Nondegenerate dual atomic parametric amplifier: entangled atomic fields

Abstract

Abstract In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of two coupled quantum degenerate atomic fields (BEC) interacting with two classical optical fields in the nonlinear atom optics regime. Two-photon interaction produces entangled atom-atom pairs which exhibit nonclassical correlations. Since the system involves the creation of two correlated atom pairs, we call it the nondegenerate dual atomic parametric amplifier.

Pair entanglement of two-level atoms in the presence of a nondegenerate parametric amplifier

Eied Mahmoud Khalil, M. Sebawe Abdalla, A.‐S. F. Obada

The problem of two two-level atoms in interaction with a nondegenerate parametric amplifier is considered. The analytical solution of the wavefunction is obtained and used to derive the density matrix operator. The temporal evolution of the atomic inversion, the degree of entanglement, as well as the variance and entropy squeezing are discussed. In our analysis, we assumed that the atomic systems are in the excited states and the fields in the squeezed-pair coherent state. It has been shown that the coupling parameter, λ3 (the coupling between the two fields), gets more effective for the case in which the q-parameter is not equal to zero. Also for a strong coupling parameter λ3 the superstructure phenomenon can be observed. In the meantime, as we increase the value of the coupling parameter, the entanglement between the atoms and the fields gets stronger. Also it has been shown that in the presence of the parametric amplifier term, the system never reaches the pure state except during revival periods.

Quantum optics of a Bose-Einstein condensate coupled to a quantized light field

M. G. Moore, O. Zobay, Pierre Meystre

We consider the interaction between a Bose-Einstein condensate and a single-mode quantized light field in the presence of a strong far-off-resonant pump laser. The dynamics is characterized by an exponential instability, hence the system acts as an atom-photon parametric amplifier. Triggered by a small injected probe field, or simply by quantum noise, entangled atom-photon pairs are created which exhibit nonclassical correlations similar to those seen between photons in the optical parametric amplifier. In addition, the quantum statistics of the matter and light field depend strongly on the initial state which triggers the amplifier. Thus, by preparing different initial states of the light field, one can generate matter waves in a variety of quantum states, demonstrating optical control over the quantum statistics of matter waves.

Nonclassical properties and entanglement generation in an optical cavity containing two atomic Bose–Einstein condensates

Ren-Fei Zheng, Qi-Hui Jiang, Lu Zhou +1 more

We consider the model of a weakly driven optical cavity containing two clouds of atomic Bose–Einstein condensates (BECs). Nonclassical photon correlations and correlations between the two atomic BECs are investigated under different cavity conditions including strong atom-field coupling and bad cavity regime. We show that the nonlinear interatom collisional interactions in BEC leads to a significant loss of cavity light coherence. Various types of nonclassical properties are investigated such as sub-Poissonian statistics, antibunching and entanglement. We show that the entanglement can be generated between BECs and the cavity field. The time evolution of entanglement is also numerically studied.

Atomic non-locality dynamics of two moving atoms in a hybrid nonlinear system: concurrence, uncertainty-induced non-locality and Bell inequality

A.‐B. A. Mohamed, Eied Mahmoud Khalil

Abstract The paper explores the non-locality dynamics of two moving atoms in a hybrid nonlinear system, which describes a nondegenerate parametric amplifier cavity containing two moving atoms with Stark shift interactions. Based on the Bell function, uncertainty-induced non-locality and concurrence, the two moving atomic non-locality is calculated numerically, when the cavity is filled initially by pair coherent fields. The results showed that the hybrid nonlinear qubit-cavity interactions have a high ability to generating quantum correlations. The amount of the generated quantum correlation can be improved and accelerated significantly with the increase of the time-dependent qubit location parameter. The increase of the Stark shift ratio and the difference between the mean-number photons of the two cavity fields leads to a clear deterioration of the generated quantum correlation.

Enhancement of photonic entanglement and antibunching of the emitted waves from a non-degenerate parametric amplifier

R. Usefi, Mohammad Kazem Tavassoly

Our purpose in this paper is to investigate the response of a well-known nonlinear quantum optical medium, i.e. non-degenerate parametric amplifier (NDPA), to the pair coherent and two-mode squeezed states, distinctly, both analytically and numerically. To achieve the aim, we start from the NDPA quantum Hamiltonian in the rotating wave approximation (RWA) and via solving the Heisenberg equations of motion of signal and idler modes of the dynamical system is derived, by which we can achieve the time evolution of the NDPA response to the above-mentioned input field states. Accordingly, we are able to evaluate two important nonclassical properties, i.e. photonic entanglement and photon statistics (second-order correlation function and antibunching effect) after the interaction with NDPA for the output emitted fields, and compare the results with the associated quantities for the input field states. Summing up, our numerical simulations show that the amplification (and in some cases the appearance) of the considered nonclassical properties of the radiation field in the output states is clearly confirmed. The results can be beneficial for various quantum science and technology protocols, i.e. quantum communication, quantum metrology, quantum teleportation and quantum computing.

Cascaded entanglement enhancement

Zhihui Yan, Xiaojun Jia, Xiaolong Su +3 more

We present a cascaded system consisting of three nondegenerate optical parametric amplifiers (NOPAs) for the generation and the enhancement of quantum entanglement of continuous variables. The entanglement of optical fields produced by the first NOPA is successively enhanced by the second and the third NOPAs from $\ensuremath{-}5.3$ to $\ensuremath{-}8.1$ dB below the quantum noise limit. The dependence of the enhanced entanglement on the physical parameters of the NOPAs and the reachable entanglement limitation for a given cascaded NOPA system are calculated. The calculation results are in good agreement with the experimental measurements.
