Abstract

We present a scheme for transferring quantum state between atom and cavity field in Jaynes–Cummings model (JC) in the aid of spin-echo-like technique. It is based on the facts that the atom in a cavity can induce the generation of modified coherent states (MCSs), which can be shown to be macroscopically distinguishable, and the anti-commutation relation between the Hamiltonian and the z-component Pauli matrix. We show that this scheme is applicable for a class of cavity field states. The application on two-cavity system provides an alternative scheme for preparation of non-local superpositions of quasi-classical light states. Numerical simulation shows that the proposed schemes are efficient.

On the generation of number states, their single- and two-mode superpositions, and two-mode binomial state in a cavity

Seyedeh Robabeh Miry, Mohammad Kazem Tavassoly, R. Roknizadeh

The proposed schemes in this paper involve the interaction of a two-level atom with single- or two-mode quantized cavity fields (for different purposes) in the presence of a classical field. Indeed, following the path of Solano et al. in [Phys. Rev. Lett.90, 027903 (2003)], the behavior of the entire atom-field system may be described by the Jaynes–Cummings (JC)- and anti-Jaynes–Cummings (anti-JC)-like models. It is illustrated that, under specific conditions, the effective Hamiltonian of the system can be switched from a JC- to an anti-JC-like model. During the process, the two-level atom in the cavity is alternately affected by the above two effective interactions. Ultimately, after the occurrence of the desired interactions in appropriate setups, the cavity field will arrive at a specific superposition of number states, a fixed number state, and in particular, two-mode binomial field states. Moreover, the entanglement property of the two-mode binomial state is investigated by evaluating the entropy criterion. While there exist various proposals for preparation of number states and their superpositions in the literature, our scheme has the advantage that it is independent of the detection of the atomic state after the interaction occurs.

Scheme for generating entangled states of two field modes in a cavity

Jonas Larson

This paper considers a two-level atom interacting with two cavity modes with equal frequencies. Applying a unitary transformation, the system reduces to the analytically solvable Jaynes–Cummings model. For some particular field states, coherent and squeezed states, the transformation between the two bare bases, related by the unitary transformation, becomes particularly simple. It is shown how to generate (the highly non-classical) entangled coherent states of the two modes, both in the zero and large detuning cases. An advantage of the zero detuning case is that the preparation is deterministic and no atomic measurement is needed. For the large detuning situation, a measurement is required, leaving the field in either of two orthogonal entangled coherent states.

Scheme to transfer an atomic entangled state in cavity QED

NI Zhi-xiang

We present a scheme for transferring an unknown atomic entangled state via atom-cavity field interaction. This proposal, which has success probability of unit,is mainly employing two atoms for receiving the teleported state, and a two-mode cavity as the quantum channel. The two modes of the cavity have different frequencies and polarizations. So the two modes are distinguished by their frequencies and their orthogonal polarizations, hence they occupy distinct regions in the cavity. The atom interacts resonantly with the mode of the cavity according to the Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonian, and when interaction between the atom and one of the two modes takes place, the other mode remains unaffected. This scheme does not require Bell-state measurement and any operations to reconstruct the initial state. This scheme can also be extended to transfer entangled state of N-atom.

Generation of superpositions of displaced Fock states via the driven Jaynes - Cummings model

Shi-Biao Zheng, Guang‐Can Guo

We propose a method to produce superpositions of displaced Fock states via the driven Jaynes - Cummings model. We introduce the dressed-atom representation of the driven Jaynes - Cummings model to investigate the evolution of the state of the system. When the cavity field is in an initial coherent state ( is the amplitude of the classical driving field and g is the coupling constant between the atom and the cavity field), the evolution of the state of the system is similar to the vacuum Rabi oscillation of the normal Jaynes - Cummings model. After a period of interaction, the superposition of displaced Fock states of the cavity field can be generated by a state-selective measurement on the atom.

Generation of Three-Atom W State via Nonresonant Jaynes-Cummings Model

Deng-Yu Zhang, Xin-Wen Wang, Shi-Qing Tang +1 more

A simple scheme is presented for generating three-atom W state via nonresonant Jaynes-Cummings model. In the proposed protocol, it is injected two two-level atom initially prepared in the excited state and ground state through the cavity prepared in the vacuum state. The third two-level atom is prepared in the ground state and three two-level atom are injected into the second cavity prepared in the vacuum state. The experiment of the proposed scheme is feasible.

Quantum switching between nonclassical correlated single photons and two-photon bundles in a two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model

Jing Tang

We propose a scheme to realize a two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model for a single atom inside an optical cavity. It is shown that the interplay of a laser detuning and atom (cavity) pump (driven) field gives rise to the strong single photon blockade, two-photon bundles, and photon-induced tunneling. With the cavity driven field, strong photon blockade occurs in the weak coupling regime, and switching between single photon blockade and photon-induced tunneling at two-photon resonance are achievable via increasing the driven strength. By turning on the atom pump field, quantum switching between two-photon bundles and photon-induced tunneling at four-photon resonance are realized. More interestingly, the high-quality quantum switching between single photon blockade, two-photon bundles, and photon-induced tunneling at three-photon resonance is achieved with combining the atom pump and cavity driven fields simultaneously. In contrast to the standard two-level Jaynes-Cummings model, our scheme with generating a two-photon (multi-photon) Jaynes-Cummings model reveals a prominent strategy to engineer a series of special nonclassical quantum states, which may pave the way for investigating basic quantum devices to implement in quantum information processing and quantum networks.
