Secrecy capacity enhancement in two-hop DF relaying systems in the presence of eavesdropper

Elham Nosrati, Xianbin Wang, Arash Khabbazibasmenj

In this paper, we propose a random phase shifting scheme applied to modulated data symbols of a dual-hop decode-and-forward (DF) relaying system to enhance its secrecy capacity in the presence of an eavesdropper, which can wiretap the communication signals of both hops. The random phase shift used in the proposed scheme is generated using a shared secret between transmitter and receiver of each hop, such as the reciprocal channel between the communicating devices, which is not accessible to the eavesdropper. Through theoretical analysis of the secrecy capacity, we have proven that the proposed scheme improves the ergodic secrecy capacity of the system. Notably, the proposed scheme is energy efficient so it can be applied to the systems with limited power resources at source and relay nodes.

PHY layer security for IOT in κ-μ fading channel

In this paper, we analyze the secrecy performance of a two hop communication system with a Decode-and-Forward (DF) relay in a k-μ fading channel for Internet of Things (IOT) applications in the presence of an eavesdropper. The eavesdropper wiretaps from a single hop in the first case and from both the hops in second case. Analytical expressions for Secrecy Outage Probability (SOP) and Strictly Positive Secrecy Capacity (SPSC) have been derived. MATLAB based simulation has been carried out to evaluate the secrecy performance following our analytical formulation. Effects of channel and network parameters on secrecy performance are indicated.

Interference Leakage Neutralization in Two-Hop Wiretap Channels with Partial CSI

Sabrina Engelmann, Zuleita Ho, Eduard Axel Jorswieck

In this paper, we analyze the four-node relay wiretap channel, where the relay performs amplify-and-forward. There is no direct link between transmitter and receiver available. The transmitter has multiple antennas, which assist in securing the transmission over both phases. In case of full channel state information (CSI), the transmitter can apply information leakage neutralization in order to prevent the eavesdropper from obtaining any information about the signal sent. This gets more challenging, if the transmitter has only an outdated estimate of the channel from the relay to the eavesdropper. For this case, we optimize the worst case secrecy rate by choosing intelligently the beamforming vectors and the power allocation at the transmitter and the relay.
