High NOON states in trapped ions

Abstract

We show how NOON states may be generated in ion traps. We use the individual interactions of light with each of the two vibrational modes of the ion to entangle them. This allows us to generate NOON states with N =8.

Generation of Cluster States of Trapped Ions

Mei-Feng Chen, Xia-Ping Jiang

A scheme is presented for generating cluster states in trapped ion system. The vibrational mode in the scheme is only virtually excited. The scheme uses two-level ions to generate cluster states and it only requires a single laser beam to illuminate two interacting ions. Therefore, the scheme is simple and easy. Its successful probability can reach 100%.

Generation of Multi-mode Entangled Coherent States for N Trapped Ions in Strong-Excitation Regime

Zheng Shi-Biao

We propose a scheme to generate entangled coherent states for the vibrational modes of N trapped ions. In the scheme the first ion is sequentially excited by two travelling wave laser fields tuned to the ion transition. The scheme works in the strong-excitation regime, which is of experimental importance in view of decoherence.

Generation of Vibrational Entangled Coherent States of Two Trapped Ions

We propose a scheme for the generation of entangled coherent states for the center-of-mass and relative vibrational modes of two trapped ions. In the scheme the ions are simultaneously illuminated by a single standing-wave laser tuned to the carrier. The scheme allows the production of an entangled coherent states with a considerably high speed as long as a laser field of sufficiently high intensity is available.
