Abstract

Generation of Aharonov–Bohm (AB) phase has achieved a state-of-the-art in mesoscopic systems with manipulation and control of the AB effect. The possibility of transfer information encoded in such systems to nonclassical states of light increases the possible scenarios where the information can be manipulated and transferred. In this paper, we propose a quantum transfer of the AB phase generated in a spintronic device, a topological spin transistor (TST), to an quantum optical device, a coherent state superposition in high-Q cavity and discuss optical and spin-optical superpositions in the presence of an AB phase. We demonstrate that the AB phase generated in the TST can be transferred to the coherent state superposition, considering the interaction with the spin state and the quantum optical manipulation of the coherent state superposition. We show that these cases provide examples of two-qubit states modulated by AB effect and that the phase parameter can be used to control the degree of rotation of the qubit state. We also show under a measurement on the spin basis, an optical one-qubit state that can be modulated by the AB effect. In these cases, we consider a dispersive interaction between a coherent state and a spin state with an acquired AB phase and also discuss a dissipative case where a given Lindblad equation is achieved and solved.

Bit-encoding and quantum transfer of Aharonov-Bohm phase from a topological spin transistor to a high-Q cavity

Thiago Prudêncio

Generation of Aharonov-Bohm (AB) phase has achieved a state-of-the-art in mesoscopic systems with manipulation and control of the AB effect. The possibility of transfer information enconded in such systems to light increases the possible scenarios where the information can be manipulated and transfered. In this paper we discuss a bit-enconding of AB phases and propose a quantum transfer of the AB phase generated in a topological spin transistor (TST) to coherent state superposition in high-Q cavity. We demonstrate that the AB phase generated in the TST can be stored in a non-classical state of light, a coherent state superposition, by interacting dispersivelly the spin state carrying the AB phase with the cavity state initially in a coherent state. We also discuss the storage of bits enconded by AB phases in high-Q and multimode cavities.

Quantum gates with topological phases

Radu Ionicioiu

We investigate two models for performing topological quantum gates with the Aharonov-Bohm (AB) and Aharonov-Casher (AC) effects. Topological one- and two-qubit Abelian phases can be enacted with the AB effect using charge qubits, whereas the AC effect can be used to perform all single-qubit gates (Abelian and non-Abelian) for spin qubits. Possible experimental setups suitable for a solid-state implementation are briefly discussed.

Mesoscopic Superposition States Generated by Synthetic Spin-Orbit Interaction in Fock-State Lattices

Dawei Wang, Han Cai, Ren‐Bao Liu +1 more

Mesoscopic superposition states of photons can be prepared in three cavities interacting with the same two-level atom. By periodically modulating the three cavity frequencies around the transition frequency of the atom with a 2π/3 phase difference, the time reversal symmetry is broken and an optical circulator is generated with chiralities depending on the quantum state of the atom. A superposition of the atomic states can guide photons from one cavity to a mesoscopic superposition of the other two cavities. The physics can be understood in a finite spin-orbit-coupled Fock-state lattice where the atom and the cavities carry the spin and the orbit degrees of freedom, respectively. This scheme can be realized in circuit QED architectures and provides a new platform for exploring quantum information and topological physics in novel lattices.

Coherent Control of Interacting Particles Using Dynamical and Aharonov-Bohm Phases

C. E. Creffield, Gloria Platero

A powerful method of manipulating the dynamics of quantum coherent particles is to control the phase of their tunneling. We consider a system of two electrons hopping on a quasi-one-dimensional lattice in the presence of a uniform magnetic field and study the effect of adding a time-periodic driving potential. We show that the dynamical phases produced by the driving can combine with the Aharonov-Bohm phases to give precise control of the localization and dynamics of the particles, even in the presence of strong particle interactions.

Manipulating Majorana qubit states without braiding

Fei-Lei Xiong, Hon-Lam Lai, Wei-Min Zhang

We propose a scheme to manipulate the Majorana qubit states other than braiding. By utilizing electron transport through Majorana zero modes and tuning the magnetic flux in the setup, the aim of Majorana qubit state manipulation can be fulfilled. The principal part in the setup is an Aharonov-Bohm (AB) interferometer consisting of two topological superconducting chains (TSCs) connected to two leads. We obtain the exact master equation as well as its solution and study the general properties of the real-time dynamics of the Majorana qubit states. The parity of the Majorana qubit state can be almost perfectly polarized by tuning the bias and can also be flipped by switching the sign of the cross couplings between the TSCs and the leads. Moreover, the qubit coherence shows a phase rigidity due to the intrinsic particle-hole symmetry of the Majorana AB interferometer, which is different from that in the double-quantum-dot AB interferometers without topological properties.

Generating Majorana qubit coherence in Majorana Aharonov-Bohm interferometer

Fei-Lei Xiong, Hon-Lam Lai, Wei-Min Zhang

We propose an Aharonov-Bohm interferometer consisted of two topological superconducting chains (TSCs) to generate coherence of Majorana qubits, each qubit is made of two Majorana zero modes (MZMs) with the definite fermion parity. We obtain the generalized exact master equation as well as its solution and study the real-time dynamics of the MZM qubit states under various operations. We demonstrate that by tuning the magnetic flux, the decoherence rates can be modified significantly, and dissipationless MZMs can be generated. By applying the bias voltage to the leads, one can manipulate MZM qubit coherence and generate a nearly pure superposition state of Majorana qubit. Moreover, parity flipping between MZM qubits with different fermion parities can be realized by controlling the coupling between the leads and the TSCs through gate voltages.
