Quantum soliton-trains of strongly correlated impurities in Bose-Einstein condensates

Hoshu Hiyane, Thomas Busch, Thomás Fogarty

Strongly correlated impurities immersed in a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) can form a periodic structure of tightly localized single atoms due to competing inter and intraspecies interactions, leading to a self-organized pinned state. In this work, we show numerically that the impurities in the self-pinned state form a soliton-train, as a consequence of a BEC-mediated attractive self-interaction and ordering due to the exclusion principle. The dynamics of the impurities possess the characteristics of bright matter-wave soliton trains as often seen in classical fields; however, in the few impurities cases, the detailed nature of collisions is determined by their quantum statistics. Self-localized state and solitons in a Bose-Einstein-condensate–impurity mixture at finite temperature

Abdelâali Boudjemâa

We study the properties of a Bose-Einstein-condensate (BEC)--impurity mixture at finite temperature employing the time-dependent Hartree-Fock Bogoliubov (TDHFB) theory which is a set of coupled nonlinear equations of motion for the condensate and its normal and anomalous fluctuations on the one hand and for impurity on the other. The numerical solutions of these equations in the static quasi-one-dimensional regime show that the thermal cloud and the anomalous density are deformed as happens to the condensate and the impurity becomes less localized at nonzero temperatures. Effects of the BEC fluctuations on the self-trapping state are studied in homogeneous weakly interacting BEC-impurity at low temperature. The self-trapping threshold is also determined in such a system. The formation of solitons in the BEC-impurity mixture at finite temperature is investigated.

Impurity localization, and collision properties of symbiotic dark-bright solitons in superfluid-impurity system

We investigate the dynamics of a binary mixture of Bose-Einstein condensates in the impurity limit -- where one component is dilute enough to be treated like an impurity -- and confined to two dimensions. Using the mean-field coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations, we find that the binary mixture supports the formation of stable symbiotic dark-bright solitons when the inter- and intra-component interactions are repulsive. We further study the interaction between solitons and observe that the solitons undergo merging and repulsion depending on the relative phase between the bright component of the composite structure.
