Fast and efficient wireless power transfer via transitionless quantum driving

Abstract

Shortcut to adiabaticity (STA) techniques have the potential to drive a system beyond the adiabatic limits. Here, we present a robust and efficient method for wireless power transfer (WPT) between two coils based on the so-called transitionless quantum driving (TQD) algorithm. We show that it is possible to transfer power between the coils significantly fast compared to its adiabatic counterpart. The scheme is fairly robust against the variations in the coupling strength and the coupling distance between the coils. Also, the scheme is found to be reasonably immune to intrinsic losses in the coils.

High-fidelity entangled Bell states via shortcuts to adiabaticity

Koushik Paul, Amarendra K. Sarma

We present a couple of protocols based on shortcut to adiabaticity techniques for rapid generation of robust entangled Bell states in a pair of two-state systems. Our protocol relies on the so-called transitionless quantum driving (TQD) algorithm and Lewis-Riesenfeld invariant (LRI) method. Both TQD and LRI methods result in high fidelity in population transfer. Our study shows that it is possible to prepare an entangled state in extremely short time without losing robustness and efficiency.

Shortcut to adiabatic passage in a waveguide coupler with a complex-hyperbolic-secant scheme

Koushik Paul, Amarendra K. Sarma

We propose a directional coupler exploiting the framework of adiabatic passage for two-level atomic systems with a configuration-dependent complex-hyperbolic-secant scheme. A recently developed Shortcut to Adiabatic passage method (STA), which uses a transitionless quantum driving algorithm, is applied to the coupler. The study shows that it is possible to reduce the device length significantly using STA, keeping the efficiency of power transfer at 100%. This shortcut approach shows much superiority in terms of robustness and fidelity in power switching compared to the adiabatic approach.

Wireless adiabatic power transfer

Andon A. Rangelov, Haim Suchowski, Yaron R. Silberberg +1 more

We propose a technique for efficient mid-range wireless power transfer between two coils, by adapting the process of adiabatic passage for a coherently driven two-state quantum system to the realm of wireless energy transfer. The proposed technique is shown to be robust to noise, resonant constraints, and other interferences that exist in the neighborhood of the coils.

Fast and Robust Quantum State Transfer via Optimal Transitionless Quantum Driving

Chun‐Ling Zhang, Xiu‐Min Lin

Abstract For the past few years, shortcuts to adiabaticity have attracted great attention since they can avoid the necessity of slow driving for adiabatic method while inheriting the partial robustness of the adiabatic dynamics. In this paper, a universal approach to implement quantum state transfer in a three‐state system via optimal transitionless quantum driving is presented. The fast path is optimized for great robustness against uncontrolled systematic error by selecting appropriate experimental parameters. The robustness of the protocol is discussed via numerical simulations. Compared with conventional transitionless quantum driving and adiabatic passage, the protocol via optimized transitionless quantum driving possesses more robustness against the systematic error. Furthermore, decoherence arising from atomic spontaneous emission and dephasing only has a slight impact on the fidelity of quantum state transfer. This work opens up a new avenue for high‐fidelity quantum state transfer in the case of the uncontrolled errors.

Non-equilibrium thermodynamics of quantum processes assisted by transitionless quantum driving: the role of initial state preparation

Qiongyuan Wu, Giovanni Barontini, Mauro Paternostro

Adiabatic evolution is considered to be the ideal situation for most thermodynamic cycles, as it allows for the achievement of maximum efficiency. However, no power output is produced in light of the infinite amount of time required to perform a transformation. Such issue can be overcome through Shortcuts-To-Adiabaticity (STA) protocols, which allows a dynamics to mimic its adiabatic counterpart, but in a finite time. Transitionless quantum driving (TQD) is one form of STA. We develop and study the effects of TQD on a single-qubit system subjected to a changing magnetic field and a general two-qubit Heisenberg model with a time-dependent interaction strength. We establish a quantitative relation between the work produced across the dynamics and the entropy production resulting from the evolution at hand, focusing on the role played by the initial states of the work medium. We identify the states that extremize performance under the TQD protocol. The thermodynamic implications of STA are discussed in the end.

Long-distance adiabatic wireless energy transfer via multiple coils coupling

Wei Huang, Xiaowei Qu, Shan Yin +4 more

Recently, the evolution of wireless energy transfer can be described as Schrodinger equation. Thus, the transfer protocol of wireless energy transfer can be designed by coherent quantum control techniques, which can achieve efficient and robust energy transfer from transmitter to receiver. In this paper, we propose a novel design of wireless energy transfer which obtains the longer distance, efficient and robust schematic of power transfer, via multiple states of triangle crossing pattern. After our calculations, we demonstrate that our design can provide much longer transfer distance with relatively smaller decreasing transfer efficiency.
