Abstract

The dispersive interaction between a two-level atom and a quantized field is studied. We consider besides a time dependent linear amplification and dissipative processes. In order to solve the master equation for this system, we use superoperator techniques.

Linear entropy in the atom-field interaction at finite temperature

H. M. Moya-Cessa, Raúl Juárez-Amaro

We study the atom-field interaction at finite temperature and in the dispersive regime. We show that the master equation for this sytem may be solved with the use of superoperator techniques. We calculate the linear entropy in case the field is initially in a coherent state and the atom in a superposition of its ground and excited states.

Solution to Nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings Models with Nonlinearities of both Two-Mode Field and Atom-Field Interaction

Yu Wan‐Lun

We use the Lewis-Riesenfeld invariant and superoperator methods to solve the system of the interaction of a two-level atom with two modes of a quantized field via multiphoton process, including any form of both intensity-dependent interaction and nonlinearity of the two-mode radiation field. The corresponding general atom-field wave function and time evolution operator as well as the time-evolving expressions for both the atomic inversion and the photon numbers of two modes field are evaluated.

Master equation for dissipative dynamics of a two-level atom in the superintense field: Field-dependent relaxation

Gautam Gangopadhyay, Deb Shankar Ray

We derive a generalized master equation on the basis of system-reservoir theory where the system is a two-level atom interacting with a superintense classical electromagnetic field within the Born and Markov approximations. We show that the usual assumption of independence of the atom-field coupling and the atomic decay processes breaks down and the relaxation becomes field dependent in the superintense regime. This results in significant deviation from the exponential decay of the Bloch vector components.

The atomic damping basis and the collective decay of interacting two-level atoms

William Alvarez-Giron, Pablo Barberis-Blostein

Abstract We find analytical solutions to the evolution of interacting two-level atoms when the master equation is symmetric under the permutation of atomic labels. The master equation includes atomic independent dissipation. The method to obtain the solutions is: first, we use the system symmetries to describe the evolution in an operator space whose dimension grows polynomially with the number of atoms. Second, we expand the solutions in a basis composed of eigenvectors of the dissipative part of the master equation that models the independent dissipation of the atoms. This atomic damping basis is an atomic analog to the damping basis used for bosonic fields Briegel and Englert (1993 Phys. Rev. A 47 3311–29). The solutions show that the system decays as a sum of sub- and super-radiant exponential terms.

Dispersive atomic evolution in a dissipative-driven cavity

S. M. Chumakov, A. B. Klimov, C. Saavedra

We study the dynamics of a collection of two-level atoms interacting with a single mode of a quantized field in a dissipative cavity in the dispersive regime. The quantized mode is driven by a classical driving field. The steady-state density matrix is obtained. The influence of the driving field on the quantized driven field and on atomic properties in both the dissipative and the lossless cases is studied. The atomic decoherence time in the dissipative-driven case is obtained. We show that the external driving field strongly suppresses the atomic coherence (in comparison with the dissipative cavity without the driving field).
