Abstract

We have derived a general separability criterion for a class of two mode non-Gaussian continuous variable systems, obtained earlier using PPT, violation of which provides sufficient condition for entanglement. It has been obtained by utilizing the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality and from the basic definition of separable states. This criterion coincides with the work of Agarwal and Biswas [4] which involved inequality involving higher order correlation, for testing entanglement in non-Gaussian states.

Entanglement Criteria for Non-Gaussian States

Prasoon Kumar Shandilya, Supervisor Prof. Prasanta K. Panigrahi

Entanglement for continuous variable states opens up an avenue for experimental utilization of the entanglement properties of quantum physics very easily. Non- Gaussian continuous variable state improves the efficiency and robustness of a quantum teleportation and communication. Thus, it is important to understand the entanglement properties of non-Gaussian states. For a class of non-Gaussian continuous variable states, we derive a general criterion for SU(2) operators which incidentally coincides with the work of Agarwal and Biswas and another entanglement criteria for SU(1,1) operators for a two-mode non-Gaussian state using uncertainty relation and Cauchy-Schwarz inequality.

Inseparability inequalities for higher-order moments for bipartite systems

G. S. Agarwal, Biswas, A

There are several examples of bipartite entangled states of continuous variables for which the existing criteria for entanglement using the inequalities involving the second order moments are insufficient. We derive new inequalities involving higher order correlation, for testing entanglement in non-Gaussian states. In this context we study an example of a non-Gaussian state, which is a bipartite entangled state of the form $\\psi(x_{\\rm a},x_{\\rm b})\\propto (\\alpha x_{\\rm a}+\\beta x_{\\rm b})e^{-(x_{\\rm a}^2+x_{\\rm b}^2)/2}$. Our results open up an avenue to search for new inequalities to test entanglement in non-Gaussian states.

Detection of non-Gaussian entangled states with an improved continuous-variable separability criterion

Anaelle Hertz, Evgueni Karpov, Aikaterini Mandilara +1 more

Currently available separability criteria for continuous-variable states are generally based on the covariance matrix of quadrature operators. The well-known separability criterion of Duan et al. [L. M. Duan et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 84, 2722 (2000)] and Simon [R. Simon, Phys. Rev. Lett. 84, 2726 (2000)], for example, gives a necessary and sufficient condition for a two-mode Gaussian state to be separable, but leaves many entangled non-Gaussian states undetected. Here we introduce an improvement of this criterion that enables a stronger entanglement detection. The improved condition is based on the knowledge of an additional parameter, namely, the degree of Gaussianity, and exploits a connection with Gaussianity-bounded uncertainty relations [A. Mandilara and N. J. Cerf, Phys. Rev. A 86, 030102 (2012)]. We exhibit families of non-Gaussian entangled states whose entanglement remains undetected by the Duan-Simon criterion.

When non-Gaussian states are Gaussian: Generalization of nonseparability criterion for continuous variables

Derek McHugh, Vladimír Bužek, Mário Ziman

We present a class of non-Gaussian two-mode continuous-variable states for which the separability criterion for Gaussian states can be employed to detect whether they are separable or not. These states reduce to the two-mode Gaussian states as a special case.

Tripartite separability conditions exponentially violated by Gaussian states

Evgeny V Shchukin, Peter van Loock

Starting with a set of conditions for bipartite separability of arbitrary quantum states in any dimension and expressed in terms of arbitrary operators whose commutator is a $c$-number, we derive a hierarchy of conditions for tripartite separability of continuous-variable three-mode quantum states. These conditions have the form of inequalities for higher-order moments of linear combinations of the mode operators. They enable one to distinguish between all possible kinds of tripartite separability, while the strongest violation of these inequalities is a sufficient condition for genuine tripartite entanglement. We construct Gaussian states for which the violation of our conditions grows exponentially with the order of the moments of the mode operators. By going beyond second moments, our conditions are expected to be useful as well for the detection of tripartite entanglement of non-Gaussian states. We also demonstrate that our conditions can be easily implemented experimentally.
