The construction of a class of unitary operators generating linear superpositions of generalized coherent states from the ground state of a quantum harmonic oscillator is reported. Such a construction, based on the properties of a new ad hoc introduced set of hermitian operators, leads to the definition of new basis in the oscillator Hilbert space, extending in a natural way the displaced Fock states basis. The potential development of our method and our results are briefly outlined.

The main goal of this paper is to present an alternative method to construct new kinds of nonlinear coherent states. To do this, we first establish a class of hypergeometric type of generalized displacement operators, 1 F r ([0], [0, 1, ..., r − 1], za †), act on the vacuum state of the harmonic oscillator and generate normalized quantum states of the Fock space which admit a resolution of the identity through a positive definite measure on the complex plane. Furthermore, realization of the compact form of these states, as functions of the position coordinate x for r = 2, leads to a generating function of the Hermite polynomials in terms of the modified Bessel function. Finally, studying some statistical characters reveals that they have indeed non-classical features such as squeezing, an anti-bunching effect and sub-Poissonian statistics, too.
We first review the properties of the harmonic-oscillator coherent states which can be equivalently defined as (a) a specific subset of the $x\ensuremath{-}p$ minimum-uncertainty states, (b) eigenstates of the annihilation operator, or (c) states created by a certain unitary exponential displacement operator. Then we present a new method for finding coherent states for particles in general potentials. Its basis is the desire to find those states which most nearly follow the classical motion, but it is most nearly a generalization of the minimum-uncertainty method. The properties of these states are discussed in detail. Next we show that the annihilation operator and displacement operator methods, as heretofore defined, cannot be applied to general potentials (whose eigenvalues are not equally spaced). We define a generalization of these methods but show that the states so defined are not, in general, equivalent to the minimum-uncertainty coherent states. We discuss a number of properties of our coherent states and the procedures we have used.
In this Chapter we study the Weyl–Heisenberg group in the Schrödinger representation in arbitrary dimension n. One shows that it operates in the Hilbert space of quantum states (and on quantum operators) as a phase-space translation. Then applying it to a Schwartz class state of arbitrary profile we get a set of generalized coherent states. When we apply the Weyl–Heisenberg translation operator to the ground state of the n-dimensional Harmonic Oscillator, one gets the standard coherent states introduced by Schrödinger [233] (Naturwissenshaften 14:664–666, 1926) in the early days of quantum mechanics (1926). Later the coherent states have been extensively studied by Glauber [118, 119] (Phys. Rev. 131:2766–2788, 1963; Phys. Rev. 130:2529–2539, 1963) for the purpose of quantum optics and it seems that their name comes back to this work. The standard coherent states have been generalized by Perelomov [208] (Generalised Coherent States and Their Applications, 1986) to more general Lie groups than the Weyl–Heisenberg group. We also introduce the usual creation and annihilation operators in dimension n which are very convenient for the study of coherent states. We show that coherent states constitute a non-orthogonal over-complete system which yields a resolution of the identity operator in the Hilbert space and which allows a computation of the Hilbert–Schmidt norm and of the trace of respectively Hilbert–Schmidt class and trace-class operators. We study their time-evolution for the quantum Harmonic Oscillator hamiltonian and show that a time evolved coherent state located around phase-space point z is up to a phase a coherent state located around the phase-space point zt, where zt is the phase-space point of the classical flow governed by the Harmonic Oscillator. This property was described by Schrödinger as the non-spreading of the time evolution of coherent states under the quantum Harmonic Oscillator dynamics. We also show how to go from the Schrödinger to the Fock–Bargmann representation using the standard coherent states.
A new kind of k-quantum nonlinear coherent states, i.e., the k eigenstates of the k-th power of the generalized annihilation operator of f-oscillators, are obtained and their properties are discussed. The completeness of the k states is investigated. An alternative method to construct them is proposed. It is shown that these states may form a complete Hilbert space, and all of them can be generated by a linear superposition of k Roy-type nonlinear coherent states. Physically, they can be generated by a linear superposition of the time-dependent Roy-type nonlinear coherent states at different instants.
We consider the problem of designing a variety of "system guided" basis sets for quantum mechanical anharmonic oscillators. Using ideas based on supersymmetric quantum mechanics, we design canonical transformations of the usual position and momentum to generate generalized "Cartesian-like positions, W and momenta, p_W" with unit Poisson brackets. These are quantized following Dirac, leading to an infinite family of potential "operator observables". The fundamental issue is that all but one of the operators are not Hermitian (formally self-adjoint) in the original position representation. We show that the resulting operators are "quasi-Hermitian" relative to the x-representation and that all are Hermitian in the W-representation. Depending on how one treats the Jacobian of the canonical transformation in the expression for the classical momentum, p_W, quantization yields a) continuous mutually unbiased bases (MUB) b) orthogonal bases (with Dirac delta normalization) c) biorthogonal bases (with Dirac delta normalization) d) new W-harmonic oscillators yielding standard orthonormal bases (as functions of W) and associated coherent states. The MUB include W-generalized Fourier transform kernels whose eigenvectors are the W-harmonic oscillator eigenstates, with the spectrum (p/m i, p/m i). The W, p_W satisfy the uncertainty product relation: Delta-W * Delta-p_W gte 1/2.
Recently a f-deformed Fock space which is spanned by ∣n>λ has been introduced. These bases are indeed the eigen-states of a deformed non-Hermitian Hamiltonian. In this contribution, we will use a rather new non-orthogonal basis vectors for the construction of coherent and squeezed states, which in special case lead to the earlier known states. For this purpose, we first generalize the previously introduced Fock space spanned by ∣n>λ bases, to a new one, spanned by an extended two-parameters bases ∣n>λ1,λ2. These bases are now the eigen-states of a non-Hermitian Hamiltonian Hλ1,λ2=aλ1,λ2†a+1/2, where aλ1,λ2†=a†+λ1a+λ2 and a are respectively, the deformed creation and ordinary bosonic annihilation operators. The bases ∣n>λ1,λ2 are non-orthogonal (squeezed states), but normalizable. Then, we deduce the new representations of coherent and squeezed states, in our two-parameters Fock space. Finally, we discuss the quantum statistical properties, as well as the non-classical properties of the obtained states, numerically.
