On the physical part of the factorized correlation functions of the XXZ chain

Abstract

It was recently shown by Jimbo et al (2008 arXiv:0811.0439) that the correlation functions of a generalized XXZ chain associated with an inhomogeneous six-vertex model with a disorder parameter α and with arbitrary inhomogeneities on the horizontal lines factorize and can all be expressed in terms of only two functions ρ and ω. Here we approach the description of the same correlation functions and, in particular, of the function ω from a different direction. We start from a novel multiple integral representation for the density matrix of a finite chain segment of length m in the presence of a disorder field α. We explicitly factorize the integrals for m = 2. Based on this, we present an alternative description of the function ω in terms of the solutions of certain linear and nonlinear integral equations. We then prove directly that the two definitions of ω describe the same function. The definition in the work of Jimbo et al (2008 arXiv:0811.0439) was crucial for the proof of the factorization. The definition given here together with the known description of ρ in terms of the solutions of nonlinear integral equations is useful for performing, e.g., the Trotter limit in the finite temperature case, or for obtaining numerical results for the correlation functions at short distances. We also address the issue of the construction of an exponential form of the density matrix for finite α.

Factorization of multiple integrals representing the density matrix of a finite segment of the Heisenberg spin chain

Boos, H E, Göhmann, F, Klümper, A +1 more

We consider the inhomogeneous generalization of the density matrix of a finite segment of length $m$ of the antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain. It is a function of the temperature $T$ and the external magnetic field $h$, and further depends on $m$ `spectral parameters' $\\xi_j$. For short segments of length 2 and 3 we decompose the known multiple integrals for the elements of the density matrix into finite sums over products of single integrals. This provides new numerically efficient expressions for the two-point functions of the infinite Heisenberg chain at short distances. It further leads us to conjecture an exponential formula for the density matrix involving only a double Cauchy-type integral in the exponent. We expect this formula to hold for arbitrary $m$ and $T$ but zero magnetic field.

Fourth-neighbour two-point functions of the XXZ chain and the fermionic basis approach

Frank Göhmann, Raphael Kleinemühl, Alexander Weiße

Abstract We give a descriptive review of the fermionic basis approach to the theory of correlation functions of the XXZ quantum spin chain. The emphasis is on explicit formulae for short-range correlation functions which will be presented in a way that allows for their direct implementation on a computer. Within the fermionic basis approach a huge class of stationary reduced density matrices, compatible with the integrable structure of the model, assumes a factorized form. This means that all expectation values of local operators and all two-point functions, in particular, can be represented as multivariate polynomials in only two functions ρ and ω and their derivatives with coefficients that are rational in the deformation parameter q of the model. These coefficients are of ‘algebraic origin’. They do not depend on the choice of the density matrix, which only impacts the form of ρ and ω . As an example we work out in detail the case of the grand canonical ensemble at temperature T and magnetic field h for q in the critical regime. We compare our exact results for the fourth-neighbour two-point functions with asymptotic formulae for h , T = 0 and for finite h and T .

Factorization of the finite temperature correlation functions of theXXZchain in a magnetic field

Herman E Boos, Frank Göhmann, Andreas Klümper +1 more

We present a conjecture for the density matrix of a finite segment of the XXZ chain coupled to a heat bath and to a constant longitudinal magnetic field. It states that the inhomogeneous density matrix, conceived as a map which associates with every local operator its thermal expectation value, can be written as the trace of the exponential of an operator constructed from weighted traces of the elements of certain monodromy matrices related to and only two transcendental functions pertaining to the one-point function and the neighbour correlators, respectively. Our conjecture implies that all static correlation functions of the XXZ chain are polynomials in these two functions and their derivatives with coefficients of purely algebraic origin.

PROPERTIES OF LINEAR INTEGRAL EQUATIONS RELATED TO THE SIX-VERTEX MODEL WITH DISORDER PARAMETER

Hermann Boos, Frank Göhmann

One of the key steps in recent work on the correlation functions of the XXZ chain was to regularize the underlying six-vertex model by a disorder parameter $α$. For the regularized model it was shown that all static correlation functions are polynomials in only two functions. It was further shown that these two functions can be written as contour integrals involving the solutions of a certain type of linear and non-linear integral equations. The linear integral equations depend parametrically on $α$ and generalize linear integral equations known from the study of the bulk thermodynamic properties of the model. In this note we consider the generalized dressed charge and a generalized magnetization density. We express the generalized dressed charge as a linear combination of two quotients of $Q$-functions, the solutions of Baxter's $t$-$Q$-equation. With this result we give a new proof of a lemma on the asymptotics of the generalized magnetization density as a function of the spectral parameter.

Correlation functions of the six-vertex IRF model and its quantum spin chain

Thiago Silva Tavares, G A P Ribeiro

We consider the interaction-round-a-face version of the isotropic six-vertex model. The associated spin chain is made of two coupled Heisenberg spin chains with different boundary twists. The phase diagram of the model and the long distance correlations were studied in Tavares and Ribeiro (2023) [43] . Here, we compute the short-distance correlation functions of the model in the ground state for finite system sizes via non-linear integral equations and in the thermodynamic limit. This was possible since the model satisfies the face version of the discrete quantum Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov (qKZ) equation. A suitable ansatz for the density matrix is proposed in the form of a direct sum of two Heisenberg density matrices, which allows us to obtain the discrete functional equation for the two-site function ω ( λ 1 , λ 2 ) . Thanks to the known results on the factorization of correlation functions of the Heisenberg chain, we are able to compute the density matrix of the IRF model for up to four sites and its associated spin chain for up to three sites.
