Abstract

We construct boundary type operators satisfying fused reflection equation for arbitrary representations of the Baxterized affine Hecke algebra. These operators are analogues of the fused reflection matrices in solvable half-line spin chain models. We show that these operators lead to a family of commuting transfer matrices of Sklyanin type. We derive fusion type functional relations for these operators for two families of representations.

Functional methods for the solution of one-dimensional quantum systems

Tobias Wirth

Subject of this work are integrable spin chains with general boundary conditions. In the framework of the Quantum Inverse Scattering Method Sklyanin has shown how to construct a family of commuting operators (transfer matrix) containing the hamiltonian of the XXX or XXZ spin chain with general boundary fields.Key ingredient is the underlying algebraic structure which is a combination of the Yang-Baxter algebra, using the known R-matrix representations, and a so-called Reflection algebra. The latter includes fields of arbitrary strength and direction acting on the first and last position of the chain. This setup is solvable via algebraic Bethe ansatz in the case of diagonal boundaries, i.e. the fields are parallel to each other and in the case of the XXZ model parallel to the distinguished direction.Kitanine et al. have managed to express local operators in terms of the non-local elements of the underlying algebraic structure in the case of half-infinite chain length hence establishing a possible approach to evaluate expectation values of physical observables.Their results will be picked up in this work and generalized to spin chains of arbitrary (including finite) lengths using non-linear integral equations for the lowest lying state with zero magnetization. In the case of non-diagonal boundary fields the lack of a reference state or pseudo vacuum prohibits the solution by algebraic Bethe ansatz. The method of separation of variables proposed by Sklyanin is not constrained in that sense and will be applied to this situation. In this approach for the XXX spin chain no restrictions to the boundary parameters are needed. The result is a TQ-equation on a finite discrete set of points and the eigenvalues of the transfer matrix are obtainable from this finite difference equation. As the underlying algebraic structure is independent of the representation, the analysis for the XXX spin chain can be extended to a spin-boson model.Using a known representation of the algebra for the bosonic degree of freedom again a TQ-equation is obtained but in this case being defined on an infinite discrete set of points. Finally a different approach to the case of non-diagonal boundary conditions using non-linear integral equations is studied.By construction of higher dimensional representations of the Yang Baxter algebra a hierarchy of transfer matrices is obtained. In this construction two R-matrices are fused together yielding the name of fusion hierarchy. From such hierarchies it is possible to derive non-linear integral equations for a certain eigenvalue of the transfer matrix using Fourier transform techniques. The equations are valid for arbitrary system sizes and a range of boundary parameters.By careful analysis of the zero and pole structure it is possible to extract information about the eigenvalue of a specific state.

On quantum group symmetry and Bethe ansatz for the asymmetric twin spin chain with integrable boundary

Anastasia Doikou, Paul Martin

Motivated by a study of the crossing symmetry of the asymmetric twin or ‘gemini’ representation of the affine Hecke algebra we give a construction for crossing tensor space representations of ordinary Hecke algebras. These representations build solutions to the Yang–Baxter equation satisfying the crossing condition (that is, integrable quantum spin chains). We show that every crossing representation of the Temperley–Lieb algebra appears in this construction, and in particular that this construction builds new representations. We extend these to new representations of the blob algebra, which build new solutions to the boundary Yang–Baxter equation (i.e. open spin chains with integrable boundary conditions). We prove that the open spin chain Hamiltonian derived from Sklyanin’s commuting transfer matrix using such a solution can always be expressed as the representation of an element of the blob algebra, and determine this element. We determine the representation theory (irreducible content) of the new representations and hence show that all such Hamiltonians have the same spectrum up to multiplicity, for any given value of the algebraic boundary parameter. (A corollary is that our models have the same spectrum as the open XXZ chain with nondiagonal boundary—despite differing from this model in having reference states.) Using these multiplicity data, and other ideas, we investigate the underlying quantum group symmetry of the new Hamiltonians. We derive the form of the spectrum and the Bethe ansatz equations.

A Q-Operator for Open Spin Chains II: Boundary Factorization

Alec Cooper, Bart Vlaar, Robert Weston

Abstract One of the features of Baxter’s Q-operators for many closed spin chain models is that all transfer matrices arise as products of two Q-operators with shifts in the spectral parameter. In the representation-theoretical approach to Q-operators, underlying this is a factorization formula for L-operators (solutions of the Yang–Baxter equation associated to particular infinite-dimensional representations). To extend such a formalism to open spin chains, one needs a factorization identity for solutions of the reflection equation (boundary Yang–Baxter equation) associated to these representations. In the case of quantum affine $$\mathfrak {sl}_2$$ sl 2 and diagonal K-matrices, we derive such an identity using the recently formulated theory of universal K-matrices for quantum affine algebras.

A general fusion procedure for open $\mathfrak{gl}(N)$ spin chains: Application to the ABJM spin chain

Nan Bai

We formulate a general fusion procedure for open $\mathfrak{gl}(N)$ spin chains. We construct the fused boundary reflection matrices and the corresponding fused reflection equations. By using the intertwining relation between the fused reflection matrices and the fusion operator, we identify the invariant subspace of the fused reflection matrices carrying the irreducible representations of $\mathfrak{gl}(N)$. We also construct the fused transfer matrix and evaluate it explicitly in the total tensor product space and the invariant subspaces. Finally, we demonstrate that the ABJM spin chain model originates from such fusion procedure and derive three classes of boundary reflection matrices solutions on the anti-fundamental representation space of $\mathfrak{su}(4)$.

FUSION HIERARCHY AND FINITE-SIZE CORRECTIONS OF Uq[sl(2)] INVARIANT VERTEX MODELS WITH OPEN BOUNDARIES

The fused six-vertex models with open boundary conditions are studied. The Bethe ansatz solution given by Sklyanin has been generalized to the transfer matrices of the fused models. We have shown that the eigenvalues of transfer matrices satisfy a group of functional relations, which are the su(2) fusion rule held by the transfer matrices of the fused models. The fused transfer matrices form a commuting family and also commute with the quantum group Uq[sl(2)]. In the case of the parameter qh = −1 (h = 4,5, · · ·) the functional relations in the limit of spectral parameter u → i ∞ are truncated. This shows that the su(2) fusion rule with finite level appears for the six vertex model with the open boundary conditions. We have solved the functional relations to obtain the finite-size corrections of the fused transfer matrices for low-lying excitations. From the corrections the central charges and conformal weights of underlying conformal field theory are extracted. To see different boundary conditions we also have studied the six-vertex model with a twisted boundary condition. hep-th/9502053; to appear in NPB. 1

Ruijsenaars-Macdonald-type difference operators from Belavin model with open boundary conditions

Bo-Yu Hou, Kangjie Shi, Yanshen Wang +1 more

Antisymmetric fusions of the Belavin model with integrable open boundary conditions are studied. The centre of the corresponding operator algebra, the Sklyanin determinant, is constructed. We prove that the transfer matrices of the fusion hierarchies mutually commute. Utilizing the factorized L operators, this commuting family is expressed as mutually commuting difference operators acting on a function space. This gives Ruijsenaars-Macdonald-type commuting difference operators, which describe the conservation laws of an integrable system.
