Abstract

The transient quantum statistical properties of the atoms and molecules in an atom-molecule BEC system are investigated by obtaining a third-order perturbative solution of the Heisenberg's equations of motion corresponding to the Hamiltonian of an atom-molecule BEC system where two atoms can collide to form a molecule. Time dependent quantities like two boson correlation, entanglement, squeezing, antibunching, etc., are computed and their properties are compared. It is established that atom-molecule BEC system is highly nonclassical as lower-order and higher-order squeezing and antibunching in pure (atomic and molecular) modes, squeezing and antibunching in compound mode and lower-order and higher-order entanglement in compound mode can be observed in the atom-molecule BEC system. Exact numerical results are also reported and analytic results obtained using the perturbative technique are shown to coincide with the exact numerical results.

Single-mode and intermodal higher-order nonclassicalities in two-mode Bose-Einstein condensates

Sandip Kumar Giri, Biswajit Sen, C. H. Raymond Ooi +1 more

An analytic operator solution of a generalized quantum mechanical Hamiltonian of two-mode Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) is obtained for short-time dynamics and the same is used to investigate the nonclassical properties of the modes present in the system. Nonclassical characters are observed by means of single-mode and intermodal quadrature squeezing, single-mode and intermodal sub-Poissonian boson statistics, and intermodal entanglement. In addition to the traditionally studied lower-order nonclassical properties, signatures of higher-order nonclassical characters of two-mode BEC systems are also obtained by investigating the possibility of higher-order antibunching and higher-order entanglement. The mutual relation among the observed nonclassicalities and their evolution (variation) with time and the ratio of the single boson tunneling amplitude ($\ensuremath{\varepsilon}$) and the coupling constant for the intramodal interaction ($\ensuremath{\kappa}$) are also reported.

Quantum dynamics and statistical properties of atom-molecule Bose-Einstein condensates

Guangri Jin, Chul Koo Kim, Kyun Nahm

Based on a two-mode boson model, we study nonclassical properties of the atom-molecule Bose-Einstein condensate. The effects of nonlinear collisions on the dynamics of the molecular formation is studied both in classical and quantum treatments. We find that the conversion from atoms to molecules can be suppressed strongly due to nonlinearity induced localization of the atomic population. In addition, we study statistical properties of the atom-molecule condensed system by calculating the intensity correlation functions numerically. We find that the effect of nonlinearity leads to the appearance of superchaotic molecular pulses, while maintaining the atomic field sub-Poissonian. The joint quantum statistical properties of the atoms and the molecules always show antibunching.

Lower- and higher-order nonclassicality in a Bose-condensed optomechanical-like system and a Fabry-Perot cavity with one movable mirror: squeezing, antibunching and entanglement

Nasir Alam, Kishore Thapliyal, Anirban Pathak +3 more

Various lower- and higher-order nonclassical properties have been studied for two physical systems- (i) an optomechanical system composed of a Fabry-Perot cavity with one nonlinearly oscillating mirror and (ii) an optomechanical-like system formed using a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) trapped inside an optical cavity. The investigation is performed using a perturbation method that leads to closed form analytic expressions for the time evolution of the relevant bosonic operators. In the first system, it is observed that the radiation pressure coupling leads to the emergence of lower- and higher-order squeezing, antibunching, entanglement and intermodal squeezing. The effects of the coherent interaction of a nonlinear oscillating mirror with the cavity mode are studied, and it is observed that the optomechanical system studied here becomes more nonclassical (entangled) when the coupling strength is increased. It is also observed that the possibility of observing entanglement depends on the phase of the movable mirror. The Hamiltonian of the trapped BEC system is obtained as a special case of the Hamiltonian of the first system, and the existence of various nonclassicality in the trapped BEC system has been established, and variations of those with various physical parameters have been reported with an aim to understand the underlying physical process that leads to and controls the nonclassicality.

Entanglement Properties of a Three-Mode Atom-Molecule Bose-Einstein Condensates System Considering the Interactions due to the s-wave Intramodal Elastic Scattering

S. K. Giri

Ultracold atoms in the atomic Bose-Einstein condensate (ABEC) state can form molecular Bose-Einstein condensate (MBEC) through photoassociation. In the atom-molecule Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs), two or more atoms in the ABEC can combine to form a molecule in the MBEC and again a molecule from a MBEC can decompose to atoms in the ABEC.The Bose-stimulated Raman adiabatic passage is an efficient mechanism for conversion of an atomic BEC to a molecular BEC.A three-mode atom-molecule Bose-Einstein condensates system can be prepared through the photoassociative Bose-stimulated Raman adiabatic passage. In our system, three modes are one ABEC, one excited MBEC, and one stable MBEC.The intramodal interactions due to the  (3) nonlinearity is present in all three BEC modes along with ABEC-excited MBEC and excited MBEC-stable MBEC intermodal couplings. The quantum mechanical Hamiltonian of the system is constructed considering all three intraspecies interactions and intermodal couplings among the modes. The Hamiltonian of the system is solved analytically using a special intuitive approach which is more general and gives more accurate result than the well-known short time approximation method. The correctness of the solution is verified through the equal time commutation relation.Staring from a three-mode composite coherent state we compute the time evolution of the field annihilation operators of all three modes in presence of all possible interactions and couplings.Using these solutions, we investigate the quantum entanglement properties of the system for all three two-mode combinations.Entanglement is found for two combinations of modes, where as one combination is always separable. Also, we study the dependence of the entanglement properties of the system with the interaction and coupling constants.

Dynamics of nonclassical properties of two- and four-mode Bose–Einstein condensates

Vlasta Peřinová, A. Lukš, J. Křepelka

A two-mode Bose–Einstein condensate (BEC) prepared in a Fock state initially evolves due to the coupling of modes. The time evolution of nonclassical properties exhibits that inter-mode entanglement, single-mode and higher order antibunching are present. A four-mode BEC is considered with the initial minimum-energy Bloch states, and the nonclassical behaviour is confirmed.
