Abstract

We consider the model of a weakly driven optical cavity containing two clouds of atomic Bose–Einstein condensates (BECs). Nonclassical photon correlations and correlations between the two atomic BECs are investigated under different cavity conditions including strong atom-field coupling and bad cavity regime. We show that the nonlinear interatom collisional interactions in BEC leads to a significant loss of cavity light coherence. Various types of nonclassical properties are investigated such as sub-Poissonian statistics, antibunching and entanglement. We show that the entanglement can be generated between BECs and the cavity field. The time evolution of entanglement is also numerically studied.

Lower- and higher-order nonclassicality in a Bose-condensed optomechanical-like system and a Fabry-Perot cavity with one movable mirror: squeezing, antibunching and entanglement

Nasir Alam, Kishore Thapliyal, Anirban Pathak +3 more

Various lower- and higher-order nonclassical properties have been studied for two physical systems- (i) an optomechanical system composed of a Fabry-Perot cavity with one nonlinearly oscillating mirror and (ii) an optomechanical-like system formed using a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) trapped inside an optical cavity. The investigation is performed using a perturbation method that leads to closed form analytic expressions for the time evolution of the relevant bosonic operators. In the first system, it is observed that the radiation pressure coupling leads to the emergence of lower- and higher-order squeezing, antibunching, entanglement and intermodal squeezing. The effects of the coherent interaction of a nonlinear oscillating mirror with the cavity mode are studied, and it is observed that the optomechanical system studied here becomes more nonclassical (entangled) when the coupling strength is increased. It is also observed that the possibility of observing entanglement depends on the phase of the movable mirror. The Hamiltonian of the trapped BEC system is obtained as a special case of the Hamiltonian of the first system, and the existence of various nonclassicality in the trapped BEC system has been established, and variations of those with various physical parameters have been reported with an aim to understand the underlying physical process that leads to and controls the nonclassicality.

Generation of entangled coherent states in cavity QED and its nonclassicality

Chenchao Hua, Shi-Qing Tang

Cavity quantum electrodynamics is the intersection of quantum physics and microcavity optics research. In this paper, we presented a two-mode cavity coupled to a classical field driven by N three-level atoms to prepare entangled coherent states based on cavity QED. In this scheme, we adopt the interaction between the three-level atoms and the two-mode optical cavity, The initial state of one optical field is an odd-even coherent state, while the initial state of another optical field is a coherent state. After considering the time evolution of the initial states with the system, we obtained the specific form of the time evolution of the quantum states and prepared the entangled coherent state successfully. We discussed and analysed some of the nonclassical properties of the optical field and quantum states, including the second-order correlation function and the Wigner function. The results show that when calculating the second-order correlation function, the photons are found to exhibit a sub-Poisson distribution at some points in time. In addition, when observing the Wigner function of the quantum states evolving with time, it is found that there is a negative part of the Wigner distribution at some moments, which implies that the quantum state exhibits nonclassical properties at these certain moments.

Research Paper: Entanglement and Quantum Cooling of a Hybrid System Composed of BEC and Optical Cavity

‎We present a theoretical interacting one-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) inside an optical cavity which is driven through of the fixed end mirrors. Under the Bogoliubov approximation and when the number of photons inside the cavity is not too large, the atomic field operator can be considered as a single-mode quantum field which is coupled to the radiation pressure of the intracavity field. In this way, the system behaves like an optomechanical system with an extra nonlinear term corresponding to the atom-atom interaction. We show that one of the best ways of tracing the effect of atomic interaction is to study the noise power spectrum of the field of the cavity. For this purpose, we study the light intensity spectrum of the cavity as well as the entanglement between the optical cavity and the BEC. We show how the pattern of the power spectrum of the cavity changes due to the nonlinear effect of atomic collisions. Furthermore, it is shown that due to the s-wave scattering frequency of the atom-atom interaction, one can measure the strength of interatomic interaction. Besides, we show how the atomic collisions affect the entanglement between subsystems and cooling behavior of the BEC atoms.

Fast Generation of GHZ States with Bose—Einstein Condensate in a Cavity*

Gang Zhang, Jian Zhou, Zheng‐Yuan Xue

Abstract It is shown that strong coupling of Bose—Einstein condensates to an optical cavity can be realized experimentally. With an additional driven microwave field, we show that a highly nonlinear coupling among atoms in a Bose—Einstein condensate can be induced with the assistance of the cavity mode. With such interaction, we can investigate the generation of many body entangled states. In particularly, we show that multipartite entangled GHZ states can be obtained in such architecture with current available techniques.

Nonlinear and chaotic dynamics of a Bose-Einstein condensate in an optical cavity

M. Diver, Gordon R. M. Robb, Gian‐Luca Oppo

We present a theoretical analysis of a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) enclosed in an optical cavity driven by an external laser beam. In the limit where the cavity-field dynamics is adiabatically eliminated, the interaction between the condensate and the cavity displays a range of nonlinear dynamical behaviors such as multistability, quasiperiodicity, and conservative chaotic oscillations. We show that chaotic oscillations are ubiquitous when repulsive atom-atom interactions are included in the model. Despite the complexity of the full coupled BEC-cavity system, the essential features of its nonlinear and chaotic behavior are low-dimensional and are well described by considering the evolution of only a few motional states of the BEC.

Probing nonclassicality in an optically driven cavity with two atomic ensembles

Javid Naikoo, Kishore Thapliyal, Anirban Pathak +1 more

The possibility of observing nonclassical features in a physical system comprised of a cavity with two ensembles of two-level atoms has been investigated by considering different configurations of the ensembles with respect to the node and antinode of the cavity field under the framework of open quantum systems. The study reveals the strong presence of nonclassical characters in the physical system by establishing the existence of many facets of nonclassicality, such as the sub-Poissonian boson statistics and squeezing in single modes, intermodal squeezing, intermodal entanglement, antibunching, and steering. The effect of a number of parameters, characterizing the physical system, on the different aspects of nonclassicality is also investigated. Specifically, it is observed that the depth of the nonclassicality witnessing parameters can be enhanced by externally driving one of the ensembles with an optical field. The work is done in the presence of open system effects, in particular, use is made of Langevin equations along with a suitable perturbative technique.
