Abstract

The aim of this work is to examine the exponential rates at which entanglement distillation occur in three-qubits systems. The approach we will follow to elucidate the entanglement concentration is based on the Schur-Weyl decomposition and the Keyl-Werner theorem. In order to clearly state the main results of this work we will have to introduce the notion of SLOCC equivalence and the covariant algebra which will allow us to classify states in different \emph{entanglement classes}. Our main results comprehend the asymptotic rates for the probability of being in an invariant subspace in the Wedderburn decomposition of the state with effective Kronecker coefficient $g_{αβγ}=1$. We will also present a combinatorial formula for the effective Kronecker coefficient for two-row Young diagrams. With this work we hope to shed some light in the way a multipartite system is entangled and at which rate can we convey entanglement for further applications.

Distillation of entanglement by projection on permutationally invariant subspaces

Mikołaj Czechlewski, Andrzej Grudka, Michał Horodecki +2 more

We consider distillation of entanglement from two-qubit states which are mixtures of two pure entangled states and one pure product state, which is orthogonal to them. We distill entanglement from such states by projecting n copies of the state on a permutationally invariant subspace and then applying one-way hashing protocol. We find analytical expressions for the rate of the protocol and show that for wide range of parameters, this protocol achieves higher rates than previous ones. We also generalize this method to higher-dimensional systems. To get analytical expression for two-qubit case, we faced a mathematical problem of diagonalizing a family of matrices enjoying some symmetries w.r.t. the symmetric group. We have solved this problem in two ways: (i) directly by the use of Schur–Weyl decomposition and Young symmetrizers and (ii) showing that the problem is equivalent to a problem of diagonalizing adjacency matrices in a particular instance of a so-called algebraic association scheme.

Entanglement of Three-Qubit Random Pure States

Marco Enríquez, Francisco Delgado, Karol Życzkowski

We study entanglement properties of generic three-qubit pure states. First, we obtain the distributions of both the coefficients and the only phase in the five-term decomposition of Acín et al. for an ensemble of random pure states generated by the Haar measure on U ( 8 ) . Furthermore, we analyze the probability distributions of two sets of polynomial invariants. One of these sets allows us to classify three-qubit pure states into four classes. Entanglement in each class is characterized using the minimal Rényi-Ingarden-Urbanik entropy. Besides, the fidelity of a three-qubit random state with the closest state in each entanglement class is investigated. We also present a characterization of these classes in terms of the corresponding entanglement polytope. The entanglement classes related to stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) are analyzed as well from this geometric perspective. The numerical findings suggest some conjectures relating some of those invariants with entanglement properties to be ground in future analytical work.

Quantification of Entanglement in Three-Qubit Systems

Zikra Aram

This study presents an analytical investigation of entanglement quantification in three-qubit pure states through the Acín canonical representation, which serves as a generalization of the two-qubit Schmidt decomposition. Driven by the intricacies of multipartite entanglement and the shortcomings of current measures, we employ a global concurrence measure derived from the generalized concurrence of various bipartitions within the system. The characteristics of this measure are explored both analytically and numerically across a range of SLOCC entanglement classes, such as product, biseparable, GHZ-type, and W-type states. When compared to the three-tangle and tripartite negativity, our findings indicate that this measure yields complementary insights into multipartite correlations. The outcomes underscore the significance of this measure in elucidating the structure and distribution of entanglement within three-qubit quantum systems.

Local unitary equivalence of the SLOCC class of three qubits

Dafa Li, Yu Jing Guo

Abstract Classification of multipartite pure states via the local unitary (LU) equivalence or the stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) equivalence is a fundamental task in investigating multipartite entanglement. It is shown in the seminal paper (2000 Phys . Rev . A 62 062314) that pure states of three qubits can be partitioned into six SLOCC classes. We explore here a necessary and sufficient condition for LU equivalence of pure states for any SLOCC class via Acín et al ’s Schmidt coefficients (ASC) of three qubits in (2000 Phys. Rev. Lett. 85 1560). We show that the LU equivalent states in W SLOCC class have the same ASC irrespective of phases while there are generally two different ASCs for the LU equivalent states in GHZ SLOCC class (irrespective of phases for some subclass). Consequently, we obtain a complete LU classification of three qubit pure states in the sense of ASC. Moreover, we discuss the choice among the different ASCs and then propose an approach to find a unique ASC for any given three qubit pure state. At last we analyse the entanglement/separability of the marginal states of the two inequivalent genuine entangled SLOCC classes. We find that any bipartite marginal states of the W SLOCC class are entangled, and that of the GHZ SLOCC class has eight different cases which are depend on the ASCs.

On PPT entanglement distillation

Ludovico Lami

We study entanglement distillation under operations that remain completely positive under partial-transpose conjugation, a.k.a. PPT channels, in the standard quantum Shannon theory regime of asymptotically vanishing but non-zero error. Our main results are: (a) a regularised formula for the PPT distillable entanglement in terms of a measured-relative-entropy-like quantity; and (b) two different single-letter converses, one based on operator quadratic forms and the other on Hirschman's strengthening of the Hadamard three-line theorem. As an immediate application of (b), we show that the PPT distillable entanglement can be strictly smaller than the regularised Rains bound, thereby resolving an open problem in the theory of entanglement manipulation [Regula et al., NJP 21:103017, 2019]. A gap appears already for $3\times 3$ Werner states: at antisymmetric weight $25/26$, a certified upper bound of $0.62107$ ebits lies below the (regularised) Rains bound, which equals $\frac{25}{26} \log_2 5 - \log_2 3 \approx 0.64766$ ebits. On a different note, (a) implies a faithful lower bound on the PPT distillable entanglement in terms of the entanglement negativity, which provides a quantitative counterpart to the qualitatively known fact that any NPT state is PPT distillable [Eggeling et al., PRL 87:257902, 2001].

Graphical Classification of Entangled Qutrits

Kentaro Honda

A multipartite quantum state is entangled if it is not separable. Quantum entanglement plays a fundamental role in many applications of quantum information theory, such as quantum teleportation. Stochastic local quantum operations and classical communication (SLOCC) cannot essentially change quantum entanglement without destroying it. Therefore, entanglement can be classified by dividing quantum states into equivalence classes, where two states are equivalent if each can be converted into the other by SLOCC. Properties of this classification, especially in the case of non two-dimensional quantum systems, have not been well studied. Graphical representation is sometimes used to clarify the nature and structural features of entangled states. SLOCC equivalence of quantum bits (qubits) has been described graphically via a connection between tripartite entangled qubit states and commutative Frobenius algebras (CFAs) in monoidal categories. In this paper, we extend this method to qutrits, i.e., systems that have three basis states. We examine the correspondence between CFAs and tripartite entangled qutrits. Using the symmetry property, which is required by the definition of a CFA, we find that there are only three equivalence classes that correspond to CFAs. We represent qutrits graphically, using the connection to CFAs. We derive equations that characterize the three equivalence classes. Moreover, we show that any qutrit can be represented as a composite of three graphs that correspond to the three classes.
