Simple non-Markovian microscopic models for the depolarizing channel of a single qubit

K. M. Fonseca-Romero, Rosario Lo Franco

Abstract

The archetypal one-qubit noisy channels—depolarizing, phase-damping and amplitude-damping channels—describe both Markovian and non-Markovian evolution. Simple microscopic models for the depolarizing channel, both classical and quantum, are considered. Microscopic models that describe phase-damping and amplitude-damping channels are briefly reviewed.

Non-Markovinity of single qubit channels: analytical and numerical methods

Jian-Song Zhang, Aixi Chen

We propose methods to calculate non-Markovianity of four typical single qubit channels including flip (bit-flip, phase-flip, and bit-phase flip channels), depolarizing, phase damping, and amplitude damping channels analytically. Explicit expressions of non-Markovianity for some single qubit channels are obtained. For general channels we propose the Euler parametrization representation of quantum states to calculate non-Markovianity numerically.

Dynamics of coherence-induced state ordering under Markovian channels

Yang, L., Chen, B., Fei, S. +1 more

We study the dynamics of coherence-induced state ordering under incoherent channels, particularly four specific Markovian channels: amplitude damping channel, phase damping channel, depolarizing channel and bit flit channel for single-qubit states. We show that the amplitude damping channel, phase damping channel, and depolarizing channel do not change the coherence-induced state ordering by l1 norm of coherence, relative entropy of coherence, geometric measure of coherence, and Tsallis relative α-entropies, while the bit flit channel does change for some special cases.

Dynamics of Cohering and Decohering Power under Markovian Channels*

Ming-Ming 明明 Chen 陈, Yu 宇 Luo 罗, Lian-He 连合 Shao 邵 +1 more

Abstract In this paper, we investigate the cohering and decohering power of the one-qubit Markovian channels with respect to coherence measures based on the l 1 - norm, the Rényi α - relative entropy and the Tsallis α - relative entropy of coherence, respectively. The amplitude damping channel, phase damping channel, depolarizing channel, and flip channels are analytically calculated. It shows that the decohering power of the amplitude damping channel on the x , y , and z basis is equal to each other. The same phenomenon can be seen for the phase damping channel and the flip channels. The cohering power for the phase damping channel and the flip channels on the x , y basis also equals to that on the z basis. However, the cohering and decohering power of the depolarizing channel is independent to the reference basises. And the cohering power of the amplitude damping channel on the x , y basis is different to that on the z basis.

Qudit states in noisy quantum channels

Supriyo Dutta, Subhashish Banerjee, Monika Rani

Abstract In this work, we analyze a number of noisy quantum channels on a family of qudit states. The channels studied are the dit-flip noise, phase flip noise, dit-phase flip noise, depolarizing noise, non-Markovian Amplitude Damping Channel (ADC), dephasing noise, and depolarization noise. To gauge the effect of noise, the fidelity between the original and the final states is studied. The change of coherence under the action of noisy channels is also studied, both analytically and numerically. Our approach is advantageous as it has an explicit relation to the original approach to the multi-qubit hypergraph states.

Decoherence models and their effects on quantum maps and algorithms

Mario Leandro Aolita, Marcos Saraceno

In this work we study several models of decoherence and how different quantum maps and algorithms react when perturbed by them. Following closely Ref. [1], generalizations of the three paradigmatic one single qubit quantum channels (these are the depolarizing channel, the phase damping channel and the amplitude damping channel) for the case of an arbitrarily-sized finite-dimensional Hilbert space are presented, as well as other types of noise in phase space. More specifically, Grover's search algorithm's response to decoherence is analyzed; together with those of a family of quantum versions of chaotic and regular classical maps (the baker's map and the cat maps). A relationship between how sensitive to decoherence a quantum map is and the degree of complexity in the dynamics of its associated classical counterpart is observed; resulting in a clear tendency to react the more decoherently the more complex the associated classical dynamics is.
