Non-Markovian Effects on the Dynamics of Entanglement

Abstract

A procedure that allows us to obtain the dynamics of N independent bodies each locally interacting with its own reservoir is presented. It relies on the knowledge of single-body dynamics and it is valid for any form of environment noise. It is then applied to the study of non-Markovian dynamics of two independent qubits, each locally interacting with a zero-temperature reservoir. It is shown that, although no interaction is present or mediated between the qubits, there is a revival of their entanglement, after a finite period of time of its complete disappearance.

Non-Markovian Effects on Entanglement Dynamics of Three Qubits

We investigate entanglement dynamics of three independent qubits each locally interacting with a zero- temperature non-Markovian reservoir. The effects of environment's amount of non-Markovianity or parameters in initial states on the three-qubit entanglement dynamics are presented in detail. It is found that the entanglement of such a system revives after a finite dark period when a proper degree of non-Markovian is present.A deep comparison to that in two-qubit system is also made.

Non-Markovian thermalization of entangled qubits

I. Glendinning, Matthias Jakob, Michael Noelle

We study the decoherence properties of an entangled bipartite qubit system, represented by two two-level atoms that are individually coupled to non-Markovian reservoirs. This coupling ensures that the dynamical equations of the atoms can be treated independently. The non-Markovian reservoirs are described by a model which leads to an exact non-Markovian master equation of the Nakajima-Zwanzig form [J. Salo, S. M. Barnett, and S. Stenholm, Optics Commun. 259, 772 (2006)]. We consider the evolution of the entanglement of a two-atom state that is initially completely entangled, quantified by its concurrence. Collapses and revivals in the concurrence, induced by the memory effects of the reservoir, govern the dynamics of the entangled quantum system. These collapses and revivals in the concurrence are a strong manifestation of the non-Markovian reservoir.

Coherence and entanglement in non-Markovian dynamics of qubits

Cristian E. Susa, John Henry Reina

We provide a thorough analysis of the entanglement dynamics of an interacting two-qubit system in the non-Markovian regime. In such a regime, the time scale on which the reservoir degrees of freedom evolve is either of the same order of magnitude or less than that on which the system evolves. We used an exact numerical method; the Quasi-Adiabatic Path Integral (QUAPI) technique, to describe the corresponding qubit dissipative dynamics in such a non-Markovian regime. We computed the time evolution of the density operator for the quibits, from which we quantified the coherences and population dynamics, as well as the qubit-bath coupling effects. Using negativity as a metric, we calculated the dynamics of non-local quantum correlations (entanglement), and indentified a non-Markovian quantum phenomena in terms of early stage disentanglement, and the collapse and revival of entanglement.

The decoherence dynamics of multipartite entanglement in a non-Markovian environment

Zhi He, Jian Zou, Bin Shao +1 more

We consider four two-level atoms interacting with independent non-Markovian reservoirs with detuning. We mainly investigate the effects of the detuning and the length of the reservoir correlation time on the decoherence dynamics of multipartite entanglement. We find that the time evolution of the entanglement of atomic and reservoir subsystems is determined by a parameter which is a function of the detuning and the reservoir correlation time. We also find that the decay and revival of the entanglement of the atomic and reservoir subsystems are closely related to the sign of the decay rate. We also show that the cluster state is the most robust to decoherence compared with Dicke, GHZ and W states for this decoherence channel.

ENTANGLEMENT DYNAMICS OF THREE-QUBIT SYSTEM IN A COMMON NON-MARKOVIAN RESERVOIR

Yanhui Wang, Zhong‐Xiao Man, Ying-Jie Zhang +1 more

We study the entanglement dynamics of three two-level atoms interacting with a structured reservoir. The atoms are initially prepared in a mixed W state while the reservoir is in the vacuum. We show the dependence of entanglement dynamics on the purity of initial atomic state and on the amount of non-Markovianity. When the initial state of atoms is in a W pure state, the entanglement will decay asymptotically, while it vanishes in a finite time if the initial state is in a mixed W state. In addition, as the memory effect of the environment, entanglement can partially revive after it vanishes, and the revival degree is dependent on the strength of non-Markovian effect. In the end, we consider the entanglement generation and its evolution when the initial state of the atoms system is completely separable.
