Higher-order analogues of the unitarity condition for quantum R-matrices

Abstract

We derive a family of nth-order identities for quantum R-matrices of the Baxter–Belavin type in the fundamental representation. The set of identities includes the unitarity condition as the simplest case (n = 2). Our study is inspired by the fact that the third-order identity provides commutativity of the Knizhnik–Zamolodchikov–Bernard connections. On the other hand, the same identity yields the R-matrix-valued Lax pairs for classical integrable systems of Calogero type, whose construction uses the interpretation of the quantum R-matrix as a matrix generalization of the Kronecker function. We present a proof of the higher-order scalar identities for the Kronecker functions, which is then naturally generalized to R-matrix identities.

Matrix representations of ${\rm BC}_n$ associative Yang--Baxter equations and related long-range spin chains

M. Matushko, A. Mostovskii, A. Zotov

We construct a matrix representation of the algebra defined by the associative Yang--Baxter equations of ${\rm BC}_n$ type. In the elliptic case, two sets of generators are represented in terms of the Baxter--Belavin quantum $R$-matrix in the fundamental representation of ${\rm GL}_N$, while the remaining generators are represented by the elliptic $K$-matrix found by Komori and Hikami. We revisit its derivation using the Felder--Pasquier procedure and correct the unitarity relation for odd $N$. We then use these matrix representations to construct examples of long-range quantum spin chains from $R$-matrix-valued Lax pairs for the classical Calogero--Inozemtsev system associated with the ${\rm BC}_n$ root system. We also construct $R$-matrix-valued Lax pairs for Calogero--Moser models in an external field, leading to Haldane--Shastry and Polychronakos--Frahm chains with modified spin positions.

R-matrix-valued Lax pairs and long-range spin chains

Ivan Andreevich Sechin, Andrei Vladimirovich Zotov

In this paper we discuss R-matrix-valued Lax pairs for slN Calogero–Moser model and their relation to integrable quantum long-range spin chains of the Haldane–Shastry–Inozemtsev type. First, we construct the R-matrix-valued Lax pairs for the third flow of the classical Calogero–Moser model. Then we notice that the scalar parts (in the auxiliary space) of the M-matrices corresponding to the second and third flows have form of special spin exchange operators. The freezing trick restricts them to quantum Hamiltonians of long-range spin chains. We show that for a special choice of the R-matrix these Hamiltonians reproduce those for the Inozemtsev chain. In the general case related to the Baxter's elliptic R-matrix we obtain a natural anisotropic extension of the Inozemtsev chain. Commutativity of the Hamiltonians is verified numerically. Trigonometric limits lead to the Haldane–Shastry chains and their anisotropic generalizations.

Classical Integrable Spin Chains of Landau–Lifshitz Type from R-Matrix Identities

D. Domanevsky, Andrei Vladimirovich Zotov

We describe a family of 1+1 classical integrable space-discrete models of the Landau–Lifshitz type through the usage of ansatz for U–V (Lax) pair with spectral parameter satisfying the semi-discrete Zakharov–Shabat equation. The ansatz for U–V pair is based on $$R$$ -matrices satisfying the associative Yang–Baxter equation and certain additional properties. Equations of motion are obtained using a set of $$R$$ -matrix identities. In the continuous limit we reproduce the previously known family of the higher rank Landau–Lifshitz equations.

Boundary transfer matrices and boundary quantum KZ equations

Bart Vlaar

A simple relation between inhomogeneous transfer matrices and boundary quantum Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov (KZ) equations is exhibited for quantum integrable systems with reflecting boundary conditions, analogous to an observation by Gaudin for periodic systems. Thus, the boundary quantum KZ equations receive a new motivation. We also derive the commutativity of Sklyanin’s boundary transfer matrices by merely imposing appropriate reflection equations, in particular without using the conditions of crossing symmetry and unitarity of the R-matrix.

Kronecker-Pauli Operators

Christian Rakotonirina

In quantum mechanics, classical matrix bases such as the Pauli matrices are often generalized to higher dimensions. So, it is useful to express their corresponding operators using the Dirac Bra and Ket. In this paper, to express the corresponding operators we review the Kronecker-Pauli matrices and how to construct them for an N-dimensional system, with N a prime integer, N>2. Then, we give the expression of the Kronecker-Pauli operators and show that their matrices with respect to the standard basis fulfill the conditions to form a set of Kronecker-Pauli matrices.

On the Yang–Baxter equation for the six-vertex model

Vladimir V. Mangazeev

In this paper we review the theory of the Yang–Baxter equation related to the 6-vertex model and its higher spin generalizations. We employ a 3D approach to the problem. Starting with the 3D R-matrix, we consider a two-layer projection of the corresponding 3D lattice model. As a result, we obtain a new expression for the higher spin R-matrix associated with the affine quantum algebra Uq(sl(2)ˆ). In the simplest case of the spin s=1/2 this R-matrix naturally reduces to the R-matrix of the 6-vertex model. Taking a special limit in our construction we also obtain new formulas for the Q-operators acting in the representation space of arbitrary (half-)integer spin. Remarkably, this construction can be naturally extended to any complex values of spin s. We also give all functional equations satisfied by the transfer-matrices and Q-operators.

Matrix representations of BCn{\rm BC}_nBCn associative Yang--Baxter equations and related long-range spin chains
We construct a matrix representation of the algebra defined by the associative Yang--Baxter equations of BCn{\rm BC}_nBCn type.
