Quantization as deformation theory

F. J. Bloore, M. Assimakopoulos, I. R. Ghobrial

We show that any rule for quantization of functions on the phase space of a dynamical system is equivalent to a deformation of the Poisson bracket, in the sense of Lie algebras. All Schrödinger-type quantizations are equivalent mathematically but not physically. We examine whether a quantization rule exists in which the Poisson bracket of the free Hamiltonian and any function not more than quadratic in momentum gets quantized into the commutator of the quantized versions of these two observables. We show that if the (Riemannian) configuration manifold is irreducible, this condition uniquely specifies the quantization of these functions, in the cases when it can be satisfied. However, it can only be satisfied for systems whose configuration manifolds are one-dimensional, or have vanishing Ricci tensor, or are spaces of constant curvature. Thus the condition will not serve as a general physical principle which could be invoked to fix a quantization rule.

Feinberg-Horodecki Exact Momentum States of Improved Deformed Exponential-Type Potential

Mahmoud Farout, Ahmed Bassalat, Sameer M. Ikhdair

We obtain the quantized momentum eigenvalues, Pn, and the momentum eigenstates for the space-like Schrodinger equation, the Feinberg-Horodecki equation, with the improved deformed exponential-type potential which is constructed by temporal counterpart of the spatial form of these potentials. We also plot the variations of the improved deformed exponential-type potential with its momentum eigenvalues for few quantized states against the screening parameter.

Dipolar quantization and the infinite circumference limit of two-dimensional conformal field theories

Nobuyuki Ishibashi, Tsukasa Tada

Elaborating on our previous presentation, where the term dipolar quantization was introduced, we argue here that adopting [Formula: see text] as the Hamiltonian instead of [Formula: see text] yields an infinite circumference limit in two-dimensional conformal field theory. The new Hamiltonian leads to dipolar quantization instead of radial quantization. As a result, the new theory exhibits a continuous and strongly degenerated spectrum in addition to the Virasoro algebra with a continuous index. Its Hilbert space exhibits a different inner product than that obtained in the original theory. The idiosyncrasy of this particular Hamiltonian is its relation to the so-called sine-square deformation, which is found in the study of a certain class of quantum statistical systems. The appearance of the infinite circumference explains why the vacuum states of sine-square deformed systems are coincident with those of the respective closed-boundary systems.
