Abstract

Abstract We propose an efficient method to protect spin squeezing under the action of amplitude-damping, depolarizing and phase-damping channels based on measurement reversal from weak measurement, and consider an ensemble of N independent spin-1/2 particles with exchange symmetry. We show that spin squeezing can be enhanced greatly under three different decoherence channels and spin-squeezing sudden death can be avoided undergoing amplitude-damping and phase-damping channels. Moreover, we find that the spin-squeezing parameters can be completely recovered to its initial value under amplitude-damping channel by changing weak measurement strength irrespective of sufficiently strong decoherence. For the phase-damping channel, the spin-squeezing parameter can be recovered to a certain stationary value in certain conditions. Our results provide an active way to suppress decoherence and enhance the spin squeezing under decoherence, which is rather significant for quantum metrology in open systems.

Protecting the entanglement of two-qubit over quantum channels with memory via weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal*

Meijiao Wang, Yun- Jie Xia, Yang Yang +4 more

Based on the quantum technique of the weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal (WMR), we propose a scheme to protect entanglement for an entangled two-qubit pure state from four typical quantum noise channels with memory, i.e., the amplitude damping channel, the phase damping channel, the bit flip channel, and the depolarizing channel. For a given initial state | ψ 〉 = a| 00 〉 + d| 11 〉, it is found that the WMR operation indeed helps to protect entanglement from the above four quantum channels with memory, and the protection effect of WMR scheme is better when the coefficient a is small. For the other initial state | ϕ 〉 = b| 01 〉 + c| 10 〉, the effect of the protection scheme is the same regardless of the coefficient b and the WMR operation can protect entanglement in the amplitude damping channel with memory. Moreover, the protection of entanglement in quantum noise channels without memory in contrast to the results of the channels with memory is more effective. For | ψ 〉 or | ϕ 〉, we also find that the memory parameters play a significant role in the suppression of entanglement sudden death and the initial entanglement can be drastically amplified. Another more important result is that the relationship between the concurrence, the memory parameter, the weak measurement strength, and quantum measurement reversal strength is found through calculation and discussion. It provides a strong basis for the system to maintain maximum entanglement in the nosie channel.

Protecting quantum coherence and discord from decoherence of depolarizing noise via weak measurement and measurement reversal

Abdul Basit, Fazal Badshah, Hamad Ali +1 more

Protection of the quantum coherence and discord in realistic quantum systems interacting with the environment of depolarizing noise is an important subject in quantum information processing. Weak measurement and measurement reversal can effectively suppress the amplitude damping-class decoherence. In this paper, we examine the effect of this protocol in the protection of quantum coherence and discord subjected to depolarizing noise environments. Our scheme consists of a prior weak measurement on each qubit before interacting with noisy channels followed by post measurement reversal. It is found that quantum coherence and discord can be enhanced to an optimal value by performing weak measurements and adjusting measurement parameters on each qubit. In addition, the maximal value of the quantum coherence and discord is found to be independent of the initial-state parameters.

Preserving entanglement and the fidelity of three-qubit quantum states undergoing decoherence using weak measurement

Xiang-Ping Liao, Mao-Fa Fang, Jianshu Fang +1 more

We demonstrate a method to preserve entanglement and improve fidelity of three-qubit quantum states undergoing amplitude-damping decoherence using weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal. It is shown that we are able to enhance entanglement to the greatest extent, and to circumvent entanglement sudden death by increasing the weak measurement strength both for the GHZ state and the W state. The weak measurement technique can also enhance the fidelity to the quantum region and even close to 1 for the whole range of the decoherence parameter in both of the two cases. In addition, the W state can maintain more fidelity than the GHZ state in the protection protocol. However, the GHZ state has a higher success probability than the W state.

Protecting free-entangled and bound-entangled states in a two-qutrit system under decoherence using weak measurements

Xiang-Ping Liao, Mao-Fa Fang, Rong Man-sheng +1 more

We demonstrate a method to protect free-entangled and bound-entangled states in a two-qutrit system under amplitude damping and the generalized amplitude damping channels based on measurement reversal from weak measurement. We find that this scheme can circumvent the distillability sudden death by changing weak measurement strength and the free-entangled and bound-entangled states can be robust against decoherence in amplitude damping case. Moreover, the negativity and realignment negativity almost tend to a constant respectively in spite of sufficiently strong decoherence when weak measurement strength is strong. We also show that under the generalized amplitude damping, the life of free-entangled and bound-entangled states can be prolonged using weak measurements in certain conditions.

Protecting qubit–qutrit entanglement from amplitude damping decoherence via weak measurement and reversal

Xing Mao Xiao

We investigate the entanglement protection of a hybrid qubit–qutrit system under amplitude damping decoherence by employing weak measurement and reversal. We examine two typical families of initially entangled qubit–qutrit states (i.e. one-parameter and two-parameter qubit–qutrit states). We find that the qubit–qutrit entanglement decays monotonically as the decoherence strength increases, and may go through a sudden death for some initial states. However, we can completely defeat amplitude damping decoherence and recover the initial entanglement perfectly for any initial states by means of the combination of prior weak measurement and subsequent optimal weak measurement reversal. The only price that we have to pay is the very low success probability.

Protecting entanglement from decoherence using weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal

Yong‐Su Kim, Jong Chan Lee, Osung Kwon +1 more

Decoherence, which causes degradation of entanglement and in some cases entanglement sudden death, is a critical issue faced in quantum information. Protecting entanglement from decoherence, therefore, is essential in practical realization of quantum computing and quantum communication protocols. In this paper, we demonstrate a novel method to protect entanglement from amplitude damping decoherence via weak measurement and quantum measurement reversal. It is shown that even entanglement sudden death can be circumvented.
