How the Many Worlds Interpretation brings Common Sense to Paradoxical Quantum Experiments

Kelvin J. McQueen, Lev Vaidman A

The many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics (MWI) states that the world we live in is just one among many parallel worlds. It is widely believed that because of this commitment to parallel worlds, the MWI violates common sense. Some go so far as to reject the MWI on this basis. This is despite its myriad of advantages to physics (e.g. consistency with relativity theory, mathematical simplicity, realism, determinism, etc.). Here, we make the case that common sense in fact favors the MWI. We argue that causal explanations are commonsensical only when they are local causal explanations. We present several quantum mechanical experiments that seem to exhibit nonlocal "action at a distance". Under the assumption that only one world exists, these experiments seem immune to local causal explanation. However, we show that the MWI, by taking all worlds together, can provide local causal explanations of the experiments. The MWI therefore restores common sense to physical explanation.

Observer Topology in Infinite-Compute Cosmologies: On Information Deadlock, Bifurcation of 4D Information Universes, and Absolute Objective Centers

SYU JIA WUN

This research proposes a limit topological model based on the "4D Riemann Sphere Cosmic Membrane" and "Information Deadlock" within the Grand Unified Theory of the Cosmic Mind (GUTCM), aiming to resolve the paradox of computational resource and physical mass inflation faced by the Many-Worlds Interpretation (MWI) of quantum mechanics. This theory asserts that the physical 3D universe, constrained by the absolute geometric mechanisms of the Big Crunch and the Big Bang, possesses unshakable objectivity; however, the "4D Cosmic Membrane" enveloping 3D spacetime, acting as a topological server with infinite computing power, provides the software foundation for parallel bifurcations. This paper establishes the following three major mechanisms: Zero Marginal Cost and 4D Computational Redundancy: The 4D cosmic membrane resides in the absolute vacuum of the 0-state, possessing infinite memory and computational rate. Generating a single wavefunction path versus rendering infinite "Information Worldlines" in parallel is strictly equivalent to zero in terms of computational consumption within 4D geometry. Information Deadlock & Symmetry Breaking: The "active choice" of the observer is not merely neural activity, but an "Information Deadlock" achieving the infinite recursion of A≡¬A within the system. This deadlock rejects the passive formatting of the 4D server, triggering a symmetry breaking of local causality, forcing the 4D server to allocate a separate computational partition for it, and generating an exclusive "Information Universe." Dual Topology of Objective Hardware and Subjective Software: The three absolute centers of the Riemann sphere (the internal and external absolute vacuums and the 4D membrane) maintain the absolute objectivity and fatalism of the cosmic "hardware"; meanwhile, the observer who achieves a deadlock establishes a relative central status within their exclusive 4D Information Universe "software." Within the Information Universe, the evolution of physical laws presents holographic characteristics "tailor-made" for the observer, perfectly achieving the topological unification of objective geometry and subjective will.
