ norm of coherence and the quantum Jensen-Shannon divergence show a conflicting singular behavior of their first-order derivatives. Examining local magnetic moments and spin quadrupole moments lead to the explicit identification of novel orderings of spin quadrupole moments with zero magnetic moments in the whole parameter space. We find the three uniaxial spin nematic quadrupole phases for the spin-1 system and the two biaxial spin nematic phases for the spin-2 system. For the spin-2 system, the two orthogonal biaxial spin nematic states are connected adiabatically without an explicit phase transition, which can be called quantum crossover. The quantum crossover region is estimated by using the quantum fidelity. Whereas for the spin-1 system, the two discontinuous quantum phase transitions occur between three distinct uniaxial spin nematic phases. We discuss the quantum coherence measures and the quantum mutual information in connection with the quantum phase transitions including the quantum crossover.
