Abstract

We report the first experimental demonstration of wavelength-multiplexed entanglement distribution. 44 channels of highly-entangled photon-pairs from one single broadband source are distributed over 10 km of fiber.

Wavelength-multiplexed distribution of highly entangled photon-pairs over optical fiber

Han Chuen Lim, Akio Yoshizawa, Hidemi Tsuchida +1 more

We report the first experimental demonstration of wavelength-multiplexed entanglement distribution over optical fiber. Forty-four channels of polarization-entangled photon-pairs were produced from a single pulse-pumped, short periodically-poled lithium niobate waveguide and distributed over 10 km of dispersion-shifted optical fiber. Entanglement fidelities of the distributed photon-pairs exceeded 0.86 for all selected channels.

Broadband source of telecom-band polarization-entangled photon-pairs for wavelength-multiplexed entanglement distribution

Han Chuen Lim, Akio Yoshizawa, Hidemi Tsuchida +1 more

Studies on telecom-band entangled photon-pair sources for entanglement distribution have so far focused on their narrowband operations. Fiber-based sources are seriously limited by spontaneous Raman scattering while sources based on quasi-phase-matched crystals or waveguides are usually narrowband because of long device lengths and/or operations far from degeneracy. An entanglement distributor would have to multiplex many such narrowband sources before entanglement distribution to fully utilize the available fiber transmission bandwidth. In this work, we demonstrate a broadband source of polarization-entangled photon-pairs suitable for wavelength-multiplexed entanglement distribution over optical fiber. We show that our source is potentially capable of simultaneously supporting up to forty-four independent wavelength channels.

Deterministic polarization entanglement generation via wavelength division multiplexing for long distance distribution

Xiang Cheng, Yujie Chen, Kai-Chi Chang +2 more

We demonstrated deterministic polarization entanglement generation via wavelength division multiplexing, and prepared four polarization Bell states over three frequency channel pairs. Wavelength-multiplexed polarization entangled states are distributed over 50 km fiber with high fidelity.

Wavelength-Selective Distribution of Polarization Entanglement over Deployed Fiber

Anirudh Ramesh, Joaquín Chung, Gregory S. Kanter +6 more

We demonstrate distribution of polarization entangled photon-pairs across multiple channels in a 6 km loop of deployed fiber. We use an all-optical networking switch to route Bell-state photons in three different wavelength pairs and verify entanglement distribution in all channel pairs by measuring two-photon interference fringes.

Multi-party Agile QKD Network with a Fiber-based Entangled Source

A multi-party quantum key distribution scheme is experimentally demonstrated by utilizing a poled fiber-based broadband polarization-entangled source and dense wavelength-division multiplexing. Entangled photon pairs are delivered over 40-km of fiber, with secure key rates of more than 20 bits/s observed.
