Quasi-exact solvability and entropies of the one-dimensional regularised Calogero model

Abstract

Abstract The Calogero model can be regularised through the introduction of a cutoff parameter which removes the divergence in the interaction term. In this work we show that the one-dimensional two-particle regularised Calogero model is quasi-exactly solvable and that for certain values of the Hamiltonian parameters the eigenfunctions can be written in terms of Heun’s confluent polynomials. These eigenfunctions are such that the reduced density matrix of the two-particle density operator can be obtained exactly as well as its entanglement spectrum. We found that the number of non-zero eigenvalues of the reduced density matrix is finite in these cases. The limits for the cutoff distance going to zero (Calogero) and infinity are analysed and all the previously obtained results for the Calogero model are reproduced. Once the exact eigenfunctions are obtained, the exact von Neumann and Rényi entanglement entropies are studied to characterise the physical traits of the model. The quasi-exactly solvable character of the model is assessed studying the numerically calculated Rényi entropy and entanglement spectrum for the whole parameter space.

Exact finite reduced density matrix and von Neumann entropy for the Calogero model

Omar Osenda, Federico M. Pont, Anna Okopińska +1 more

The information content of continuous quantum variables systems is usually studied using a number of well known approximation methods. The approximations are made to obtain the spectrum, eigenfunctions or the reduced density matrices that are essential to calculate the entropy-like quantities that quantify the information. Even in the sparse cases where the spectrum and eigenfunctions are exactly known the entanglement spectrum, {\em i.e.} the spectrum of the reduced density matrices that characterize the problem, must be obtained in an approximate fashion. In this work, we obtain analytically a finite representation of the reduced density matrices of the fundamental state of the N-particle Calogero model for a discrete set of values of the interaction parameter. As a consequence, the exact entanglement spectrum and von Neumann entropy is worked out.

Detecting dimensional crossover and finite Hilbert space through entanglement entropies

Mariano Garagiola, Eloisa Cuestas, Federico M. Pont +2 more

The information content of the two-particle one- and two-dimensional Calogero model is studied by using the von Neumann and R\'enyi entropies. The one-dimensional model is shown to have nonmonotonic entropies with finite values in the large-interaction-strength limit. On the other hand, the von Neumann entropy of the two-dimensional model with isotropic confinement is a monotone increasing function of the interaction strength which diverges logarithmically. By considering an anisotropic confinement in the two-dimensional case we show that the one-dimensional behavior is eventually reached when the anisotropy increases. The crossover from two to one dimensions is demonstrated by using the harmonic approximation and it is shown that the von Neumann divergence only occurs in the isotropic case. The R\'enyi entropies are used to highlight the structure of the model spectrum. In particular, it is shown that these entropies have a nonmonotonic and nonanalytical behavior in the neighborhood of the interaction strength parameter values where the Hilbert space and, consequently, the spectrum of the reduced density matrix are both finite.

Entanglement entropy in the Calogero–Sutherland model

Hosho Katsura, Yasuyuki Hatsuda

We investigate the entanglement entropy between two subsets of particles in the ground state of the Calogero–Sutherland model. By using the duality relations of the Jack symmetric polynomials, we obtain exact expressions for both the reduced density matrix and the entanglement entropy in the limit of an infinite number of particles traced out. From these results, we obtain an upper-bound value of the entanglement entropy. This upper bound has a clear interpretation in terms of fractional exclusion statistics.

Off-diagonal correlations of the Calogero-Sutherland model

G. E. Astrakharchik, Dimitri M. Gangardt, Yu. E. Lozovik +1 more

We study correlation functions of the Calogero-Sutherland model in the whole range of the interaction parameter. Using the replica method we obtain analytical expressions for the long-distance asymptotics of the one-body density matrix in addition to the previously derived asymptotics of the pair-distribution function [D.M. Gangardt and A. Kamenev, Nucl. Phys. B 610, 578 (2001)]. The leading analytic and nonanalytic terms in the short-distance expansion of the one-body density matrix are discussed. Numerical results for these correlation functions are obtained using Monte Carlo techniques for all distances. The momentum distribution and static structure factor are calculated. The potential and kinetic energies are obtained using the Hellmann-Feynman theorem. Perfect agreement is found between the analytical expressions and numerical data. These results allow for the description of physical regimes of the Calogero-Sutherland model. The zero temperature phase diagram is found to be of a crossover type and includes quasicondensation, quasicrystallization and quasisupersolid regimes.

Entanglement dynamics in Rule 54: Exact results and quasiparticle picture

Katja Klobas, Bruno Bertini

We study the entanglement dynamics generated by quantum quenches in the quantum cellular automaton Rule 54. We consider the evolution from a recently introduced class of solvable initial states. States in this class relax (locally) to a one-parameter family of Gibbs states and the thermalisation dynamics of local observables can be characterised exactly by means of an evolution in space. Here we show that the latter approach also gives access to the entanglement dynamics and derive exact formulas describing the asymptotic linear growth of all Rényi entropies in the thermodynamic limit and their eventual saturation for finite subsystems. While in the case of von Neumann entropy we recover exactly the predictions of the quasiparticle picture, we find no physically meaningful quasiparticle description for other Rényi entropies. Our results apply to both homogeneous and inhomogeneous quenches.

A Quantum Many-body Problem in Two Dimensions: Ground State

Avinash Khare, Koushik Ray

We obtain the exact ground state for the Calogero-Sutherland problem in arbitrary dimensions. In the special case of two dimensions, we show that the problem is connected to the random matrix problem for complex matrices, provided the strength of the inverse-square interaction g = 2. In the thermodynamic limit, we obtain the ground state energy and the pair-correlation function and show that in this case there is no long-range order. Calogero-Sutherland type models are a class of exactly solvable models. Starting from the inception [1], till today, these models continue to be of interest, especially due to their exact solvability [2]. Moreover, these models are related to (1 + 1)-dimensional conformal field theory, random matrices and a host of other things [3]. Some variants of the models have attracted attention in very recent past [3–5]. The original model of Calogero [1] described N particles in one dimension, interacting through an inverse square law and a two-body harmonic interaction. The latter interaction was added to the effect of complete discretization of the spectrum. This model gave in to an analytic treatment yielding an exact solution. Sutherland [6] considered a variant of this problem where the harmonic interaction was replaced by a harmonic well containing the N particles. It was shown that one can exactly solve for the ground state of the system. The norm of the ground state wave-function was shown to be of a form that coincides with the joint probability density function of the eigenvalues of random matrices from an orthogonal, unitary or symplectic Gaussian ensemble, provided, the
