Abstract

A scheme is presented for generating cluster states in trapped ion system. The vibrational mode in the scheme is only virtually excited. The scheme uses two-level ions to generate cluster states and it only requires a single laser beam to illuminate two interacting ions. Therefore, the scheme is simple and easy. Its successful probability can reach 100%.

Cluster states prepared by using hot trapped ions

We propose a scheme for the preparation of one-dimensional and two-dimensional cluster states by using hot trapped ions. The scheme is based on the interaction between two ions and bichromatic radiation. The vibrational mode in our protocol is only virtually excited so that the system is insensitive to the thermal field. In addition, we only use two levels of ions as qubits and the successful probability may achieve 100%.

Efficient Scheme for Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger State and Cluster State with Trapped Ions

Zhiming Zhan, Wen‐Xing Yang, Weibin Li +1 more

We propose a scheme to generate the Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states and the cluster states of many trapped ions. In the scheme, the ion is illuminated by a single laser tuned to the first lower vibrational sideband. The scheme only requires resonant interactions. Thus the scheme is very simple and the quantum dynamics operation can be realized at a high speed, which is important in view of decoherence.

Generation of cluster states in ion-trap systems

Shi‐Biao Zheng

We propose two schemes for the generation of four-qubit cluster states in ion-trap systems. The first scheme is based on resonant sideband excitation, while the second scheme does not use the vibrational mode as the memory. The schemes can be realized with presently available ion-trap techniques.

MAXIMALLY ENTANGLED STATES FOR MANY TRAPPED IONS FROM SINGLE RESONANT INTERACTIONS

Lin Li, Dahai Xu, Yonghong Tian +1 more

We propose an alternative scheme to generate the GHZ states and cluster states for many trapped ions illuminated by a single laser tuned to the first lower vibrational sideband. The distinct advantage of the present scheme is that it does not use the vibrational mode as the data bus and only requires a single resonant interaction. Thus the present scheme is very simple and the interaction time is very short, which is important in view of decoherence.

Simple schemes for preparation of multipartite entangled states of trapped ions

Feng Zhong

Three experimentally feasible schemes are proposed for generating multipartite entangled states of cold trapped ions.In the first scheme,a GHZ state can be simply synthesized in a single step. The second scheme is to prepare fully symmetric W states with two steps. The third scheme describes the sequential generation of linear cluster states. In addition,a method to create a larger cluster state was also presented by fuzing the end qubits of two smaller cluster states in order to decrease the distortion caused by decoherence, which can speed up the generation of large cluster states. The above schemes involve the collective interaction between multiple ions with the vibrational ground state and a large detuned laser. Compared with previous schemes, the above schemes have four advantages.Firstly, they do not require the vibrational mode of ions as memory.Secondly, they do not need to address the ions individually.Thirdly, they are free from the effects of phase fluctuation of laser field. Finally, they need less operations.

Generation of Vibrational Entangled Coherent States of Two Trapped Ions

Li-Hua Lin, Yun-Kun Jiang, Zhen‐Biao Yang +1 more

We propose a scheme for the generation of entangled coherent states for the center-of-mass and relative vibrational modes of two trapped ions. In the scheme the ions are simultaneously illuminated by a single standing-wave laser tuned to the carrier. The scheme allows the production of an entangled coherent states with a considerably high speed as long as a laser field of sufficiently high intensity is available.
