Abstract

Similar in spirit to the preceding work 9 Fan, H-Y and Hu, L-Y. 2009. Opt. Commun., 282: 3734–3736. [Crossref], [Web of Science ®] , [Google Scholar], where the relation between optical Fresnel transformation and quantum tomography is revealed, we explore this kind of relationship in a two-mode entangled case. We show that under the two-mode Fresnel transformation the entangled state density becomes density operator , which is just the Radon transform of the two-mode Wigner operator in entangled form, i.e. where F 2 is a two-mode Fresnel operator in quantum optics, and s , r are the complex-value expressions of (A,B,C,D). So the probability distribution is the tomography (Radon transform of the two-mode Wigner function), and gives a tomogram. Similarly, we find where is the conjugated state to .

A new theorem relating quantum tomogram to the Fresnel operator

Chuanmei Xie, Hong-Yi Fan

According to Fan—Hu's formalism (Fan Hong-Yi and Hu Li-Yun 2009 Opt. Commun . 282 3734 ) that the tomogram of quantum states can be considered as the module-square of the state wave function in the intermediate coordinate—momentum representation which is just the eigenvector of the Fresnel quadrature phase, we derive a new theorem for calculating quantum tomogram of density operator, i.e., the tomogram of a density operator ρ is equal to the marginal integration of the classical Weyl correspondence function of F † ρ F , where F is the Fresnel operator. Applications of this theorem to evaluating the tomogram of optical chaotic field and squeezed chaotic optical field are presented.

New theorem relating two-mode entangled tomography to two-mode Fresnel operator

Chuanmei Xie, Hong-Yi Fan

Based on the Fan—Hu's formalism, i.e., the tomogram of two-mode quantum states can be considered as the module square of the states' wave function in the intermediate representation, which is just the eigenvector of the Fresnel quadrature phase, we derive a new theorem for calculating the quantum tomogram of two-mode density operators, i.e., the tomogram of a two-mode density operator is equal to the marginal integration of the classical Weyl correspondence function of F 2 † ρ F 2 , where F 2 is the two-mode Fresnel operator. An application of the theorem in evaluating the tomogram of an optical chaotic field is also presented.

Relation between Fresnel transform of input light field and the two-parameter Radon transform of Wigner function of the field

Fan Hong‐Yi, Liyun Hu

This paper proves a new theorem on the relationship between optical field Wigner function's two-parameter Radon transform and optical Fresnel transform of the field, i.e., when an input field Ψ( x ') propagates through an optical [ D (− B ) (− C ) A ] system, the energy density of the output field is equal to the Radon transform of the Wigner function of the input field, where the Radon transform parameters are D , B . It prove this theorem in both spatial-domain and frequency-domain, in the latter case the Radon transform parameters are A , C .

Adaption of optical Fresnel transform to optical Wigner transform

Cui-hong Lv, Hong-Yi Fan

Enlightened by the algorithmic isomorphism between the rotation of the Wigner distribution function (WDF) and the αth fractional Fourier transform, we show that the optical Fresnel transform performed on the input through an ABCD system makes the output naturally adapting to the associated Wigner transform, i.e. there exists algorithmic isomorphism between ABCD transformation of the WDF and the optical Fresnel transform. We prove this adaption in the context of operator language. Both the single-mode and the two-mode Fresnel operators as the image of classical Fresnel transform are introduced in our discussions, while the two-mode Wigner operator in the entangled state representation is introduced for fitting the two-mode Fresnel operator.

Relation between quantum tomography and optical Fresnel transform

Corresponding to optical Fresnel transformation characteristic of ray transfer matrix elements (A;B;C;D); AD-BC = 1, there exists Fresnel operator F(A;B;C;D) in quantum optics, we show that under the Fresnel transformation the pure position density |x>_rs,rs__rs,rs_ is just the wave function of its Fresnel transformed state F|phi>, i.e. rs_= . Similarly, we find F|p>_rs,rs_

Fresnel tomography: a novel approach to the wave function reconstruction based on Fresnel representation of tomograms

Sergio M. De Nicola, Renato Fedele, Margarita A. Man’ko +1 more

New type of tomographic probability distribution, which contains complete information on the density matrix (wave function) related to the Fresnel transform of the complex wave function, is introduced. Relation to symplectic tomographic probability distribution is elucidated. Multimode generalization of the Fresnel tomography is presented. Examples of applications of the present approach are given.
