Abstract

Theoretical analysis is presented on quantum state evolution of polarization light waves at frequencies $ω_{o}$ and $ω_{e}$ in a periodically poled nonlinear crystal (PPNC). It is shown that the variances of all the four Stokes parameters can be squeezed.

Statistical Characteristics of Quantum Polarization States Formed in Periodically Poled Nonlinear Crystals: Mathematical Modeling

Aleksandr V. Belinsky, Ranjit Singh

Abstract A degenerate parametric process and the complete upward generation of ordinary and extraordinary optical waves inside a periodically poled nonlinear crystal (PPNC) with quadratic nonlinearity are considered. A quantum theory is developed for describing statistical characteristics of the polarized states of light in a PPNC. It is found that the degree of polarization can be controlled by creating an imbalance in the intensity of modes at frequencies of ordinary and extraordinary optical waves (i.e., reducing the average number of photons in one and increasing it in the other).

Transmission of a quantum state in a periodically poled nonlinear crystal

Ranjit Singh

Theoretical calculations on transmission of quantum states such as Schrödinger cat (SC) states are considered in a periodically poled nonlinear crystal (PPNC). Combinations of various initial states (SC, coherent (C),and vacuum (V)) of light waves at frequencies $ω_{e}$ and $3ω_{e}$ at the input of a PPNC are studied. It is shown that the transmission and interference between superposition of macroscopically distinguishable states can be achieved by using a PPNC. Visualization and analyzes of transmission and interference processes are demonstrated with the help of reduced Wigner quasi-probability distribution functions of considered light waves.

Generation of polarization squeezing with periodically poled KTP at 1064 nm

Mikael Lassen, Metin Sabuncu, Preben Buchhave +1 more

We report the experimental demonstration of directly produced polarization squeezing at 1064 nm from a type I optical parametric amplifier (OPA) based on a periodically poled KTP crystal (PPKTP). The orthogonal polarization modes of the polarization squeezed state are both defined by the OPA cavity mode, and the birefringence induced by the PPKTP crystal is compensated by a second, but inactive, PPKTP crystal. Stokes parameter squeezing of 3.6 dB and anti squeezing of 9.4 dB is observed.

Mathematical Modeling a Source for the Formation of Ghost Images with the Help of a Periodically Poled Nonlinear Crystal: Quantum Polarization Characteristics by Considering Diffraction

Aleksandr V. Belinsky, Ranjit Singh

Abstract The authors consider the generation of correlated multiphoton quantum states using periodically poled nonlinear crystals with quadratic nonlinearity. The spatial and polarization characteristics of the generated correlated beams are studied. Statistical quantum polarization Stokes operators and coefficients of intermode correlation are calculated.
