Local height probabilities in a composite Andrews–Baxter–Forrester model

Abstract

We study the local height probabilities in a composite height model, derived from the restricted solid-on-solid model introduced by Andrews, Baxter and Forrester, and their connection with conformal field theory characters. The obtained conformal field theories also describe the critical behavior of the model at two different critical points. In addition, at criticality, the model is equivalent to a one-dimensional chain of anyons, subject to competing two- and three-body interactions. The anyonic-chain interpretation provided the original motivation to introduce the composite height model, and by obtaining the critical behavior of the composite height model, the critical behavior of the anyonic chains is established as well. Depending on the overall sign of the Hamiltonian, this critical behavior is described by a diagonal coset-model, generalizing the minimal models for one sign, and by Fateev–Zamolodchikov parafermions for the other.

Integrability in anyonic quantum spin chains via a composite height model

Paata Kakashvili, Eddy Ardonne

Recently, properties of collective states of interacting non-Abelian anyons have attracted considerable attention. We study an extension of the ``golden chain model,'' where two- and three-body interactions are competing. Upon fine tuning the interaction, the model is integrable. This provides an additional integrable point of the model, on top of the integrable point, when the three-body interaction is absent. To solve the model, we construct a new, integrable height model, in the spirit of the restricted solid-on-solid model solved by Andrews et al. [J. Stat. Phys. 35, 193 (1984)]. The heights in our model live on both the sites and links of the square lattice. The model is solved by means of the corner transfer matrix method. We find a connection between local height probabilities and characters of a conformal field theory governing the critical properties at the integrable point. In the antiferromagnetic regime, the criticality is described by the ${Z}_{k}$ parafermion conformal field theory, while the $\frac{\text{su}{(2)}_{1}\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}\text{su}{(2)}_{1}\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}\text{su}{(2)}_{k\ensuremath{-}2}}{\text{su}{(2)}_{k}}$ coset conformal field theory describes the ferromagnetic regime.

Off-critical logarithmic minimal models

Paul A Pearce, Katherine Seaton

We consider the integrable minimal models ℳ( m , m ′; t ), corresponding to the φ 1,3 perturbation off-criticality, in the logarithmic limit m , m ′ → ∞, m / m ′ → p / p ′ where p , p ′ are coprime and the limit is taken through coprime values of m , m ′. We view these off-critical minimal models ℳ( m , m ′; t ) as the continuum scaling limit of the Forrester–Baxter restricted solid-on-solid (RSOS) models on the square lattice. Applying corner transfer matrices to the Forrester–Baxter RSOS models in regime III, we argue that taking first the thermodynamic limit and second the logarithmic limit yields off-critical logarithmic minimal models ℒℳ( p , p ′; t ) corresponding to the φ 1,3 perturbation of the critical logarithmic minimal models ℒℳ( p , p ′). Specifically, in accord with the Kyoto correspondence principle, we show that the logarithmic limit of the one-dimensional configurational sums yields finitized quasi-rational characters of the Kac representations of the critical logarithmic minimal models ℒℳ( p , p ′). We also calculate the logarithmic limit of certain off-critical observables 𝒪 r , s related to one-point functions and show that the associated critical exponents produce all conformal dimensions in the infinitely extended Kac table. The corresponding Kac labels ( r , s ) satisfy ( p s − p ′ r ) 2 < 8 p ( p ′ − p ). The exponent 2 − α = p ′/2( p ′ − p ) is obtained from the logarithmic limit of the free energy giving the conformal dimension for the perturbing field t . As befits a non-unitary theory, some observables 𝒪 r , s diverge at criticality.

Free energy and correlation lengths of quantum chains related to restricted solid‐on‐solid lattice models

Andreas Klümper

Abstract An approach is presented for calculating the free energy as well as the correlation lengths of integrable quantum chains at arbitrary finite temperatures. The method is applied to critical Hamiltonians related to restricted solid‐on‐olid models comprising the hierarchy by Andrews, Baxter and Forrester, and generalizations hereof by the fusion procedure. The derived non‐linear integral equations can be studied analytically in the low‐temperature and high‐temperature limits. The central charges and all primary conformal weights are obtained for the generalized minimal unitary series of conformal field theory and the ZN parafermion theories. Thus an extension of the thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz is realized which recently has been speculated on in the literature.

Anyonic Chains, Topological Defects, and Conformal Field Theory

Matthew Buican, Andrey Gromov

Motivated by the three-dimensional topological field theory/two-dimensional conformal field theory (CFT) correspondence, we study a broad class of one-dimensional quantum mechanical models, known as anyonic chains, which can give rise to an enormously rich (and largely unexplored) space of two-dimensional critical theories in the thermodynamic limit. One remarkable feature of these systems is the appearance of non-local microscopic “topological symmetries” that descend to topological defects of the resulting CFTs. We derive various model-independent properties of these theories and of this topological symmetry/topological defect correspondence. For example, by studying precursors of certain twist and defect fields directly in the anyonic chains, we argue that (under mild assumptions) the two-dimensional CFTs correspond to particular modular invariants with respect to their maximal chiral algebras and that the topological defects descending from topological symmetries commute with these maximal chiral algebras. Using this map, we apply properties of defect Hilbert spaces to show how topological symmetries give a handle on the set of allowed relevant deformations of these theories. Throughout, we give a unified perspective that treats the constraints from discrete symmetries on the same footing as the constraints from topological ones.

Further solutions of critical ABF RSOS models

Yu-Kui Zhou

The restricted SOS model of Andrews, Baxter and Forrester (1984) has been studied. The finite size corrections to the eigenvalue spectra of the transfer matrix of the model with a more general crossing parameter have been calculated. Therefore the conformal weights and the central charges of the non-unitary or unitary minimal conformal field have been extracted from the finite size corrections.

Scattering Amplitudes in Offcritical Models and RSOS Integrable Models
