Abstract

In this paper, we examine the modification of specific nonclassical properties of the nonlinear coherent state on sphere upon perpendicular propagation through an absorptive and dispersive dielectric slab at finite temperature. For this purpose, by describing the dielectric dispersion of the slab by Lorentz model, the quadrature squeezing and the Mandel parameter are evaluated for the transmitted state. A generalization of single-mode nonlinear coherent state to the continuum-mode is considered. The degree of second-order coherence is instead calculated for a continuum nonlinear coherent state on sphere, and the quantum noise effects produced by transmission through the slab on the antibunching feature are examined. We find that near the medium resonance the detrimental effect of the loss and thermal fluctuations of the slab are not compensate with increasing the physical space curvature of the incident state.

The thermal effects of dielectric media on non-classical properties of nonlinear coherent state on a sphere

Ehsan Amooghorban, Ali Mahdifar, roghayeh asadi

In this paper, the thermal effects of the dispersive and absorbing dielectric slab on non-classical properties of the incident states are investigated. Accordingly, we consider the incident rightward and leftward states on the dielectric slab as a nonlinear coherent state on a sphere and the quantum vacuum state, respectively. Then, by modeling the electric permittivity function of the dielectric slab with the Lorentz model, the quadrature squeezing and the Mandel parameter are calculated.

Propagation of nonclassical light through an absorbing and dispersive slab

M. Artoni, R. Loudon

We calculate the effects of perpendicular propagation through a dispersive and absorbing dielectric slab at arbitrary temperatures on specific nonclassical properties of an incident light field. The transmitted signal is assumed to be measured by a detector that receives radiation only from the direction normal to the slab surfaces. Squeezing and nonclassical counting statistics of the transmitted light are evaluated for continuous-wave squeezed states incident on both sides of the slab. The degree of second-order coherence is instead evaluated for an N-photon incident pulse, and the effects of transmission through the slab on its antibunching are calculated.

Effect of dielectric medium on the nonclassical properties of nonlinear sphere coherent states

Ehsan Amooghorban, Ali Mahdifar

In order to investigate the effect of a medium with dissipation and dispersion and also the curvature of the physical space on the properties of the incident quantum states, we use the quantization of electromagnetic field based on phenomenological approach to obtain input-output relations between radiations on both sides of dielectric slab. By using these relations the fidelity, the Wigner function, and also the quantum correlation of the outgoing state through dielectric slab are obtained for a situation in which the rightward incident state is a nonlinear coherent state on a sphere and the leftward incident state is a vacuum state. Here, the incident states are considered monochromatic and the modeling of the medium is given by the Lorentz' model. Accordingly, we study nonclassical properties of the output states such as the quantum entanglement. It will be observed that the nonclassical properties of the outgoing states depend strongly on the optical property of the medium and also on the curvature of the physical state.

Thermal nonlinear coherent states on a flat space and on a sphere

H. Bagheri, Ali Mahdifar

In this paper, we first define thermal nonlinear coherent states on a sphere and show that these states are essentially two-mode squeezed nonlinear coherent states of the sphere at zero temperature. Then we consider quantum statistical properties of the thermal sphere nonlinear coherent states. In particular, we investigate temperature effects on transition of the constructed states from nonclassical states to classical ones. By using the Mandel parameter, we obtain a transition temperature and show that this transition temperature increases by increasing the curvature of the physical space. It turns out that, increasing curvature of the space provides nonlinear coherent states with nonclassical properties in higher temperature ranges.

Scattering of Squeezed Light by a Dielectric Slab

Ghafoor Pooseh

We develop a quantum theory for the scattering of squeezed coherent light by a dissipative dielectric slab. Using the Green-function quantization approach, we derive the transformation of the field quadratures and show how dispersion, absorption, and multiple reflections distort the incident squeezing. We find that the slab can selectively attenuate or amplify quadrature noise depending on the slab parameters and provide expressions for the output power spectra.

Quantum theory of optical pulse propagation through an absorbing and dispersive slab

M. Artoni, R. Loudon

We apply a recently developed scheme for electromagnetic field quantization in dispersive and absorbing dielectrics to calculate the effects of perpendicular propagation through a finite-temperature dielectric slab on the properties of an incident pulse of light. The theory applies to incident pulses of nonclassical light and also reproduces the results for classical pulses in the appropriate limit. The transmitted pulse is assumed to be measured by a detector that receives radiation only from the direction normal to the slab surfaces. The Poynting vector of the transmitted light includes contributions from the incident pulse, whose shift in peak position and additional broadening or narrowing are determined, and from the thermal emission of the slab, which tends to a black-body form in the appropriate limits.
