Abstract

We analyze the recently introduced notion of quantumness witnesses and compare it to that of entanglement witnesses. We show that any entanglement witness is also a quantumness witness. We then consider some physically relevant examples and explicitly construct some witnesses.

Quantumness witnesses

Robert Alicki, Marco Piani, Nicholas Van Ryn

A recently proposed test of quantumness Alicki and Van Ryn ( 2008 J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 41 062001 ) is put into a broader mathematical and physical perspective. The notion of quantumness witnesses is introduced, in analogy to entanglement witnesses, and is illustrated by examples of single qubit and many-body systems with additive observables. We also compare our proposal with the quantumness test based on quantum correlations (entanglement) and Bell inequalities, and go on to discuss a class of quantumness witnesses associated with the phase-space representation of quantum mechanics.

A Class of Bell Diagonal States and Entanglement Witnesses

Dariusz Chruściński, Andrzej Kossakowski, Krzysztof Młodawski +1 more

We analyze special class of bipartite states — so-called Bell diagonal states. In particular, we provide new examples of bound entangled Bell diagonal states and construct the class of entanglement witnesses diagonal in the magic basis.

How useful is a single entanglement witness? (Conference Presentation)

Joonwoo Bae

Entanglement detection is one of the most fundamental and practical tasks for quantum information processing. The framework of entanglement witnesses provides an experimentally feasible method detecting entangled states. Although It is clear that no entanglement witness per se can detect all entangled states, little is known about how useful a single entanglement witness is. In this work, we show that an entanglement witness can construct another entanglement witness. This means that the same measurement outcomes can be repeatedly applied to constructing different entanglement witnesses.

How to construct indecomposable entanglement witnesses

Dariusz Chruściński, Andrzej Kossakowski

We present a very simple method for constructing indecomposable entanglement witnesses out of a given pair—an entanglement witness W and the corresponding state detected by W . This method may be used to produce new classes of atomic witnesses which are able to detect the 'weakest' quantum entanglement. Actually, it works perfectly in the multipartite case, too. Moreover, this method provides a powerful tool for constructing new examples of bound entangled states.

A note on the entanglement witness of bipartite quantum states

Lili Liu

Based on the existing conclusions on entanglement witness of bipartite states, entanglement witnesses of bipartite quantum states are further discussed.Firstly,in light of a decomposition of a self-adjoint operator, characterization of an entanglement witness is given, and some properties of entanglement witnesses are proved. An example is taken to illustrate the judgment of optimal entanglement witness. Finally, the optimal entanglement witnesses are discussed and a judgment of optimal indecomposable entanglement witness is presented.

Entanglement Witnesses Detecting the Bell State

Liangmeng Xie

Quantum entanglement is a core resource for quantum information processing, and entanglement witnesses are indispensable tools for detection and verification. This paper first clarifies some already-known properties of entanglement witnesses and the Bell State. By applying mathematical tools such as Kronecker product and matrix algebra, this paper analyzes elements in the Hermitian matrix and discusses the conditions for it to form an entanglement witness. This paper also considers both necessary and sufficient conditions of entanglement witness to impose restrictions on elements and investigated several inequality properties of two-qubit entanglement witness to detect Bell states.
