Abstract

In this paper, we use the displacement operator together with parity operation to construct the superposition of two coherent states. By transmitting this superposition from 50-50 beam splitter the two-mode qubit like ECS is generated. Moreover, we introduce a controllable method for producing qutrit like ECS using atom-field interaction in cavity QED and beam splitter. We will show that the distances of peaks of Wigner functions for reduced density matrices of two-mode ECS's are entanglement sensitive and can be a witness for entanglement. To confirm the results we use concurrence measure to compare bipartite entanglement of ECS's with the behavior of peaks of Wigner functions. Moreover, we investigate decoherence effects on Wigner function, arising from transmitting ECS's through noisy channels.

Wigner distribution function and entanglement of generalized quantum optical vortex

Abir Bandyopadhyay, Shashi Prabhakar, Ravi Prakash Singh

We calculate the Wigner (quasi)probability distribution function of the quantum optical elliptical vortex (QEV), generated by coupling squeezed vacuum states of two modes. The coupling between the two modes is performed by using beam splitter (BS) or a dual channel directional coupler (DCDC). The quantum interference due to the coupling between the two modes promises the generation of controlled entanglement for quantum computation and quantum tomography. We compute the entanglement of such QEV formed by non-classical radiation field, using Wigner function. We report a critical squeezing parameter above which the entanglement is less for higher vorticity, which is counter intuitive.

Generation of entangled coherent states in cavity QED and its nonclassicality

Chenchao Hua, Shi-Qing Tang

Cavity quantum electrodynamics is the intersection of quantum physics and microcavity optics research. In this paper, we presented a two-mode cavity coupled to a classical field driven by N three-level atoms to prepare entangled coherent states based on cavity QED. In this scheme, we adopt the interaction between the three-level atoms and the two-mode optical cavity, The initial state of one optical field is an odd-even coherent state, while the initial state of another optical field is a coherent state. After considering the time evolution of the initial states with the system, we obtained the specific form of the time evolution of the quantum states and prepared the entangled coherent state successfully. We discussed and analysed some of the nonclassical properties of the optical field and quantum states, including the second-order correlation function and the Wigner function. The results show that when calculating the second-order correlation function, the photons are found to exhibit a sub-Poisson distribution at some points in time. In addition, when observing the Wigner function of the quantum states evolving with time, it is found that there is a negative part of the Wigner distribution at some moments, which implies that the quantum state exhibits nonclassical properties at these certain moments.

Decoherence Effect and Beam Splitters for Production of Quasi-Amplified Entangled Quantum Optical Light

Saad Rfifi

Abstract We let a set of beam splitters of vacuum mode with a chosen transmittance parameter η in interaction with a separable coherent states. This model induces the production of an attenuated quantum channels based on entangled optical states. Indeed, the decoherence effect is exploited positively here to generate such kind of quantum channels. Next, the amplitude damping and the entanglement amount of these produced channels are enhanced thereafter by a probabilistic quasi amplification process using again a 50:50 beam splitter .

Generating two-modes entangled coherent states using beam splitter

Sevda Mirzaei, G. Najarbashi

Coherent state (also called Glauber state) refer to a special kind of pure quantum-mechanical state of the light field corresponding to a single resonator mode which describe closest quantum state to a classical sinusoidal wave such as a continuous laser wave. In this paper we manipulate entangled two mode coherent states using beam splitter (BS) and Kerr medium and then evaluate the amount of entanglement by concurrence measure. We show that it is possible to construct maximal entangled state by transmitting a laser beam from a BS and Kerr medium.

Entanglement concentration for W-type entangled coherent states

Yu‐Bo Sheng, Jiong Liu, Sheng-Yang Zhao +2 more

An entangled coherent state (ECS) is one type of entanglement, which is widely discussed in the application of quantum information processing (QIP). In this paper, we propose an entanglement concentration protocol (ECP) to distill the maximally entangled W-type ECS from the partially entangled W-type ECS. In the ECP, we adopt the balanced beam splitter (BS) to make the parity check measurement. Our ECP is quite different from the conventional ECPs. After performing the ECP, not only can we obtain the maximally entangled ECS with some success probability, but also we can increase the amplitude of the coherent state. Therefore, it is especially useful in long-distance quantum communication, if the photon loss is considered.

Entanglement and classical nonseparability convertible from orthogonal polarizations

Minghui Li, Wei Wang, Zikang Tang +1 more

The nonclassicality of a macroscopic single-mode optical superposition state is potentially convertible into entanglement, when the state is mixed with the vacuum on a beam splitter. Considering light beams with polarization degree of freedom in Euclidean space as coherent product states in a bipartite Hilbert space, we propose a method to convert the two orthogonal polarizations into simultaneous entanglement and classical nonseparability through nonclassicality in the superpositions of coherent and displaced Fock states. Equivalent Bell state emerges from the resulted superpositions and the proportion of mixed entanglement and nonseparablity is determined by the displacement amplitudes along the polarization directions. We characterize the state nonclassicality via features in Wigner distributions and propose an experimental method for generating these states and measuring them via homodyne tomography.
