Abstract

Abstract In this paper, we investigate the cohering and decohering power of the one-qubit Markovian channels with respect to coherence measures based on the l 1 - norm, the Rényi α - relative entropy and the Tsallis α - relative entropy of coherence, respectively. The amplitude damping channel, phase damping channel, depolarizing channel, and flip channels are analytically calculated. It shows that the decohering power of the amplitude damping channel on the x , y , and z basis is equal to each other. The same phenomenon can be seen for the phase damping channel and the flip channels. The cohering power for the phase damping channel and the flip channels on the x , y basis also equals to that on the z basis. However, the cohering and decohering power of the depolarizing channel is independent to the reference basises. And the cohering power of the amplitude damping channel on the x , y basis is different to that on the z basis.

Dynamics of coherence-induced state ordering under Markovian channels

Long-Mei Yang, Bin Chen, Shao-Ming Fei +1 more

We study the dynamics of coherence-induced state ordering under incoherent channels, particularly four specific Markovian channels: amplitude damping channel, phase damping channel, depolarizing channel and bit flit channel for single-qubit states. We show that the amplitude damping channel, phase damping channel, and depolarizing channel do not change the coherence-induced state ordering by l 1 norm of coherence, relative entropy of coherence, geometric measure of coherence, and Tsallis relative α -entropies, while the bit flit channel does change for some special cases.

Cohering and decohering power of quantum channels

Azam Mani, Vahid Karimipour

We introduce the concepts of cohering and decohering power of quantum channels. Using the axiomatic definition of the coherence measure, we show that the optimization required for calculations of these measures can be restricted to pure input states and hence greatly simplified. We then use two examples of this measure, one based on the skew information and the other based on the ${l}_{1}$ norm; we find the cohering and decohering measures of a number of one-, two-, and $n$-qubit channels. Contrary to the view at first glance, it is seen that quantum channels can have cohering power. It is also shown that a specific property of a qubit unitary map is that it has equal cohering and decohering power in any basis. Finally, we derive simple relations between cohering and decohering powers of unitary qubit gates and their tensor products, results which have physically interesting implications.

Quantum coherence of a two-qubit system based on correlated channels

Liu Sun, Shao-Qiang Shang

Abstract This paper systematically investigates the coherence dynamics of a two-qubit system under correlated channels. Through density matrix transformation and operator algebra derivation, we analyze the regulatory effects of memory properties of correlated amplitude damping, phase damping, and depolarization channels on three kinds of coherence, namely l 2 -norm coherence, Tsallis 2-relative entropy coherence, and Rényi 2-relative entropy coherence. The results show that phase damping and depolarization channels induce coherence freezing under perfect memory conditions, where coherence values remain invariant with channel damping rate variations. In partial memory environments, l 2 -norm coherence exhibits superior stability and retains coherence more efficiently than the other two coherence measures. In addition, we quantitatively evaluate the cohering and decohering power of these coherences under the correlated amplitude damping channel. This work provides theoretical support for anti-noise design of quantum technologies in open quantum systems.

Non-Markovinity of single qubit channels: analytical and numerical methods

Jian-Song Zhang, Aixi Chen

We propose methods to calculate non-Markovianity of four typical single qubit channels including flip (bit-flip, phase-flip, and bit-phase flip channels), depolarizing, phase damping, and amplitude damping channels analytically. Explicit expressions of non-Markovianity for some single qubit channels are obtained. For general channels we propose the Euler parametrization representation of quantum states to calculate non-Markovianity numerically.

Quantifying quantum non-Markovianity based on quantum coherence via skew information

Lian-He Shao, Yu-Ran Zhang, Yu Luo +2 more

Abstract Based on the nonincreasing property of quantum coherence via skew information under incoherent completely positive and trace-preserving maps, we propose a non-Markovianity measure for open quantum processes. As applications, by applying the proposed measure to some typical noisy channels, we find that it is equivalent to the three previous measures of non-Markovianity for phase damping and amplitude damping channels, i.e. the measures based on the quantum trace distance, dynamical divisibility, and quantum mutual information. For the random unitary channel, it is equivalent to the non-Markovianity measure based on l 1 norm of coherence for a class of output states and it is incompletely equivalent to the measure based on dynamical divisibility. We also use the modified Tsallis relative entropy of coherence to detect the non-Markovianity of dynamics of quantum open systems, the results show that the modified Tsallis relative entropy of coherence are more comfortable than the original Tsallis relative entropy of coherence for small .
