Abstract

This letter deals with the secrecy capacity of the radio channel in interference-limited regime. We assume that interferers are uniformly scattered over the network area according to a Point Poisson Process and the channel model consists of path-loss, log-normal shadowing and Nakagami-m fading. Both the probability of non-zero secrecy capacity and the secrecy outage probability are then derived in closed-form expressions using tools of stochastic geometry and higher-order statistics. Our numerical results show how the secrecy metrics are affected by the disposition of the desired receiver, the eavesdropper and the legitimate transmitter.

Security in Nakagami- m Fading Channel with Log-normal Shadowing

T. Kumer, M. Z. I. Sarkar, Dilip Kumar Sarker

In this paper, a confidential communication scenario is considered through composite Nakagami-m fading channel with log-normal shadowing in which a source communicates with a destination in the presence of an eavesdropper. Our study is concerned with the analysis of secrecy capacity and secure outage performance of Nakagami-m fading channel with shadowing. The performance of the proposed model is analyzed based on the closed-form expressions of the ergodic secrecy capacity, the probability of non-zero secrecy capacity and the secure outage probability using the Gauss-Hermite quadrature integration formula. Analytical results show that the shadowing effect significantly enhances the ergodic secrecy capacity of the proposed model.

Secrecy Outage Analysis Over Correlated Composite Nakagami- mmm /Gamma Fading Channels

George C. Alexandropoulos, Kostas P. Peppas

The secrecy systems operating over spatially correlated composite fading channels is analyzed in this letter. We adopt a multiplicative composite channel model for both the legitimate communication link and the link between the eavesdropper and the legitimate transmitter, consisting of Nakagami-m distributed small-scale fading and shadowing (large-scale fading) modeled by the Gamma distribution. We consider the realistic case where small-scale fading between the links is independent, but shadowing is arbitrarily correlated, and present novel analytical expressions for the probability that the secrecy capacity falls below a target secrecy rate. The presented numerically evaluated results, verified by equivalent computer simulations, offer useful insights on the impact of the shadowing correlation and composite fading parameters on the system's secrecy outage performance.

Secrecy outage of Nakagami-m MISO channels with randomly located receivers

Satyanarayana Vuppala, Weigang Liu, Giuseppe Thadeu Freitas de Abreu +1 more

We perform an analysis of the secrecy outage of random networks under Nakagami-m fading with multiple transmit antennas. Specifically, using a network model that accounts for uncertainties both in node locations (distances) and channel coefficients (fading), we derive the distribution of the best path gain of eavesdroppers using Probability Generating Functional property of Poisson Point Process (PPP). Using this result, the secrecy outage probability and the conditional secrecy outage probability of random networks with multiple eavesdroppers are obtained, with basic factors such as the density of eavesdropping nodes, the number of transmit antennas and the fading coefficient all accounted for by explicit parameters. The impact of transmission factors, including number of transmit antennas, fading figure, legitimate node distance and node density are studied and analysed in numerical results.

Secrecy Performance Analysis over Inverse Gamma Composite Multicast Fading Channels

Abdulkarim Al Hanif, A. S. M. Badrudduza, Md. Shakhawat Hossen +2 more

Secrecy performance of realistic wireless multicast scenarios are significantly deteriorated by simultaneous occurrence of multipath and shadowing which are modeled using composite fading channels. To resolve this security threat, in this paper a framework is proposed where a source transmits private multicast messages to multiple receivers over η - μ / inverse gamma composite fading channels. A group of eavesdroppers are trying to overhear this secret communication. Perfect secrecy is obtained if eavesdropper can not decode any information from the multicast links. Secrecy analysis is carried out deriving closed-form expressions of two well-known secrecy measures i.e. probability of non-zero secrecy capacity and secure outage probability for multicasting. The impacts of multipath, shadowing and other system parameters on the outage performance of the proposed scenario are quantified using the derived expressions. A generic nature of η - μ / inverse gamma distribution is obtained by showing Rayleigh, Nakagami-m, Nakagami-q, η - μ fading and Gaussian channels as a special case of this distribution. Finally, Monte-Carlo simulations are presented to verify the derived expressions.

Secure Communications over Wireless Networks

Md. Zahurul I. Sarkar

Nakagami-m fading channel is chosen to analyze the secrecy capacity for fading channels since the Nakagami-m distribution can model fading conditions, which are more or less severe than that of Rayleigh and has the advantage of including Rayleigh as a special case. At first, secrecy capacity is defined in case of full channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter, where transmitter has access to both the main channel and eavesdropper channel gains. Secondly, secrecy capacity is defined with only main channel CSI at the transmitter. Then, optimal power allocation at the transmitter that achieves the secrecy capacity is derived for both the cases. Moreover, secrecy capacity is defined under open-loop transmission scheme, and the exact closed form analytical expression for the lower bound of ergodic secrecy capacity is derived for Nakagami-m fading single-input multiple-output (SIMO) channel. In addition, secrecy capacity is defined for the AWGN channel in order to realize the information-theoretic security of wireless channels with no fading. Finally, analytical expressions for the probability of non-zero secrecy capacity and secure outage probability are derived in order to investigate the secure outage performance of fading channels.

Secrecy Capacity of Nakagami-m Fading Channels

Thang Van Nguyen, Hien Quoc Ngo, Hyundong Shin

This paper concerns with the transmission of confidential data over Nakagami-m fading channels with three terminals-a sender, a receiver and an eavesdropper. Considering the problem of secure communications between two nodes over a Nakagami-m fading channel in the presence of eavesdropper, we derive the closed-form expressions of the ergodic secrecy capacity and outage probability for two scenarios with and without channel state information at the transmitter.
