Evolution equation for geometric quantum correlation measures

Abstract

A simple relation is established for the evolution equation of quantum-information-processing protocols such as quantum teleportation, remote state preparation, Bell-inequality violation, and particularly the dynamics of geometric quantum correlation measures. This relation shows that when the system traverses the local quantum channel, various figures of merit of the quantum correlations for different protocols demonstrate a factorization decay behavior for dynamics. We identified the family of quantum states for different kinds of quantum channels under the action of which the relation holds. This relation simplifies the assessment of many quantum tasks.

Evolution equation for quantum coherence

Ming‐Liang Hu, Heng Fan

The estimation of the decoherence process of an open quantum system is of both theoretical significance and experimental appealing. Practically, the decoherence can be easily estimated if the coherence evolution satisfies some simple relations. We introduce a framework for studying evolution equation of coherence. Based on this framework, we prove a simple factorization relation (FR) for the l1 norm of coherence, and identified the sets of quantum channels for which this FR holds. By using this FR, we further determine condition on the transformation matrix of the quantum channel which can support permanently freezing of the l1 norm of coherence. We finally reveal the universality of this FR by showing that it holds for many other related coherence and quantum correlation measures.

A Family of Quantum Protocols

Igor Devetak, Aram W. Harrow, Andreas Winter

We introduce three new quantum protocols involving noisy quantum channels and entangled states, and relate them operationally and conceptually with four well-known old protocols. Two of the new protocols (the mother and father) can generate the other five "child" protocols by direct application of teleportation and superdense coding, and can be derived in turn by making the old protocols "coherent." This gives very simple proofs for two famous old protocols (the hashing inequality and quantum channel capacity) and provides the basis for optimal trade-off curves in several quantum information processing tasks.

A study of quantum correlations in open quantum systems

Indranil Chakrabarty, Subhashish Banerjee, Nana Siddharth

In this work, we study quantum correlations in mixed states. The states studied are modeled by a two-qubit system interacting with its environment via a quantum non demolition (purely dephasing) as well as dissipative type of interaction. The entanglement dynamics of this two qubit system is analyzed. We make a comparative study of various measures of quantum correlations, like Concurrence, Bell's inequality, Discord and Teleportation fidelity, on these states, generated by the above evolutions. We classify these evoluted states on basis of various dynamical parameters like bath squeezing parameter $r$, inter-qubit spacing $r_{12}$, temperature $T$ and time of system-bath evolution $t$. In this study, in addition we report the existence of entangled states which do not violate Bell's inequality, but can still be useful as a potential resource for teleportation. Moreover we study the dynamics of quantum as well as classical correlation in presence of dissipative coherence.

PRESERVING QUANTUM CORRELATIONS VIA DECOHERENCE CHANNELS WITH MEMORY

Durgun Duran

Considering the quantum memory channels, we study the dynamical evolutions of quantum coherence and quantum mutual information as measures of quantum correlations under the actions of different decoherence channels on some bipartite initial states. Under any quantum operation or process occurring in a noisy environment, quantum correlations exhibit behavior that does not increase due to the system interacting with its environment. We state that for such a case the decrement of quantum correlations can be improved by the suitable choice of the initial states and by adjusting the parameters. Thus quantum correlations can be partially preserved against the action of the environment. It can be shown that optimal conditions to prohibit the partial loss in quantum coherence and quantum mutual information for performing any quantum information task may be generated by the memory.

Measurement-induced geometric measures of correlations based on the Hellinger distance and their local decoherence

Zbigniew Walczak

We apply the modified Brodutch and Modi method of constructing geometric measures of correlations to obtain analytical expressions for measurement-induced geometric classical and quantum correlations based on the Hellinger distance for two-qubit Bell diagonal states. Moreover, we study dynamics of the classical and quantum correlations for these states under decoherence induced by the action of bit flip, bit-phase flip, phase flip, depolarizing and generalized amplitude damping local quantum channels and identify all possible types of the decoherence dynamics. In particular, we show that these correlations exhibit freezing, sudden change and sudden transition between classical and quantum decoherence phenomena.
