Posterior quantum dynamics for a continuous diffusion observation of a coherent channel

Abstract

We present the Belavkin filtering equation for the intense balanced heterodyne detection in a unitary model of an indirect observation. The measuring apparatus modelled by a Bose field is initially prepared in a coherent state and the observed process is a diffusion one. We prove that this filtering equation is relaxing: any initial square-integrable function tends asymptotically to a coherent state with an amplitude depending on the coupling constant and the initial state of the apparatus. The time development of a squeezed coherent state is studied and compared with the previous results obtained for the measuring apparatus prepared initially in the vacuum state.

Filtering equation for measurement of a coherent channel

Anita Magdalena Dąbrowska, P. Staszewski

We propose a stochastic model for continuous photon counting and heterodyne measurement of a coherent source. A nonlinear filtering equation for the posterior state of a single-mode field in a cavity is derived by using the methods of the quantum stochastic calculus. The posterior dynamics is found for the observation of a Bose field being initially in a coherent state. The filtering equations for the counting and diffusion processes are given.

Continuous observation of a squeezed coherent state

The main aim of the paper is to present the analytical solution of the Belavkin quantum filtering equation for damped harmonic oscillator being initially in the squeezed coherent state for diffusion observation with complex white noise. The comparison of the a priori and a posteriori mean value of the optical quadrature operators and the photon number operator is given.

On the asymptotic solutions of Belavkin's stochastic wave equation

Dariusz Chruściński, P. Staszewski

A posterior dynamics of an observed quantum particle in a quadratic potential is studied. It is proved that Belavkin's stochastic wave equation for the quantum particle with continuously observed 1) position, 2) momentum, 3) position and momentum is uniquely relaxing to the corresponding Gaussian wave packet for any initial square-integrable wave function. A comparison of the asymptotic position-momentum uncertainties of these measurements is given.

A phase-space formulation of the Belavkin-Kushner-Stratonovich filtering equation for nonlinear quantum stochastic systems

Igor G. Vladimirov

This paper is concerned with a filtering problem for a class of nonlinear quantum stochastic systems with multichannel nondemolition measurements. The system-observation dynamics are governed by a Markovian Hudson-Parthasarathy quantum stochastic differential equation driven by quantum Wiener processes of bosonic fields in vacuum state. The Hamiltonian and system-field coupling operators, as functions of the system variables, are represented in a Weyl quantization form. Using the Wigner-Moyal phase-space framework, we obtain a stochastic integro-differential equation for the posterior quasi-characteristic function (QCF) of the system conditioned on the measurements. This equation is a spatial Fourier domain representation of the Belavkin-Kushner- Stratonovich stochastic master equation driven by the innovation process associated with the measurements. We also discuss a more specific form of the posterior QCF dynamics in the case of linear system-field coupling and outline a Gaussian approximation of the posterior quantum state.
