NONLINEARITIES IN THE QUANTUM MULTIVERSE

Abstract

It has been recently proposed that the multiverse of eternal inflation, string landscape and the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics can be identified, yielding a new view on the measure and measurement problems. In the present note, we argue that a nonlinear evolution of observables in the quantum multiverse would be an obstacle for such a description and that these nonlinearities are expected from quite general arguments.

Testing the Everett Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics with Cosmology

Aurélien Barrau

In this brief note, we argue that contrarily to what is still often stated, the Everett many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics is not in principle impossible to test. It is actually not more difficult (but not easier either) to test than most other kinds of multiverse theories. We also remind why multiverse scenarios can be falsified.

NONLOCALITY AS EVIDENCE FOR A MULTIVERSE COSMOLOGY

Frank J. Tipler

We show that observations of quantum nonlocaltiy can be interpreted as purely local phenomena, provided one assumes that the cosmos is a multiverse. Conversely, the observation of quantum nonlocality can be interpreted as observation evidence for a multiverse cosmology, just as observation of the setting of the Sun can be interpreted as evidence for the Earth's rotation.

A General Framework for Nonlinear Quantum Dynamics

S. Gheorghiu-Svirschevski

We outline an approach that streamlines considerably the construction and analysis of well-behaved nonlinear quantum dynamics, with completely positive extensions to entangled systems. A few notes are added on the issue of quantum measurements under a nonlinear dynamics.

Origin of probabilities and their application to the multiverse

Andreas Albrecht, Daniel Phillips

We argue using simple models that all successful practical uses of probabilities originate in quantum fluctuations in the microscopic physical world around us, often propagated to macroscopic scales. Thus we claim there is no physically verified fully classical theory of probability. We comment on the general implications of this view, and specifically question the application of purely classical probabilities to cosmology in cases where key questions are known to have no quantum answer. We argue that the ideas developed here may offer a way out of the notorious measure problems of eternal inflation.

The Multiverse as ψ-Splices: Branching Realities from Fifth-Dimensional Seams in Chrono-Gravitational Foam

Parkes, Adam James

This preprint extends the chrono-geometry framework to the multiverse, interpreting parallel realities as "ψ-splices"—topological seams where the fifth scale dimension bifurcates and recombines within the quantum foam. Decoherence emerges as splice events severing braided histories, while eternal inflation arises from cascading ψ-forks during rapid dimensional unraveling. The many-worlds interpretation is recast as the full superposed 5D weave, with our observable branch a locally stable tangle patch. Key results include a spliced wavefunction formalism, probabilistic Born rule from braid tensions, and rare ψ-rejoins enabling cross-branch interference. Implications feature splice scars in cosmic microwave background cold spots and potential anomalies in quantum eraser experiments. This work resolves measure and landscape problems topologically, building on prior ψ-unraveling for quantum gravity. References the foundational quantum treatment: Parkes, A.J. (2025).
