Abstract

We introduce a new class of multipartite entangled mixed states with pure state decompositions of generalized W states, similar to Schmidt-correlated states having generalized GHZ states in the pure state decomposition. The entanglement and separability properties are studied according to PPT operations. Monogamy relations linked to these states are also investigated.

Multipartite Entanglement

Reinhold A. Bertlmann, Nicolai Friis

Abstract This chapter takes a closer look at entanglement in multipartite systems. An examination of pure tripartite systems serves a starting point from which we discover the equivalence classes of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states and W states. We then continue with the mixed-state case and discuss the notions of full separability, partition-separability and biseparability versus genuine tripartite entanglement, before stating the GHZ theorem in the formulation following Mermin. For systems of three or more parties we then formulate the definitions for k-separability and genuine multipartite entanglement (GME), as well as for k-producibility and entanglement depth, followed by prominent examples for GME states such as the generalized GHZ states and Dicke states. We give an overview of the problem of detecting GME using various linear and non-linear GME witnesses, lifted witnesses, PPT mixers, before discussing challenges for the characterization and quantification of multipartite entanglement. We close by analysing the phenomenon of entangled entanglement.

Multipartite pure-state entanglement

Ashish V. Thapliyal

We show that pure states of multipartite quantum systems are multiseparable (i.e., give separable density matrices on tracing any party) if and only if they have a generalized Schmidt decomposition. Implications of this result for the quantification of multipartite pure-state entanglement are discussed. Further, as an application of the techniques used here, we show that any purification of a bipartite-bound entangled state having a positive partial transpose is tri-inseparable, i.e., has none of its three bipartite partial traces separable.

Monogamy of quantum correlations in three-qubit pure states

Sudha, A. R. Usha Devi, A. K. Rajagopal

The limitation on the shareability of quantum entanglement over several parties, the so-called monogamy of entanglement, is an issue that has received considerable attention from the quantum information community over the last decade. A natural question of interest in this connection is whether monogamy of correlations is true for correlations other than entanglement. This issue is examined here by choosing quantum deficit, proposed by A. K. Rajagopal and R. W. Rendell [Phys. Rev. A 66, 022104 (2002)], an operational measure of correlations. In addition to establishing the polygamous nature of the class of three-qubit symmetric pure states characterized by two distinct Majorana spinors (to which the $W$ states belong), those with three distinct Majorana spinors [to which Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states belong] are shown to either obey or violate monogamy relations. While the generalized $W$ states can be monogamous or polygamous, the generalized GHZ states exhibit monogamy with respect to quantum deficit. The issue of using monogamy conditions based on quantum deficit to witness the states belonging to stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) inequivalent classes is discussed in light of these results.

Multipartite monogamy of the concurrence

Marcio F. Cornelio

The monogamy of entanglement is generally discussed using a bipartite entanglement measure as an upper bound. Here we discuss a new kind of monogamous relation where the upper bound is given by a multipartite measure of entanglement, the generalized concurrence. We show a monogamous equality involving the multipartite concurrence, all the bipartite concurrences, and the genuine tripartite entanglement for pure three-qubit systems. The result extends to mixed states in an inequality involving the generalized concurrence and all the bipartite concurrences. We provide a counterexample showing that the result cannot be extended for systems with more than three qubits.

Unified Monogamy Relations of Multipartite Entanglement

Awais Khan, Junaid ur Rehman, Kehao Wang +1 more

Unified-(q, s) entanglement [Formula: see text] is a generalized bipartite entanglement measure, which encompasses Tsallis-q entanglement, Rényi-q entanglement, and entanglement of formation as its special cases. We first provide the extended (q; s) region of the generalized analytic formula of [Formula: see text]. Then, the monogamy relation based on the squared [Formula: see text] for arbitrary multiqubit mixed states is proved. The monogamy relation proved in this paper enables us to construct an entanglement indicator that can be utilized to identify all genuine multiqubit entangled states even the cases where three tangle of concurrence loses its efficiency. It is shown that this monogamy relation also holds true for the generalized W-class state. The αth power [Formula: see text] based general monogamy and polygamy inequalities are established for tripartite qubit states.
